21, Chapter 21(1/2)

The nights in the mountains are not quiet, there are all kinds of insects and beasts roaring, the sound of wind and water, but no matter what sound, it is not more unsettling than the human voice.

Huo Ran and Kou Chen stood face to face for a while. He picked up the swing stick and bright flashlight, stuck his head out of the tent, and saw Lao Yang who also stuck his head out.

"What's going on?" Lao Yang asked in a low voice.

"I don't know," Huo Ran said softly, "What's going on with those tents over there?"

"You didn't hear any noise, did you think Kou Xiao was singing?" Lao Yang said.

"Go and have a look." Huo Ran said.

He was particularly reluctant to take a look, but if he didn't take a look now, he wouldn't be able to have a good night.

"Wait for me." Kou Chen struggled out of the sleeping bag. At this moment, he almost regretted that he had taken off all his clothes so early.

Huo Ran didn't wait for him, put on his shoes and got out of the tent. Probably because he was afraid of the wind coming in, when he tried to poke his head out, he even pulled down the zipper of the tent with his backhand.

"Fuck," Kou Chen cursed under his breath and put on his clothes in a hurry, "Why are you so fucking brave? You actually made such a move..."

"Have you watched too many ghost movies?" Huo Ran opened the tent again, "When did you see ghosts appearing in the wilderness in ghost movies? There are no graves nearby."

"There are no ghosts in the wild." Kou Chen said.

"Check around the camp. Your sister is still hiding in the tent and dare not come out." Huo Ran arranged the task, "Lao Yang and I are at the edge of the forest."

"Okay." Kou Chen finally put on his pants, put on his shoes and hurried out of the tent.

Huo Ran and Lao Yang were walking towards the edge of the forest one after another. Kou Chen was paying attention to what was going on over there and looking around the camp.

No one came out of the tents over there, and no lights were turned on. I don’t know if they were already asleep or were doing something and didn’t hear the singing at all.

When passing Kou Xiao's tent, Kou Chen took the hiking stick at the door: "Sister."

"Well," Kou Xiao responded inside, "are they going to the forest?"

"Here we go," Kou Chen opened the tent curtain and handed the hiking pole inside, "Take this..."

Kou Xiao was sitting in the tent, holding a barbecue iron stick in his hand.

"I'm good at it. I can tie it into a shower head for you." Kou Xiao said.

"...Okay, you can use the sign," Kou Chen nodded, "I'll go over there and take a look. If you need anything, just call."

"Don't worry, who am I?" Kou Xiao raised his eyebrows.

Kou Chen took another look at Huo Ran and Lao Yang. They were already near the forest and were shining a bright flashlight into the forest. Kou Chen followed the light and looked into the forest, but saw nothing moving.

He walked gently to the tent of the doggy couple and listened before speaking.

Among the three tents, there were people whispering in two, and there was breathing in one... Kou Chen didn't speak any more, and quickly backed away quietly.

I feel like I am listening to someone who is just listening to someone else, which is very wretched.

However, after retreating, he still circled around several tents and found nothing unusual.

When they returned to their tent, Huo Ran and Lao Yang also came back.

"How is it?" Kou Chen asked.

"There is someone in the woods." Huo Ran said.

"She's probably a woman," Lao Yang said. "We heard her talking, but we didn't see anyone."

"Huh?" Kou Chen was stunned, "Didn't you ask her what happened?"

"In the middle of the night, there is a woman singing and talking alone in the woods." Huo Ran looked at him, "Do you still want to talk to her?"

"Didn't you say there are no ghosts in the wild?" Kou Chen said.

"Did I say she is a ghost?" Huo Ran said, "This is obviously a mental illness..."

"Oh," Kou Chen realized, "Holy crap, are you a lunatic?"

"Eighty percent yes," Lao Yang sighed, "Generally in a village like this, if there is a madman in the family, it is impossible to send him to the hospital, and no one will care about him. He can just run away, and he will die while running.

"

Huo Ran took the two of them and scattered the branches that were not used in the barbecue around the tent. If someone or an animal approached, they would be able to hear if they stepped on it.

