Chapter 64 Reputation

After the dinner, when leaving the hotel, Du Chunhua said to Du Qiu: "Brother, our dad has always wanted to see how you teach people. You should take him to see him tonight. Anyway, the classroom at Sanjiang University is big enough, not a single location."

Du Cunzhi was quite excited about this proposal and said with a smile: "Your sister makes you so popular, saying that your lectures are very popular, I don't believe it. It's not that easy to be a teacher. If it's convenient, I'll go over and take a look."

“Convenient, of course.”

It was probably influenced by his grandfather since he was a child. Du Qiu has always had the habit of being a good teacher. His ideal before traveling through time was to be a leisurely and comfortable university teacher. After traveling through time, he still maintained this mentality. When explaining basic knowledge that has nothing to do with commercial secrets, it is carried out in the form of open classes. Not only can employees within Snapdragon, but also people who are interested in the outside world can listen. First, they can win their reputation and second, they can advertise for the company.

After he returned from the United States, his popularity further increased. There were many people coming to listen to the lectures. The Snapdragon headquarters could not be arranged, so it was changed to the multi-functional lecture hall of Sanjiang University. There were complete facilities and large spaces, with more than 200 seats. But even so, the class was still full every time, and sometimes even had to be added.

However, my grandfather wanted to listen to his lectures, and no matter how tight the seat was, he had to get one out. Du Qiu called Jiang Danfeng and asked her to make arrangements in advance. Then he drove Du Cunzhi to Sanjiang University. Huang Dashan liked to join in the fun, threw his wife and children to Du Chunhua, and followed him.

It is summer vacation at the end of July. There are fewer people on the university campus and it looks very quiet, but it is very lively near the multi-functional lecture hall because the air conditioner is turned on and smoking is not allowed. Many smokers stand in the corridor or under the shade of trees while chatting and laughing.

After Du Cunzhi got off the car, he looked up and saw that in addition to college students who were just 20 years old, there were also middle-aged people who looked older, who looked obviously not as good as students. So he asked, "Who are those people?"

"Some are university teachers, some are doctoral students, and there are also programmers from other companies."

"The university teacher is here to listen to your lecture?" Du Cunzhi was very surprised and stopped and asked, "Are they professors?"

"Most of them are lecturers and associate professors, and there are only one or two professors." Du Qiu pointed to the poster posted at the door of the lecture hall and explained: "What I talked about is a popular technology in the world. They are here to communicate, not just listening to classes."

"Qiuzi, you are so ok. You can teach the university teachers before you even finished elementary school."

At this time, several middle-aged people under the shade of the tree not far away saw Du Qiu, so they walked over. The leader was a man in his 40s and asked loudly: "Xiao Du, what are you talking about today?"

“UDP, User Datagram Protocol.”

"I knew you were going to talk about this, and it was true." The man raised the notepad in his hand and said, "You are speaking too quickly. Many students have not