After standing in the cold wind and talking for a few more words, they returned to the tent.

"Do you think those fellow villagers are here to find that mentally ill person?" Kou Chen asked.

"I don't know," Huo Ran frowned, "If they are really looking for something, no matter what they are looking for, they will be shady. Normally, if they are looking for people to find animals, they will not ask us. As long as they don't ask, it must be

There is a problem."

"Well," Kou Chen started to take off his clothes again, stripped himself naked again, and got into his sleeping bag, "I'll sleep for a while first, and you can hold on for a while, and then wake me up when you feel sleepy.

Change the vigil."

"Okay." Huo Ran smiled.

Kou Chen tightened the mouth of his sleeping bag, exposing only his nose and eyes, and then closed his eyes.

Huo Ran looked at him.

Two seconds later, Kou Chen opened his eyes: "Fuck, aren't you touched? You're not sleepy now, so I'll let you keep watch first, and I'll get up and replace you when you're the sleepiest. Don't you understand?

In this order?”

"I understand." Huo Ran smiled.

"Then you're not even touched?" Kou Chen asked.

"Moved." Huo Ran nodded.

"Fuck," Kou Chen looked at him and closed his eyes after a while, "This is the first time I've seen someone who can be moved so calmly."

Huo Ran laughed: "Actually, I just want to ask, do you have to take off your underwear in a tent in the wild?"

"Otherwise? If it were not in a tent in the wild but at home, I wouldn't even have any underwear left," Kou Chen said.

Huo Ran took a piece of chocolate and ate it while saying: "Don't dress like this. If there is an accident, others can stand up and run away..."

"I can run even if I stand up." Kou Chen said.

"I have clothes," Huo Ran said. "What's different is that if you run away, you'll still be safe in the city."

"Hey!" Kou Chen sat up, "You mean I'm going to get out and put on my clothes now, and then get back out again, I'm not fucking bothered enough!"

Huo Ran said nothing and waved his hand at him.

Kou Chen lay back and closed his eyes.

It was very quiet in the tent, and there was no voice of the woman outside, either singing or talking.

Huo Ran took out his cell phone and checked, but there was no signal.

To get a mobile phone signal, you have to continue walking towards Laoxikou. There will be a signal when you are still a few kilometers away.

But also get tomorrow afternoon.

During this period of time, cell phone signals are like ghosts in the wild, whether they are there or not, there is none.

He sent messages to his father and Xu Zhifan from places where he had signals before, reporting his location and the next itinerary. If anything happened, they could find him...

Tsk.

Don't think about this, this line started when he was playing outdoors, and I have never heard of any donkey having any trouble on this road.

Kou Chen didn't fall asleep. He didn't have the habit of going to bed at eight or nine o'clock, but he still closed his eyes and tried hard to sleep for a long time. After all, he and Huo Ran had to change shifts that night and needed to refresh themselves.

When he finally started to feel a little sleepy, his cell phone rang softly.

This is the alarm clock he set for himself.

It's 11 o'clock.

It's time for him to get up and replace Huo Ran.

Hold?

I felt a little sleepy at first and it was time to get up!

Kou Chen regretted the arrangement of the vigil time just now.

He reluctantly opened his eyes and saw that Huo Ran was still sitting in the previous position without moving, but with his head lowered, as if he was asleep.

So unprofessional, what kind of professional ethics is this! You actually fell asleep during the night vigil?

"Are we going to replace you?" Huo Ran suddenly spoke.

"Fuck," Kou Chen was stunned, "I thought you were asleep."

"Close your eyes and rest your mind." Huo Ran opened his eyes and raised his head and smiled at him.

"Okay," Kou Chen sat up, "You can go to sleep, I'll call you at two o'clock."

Huo Ran got into the sleeping bag and lay down before he could sit down.

"...You're not taking off your clothes?" Kou Chen looked at him in surprise.

"That's how I sleep." Huo Ran twisted in his sleeping bag a few times and threw out his coat. "Call me at one o'clock, not two o'clock. It's too late."
To be continued...
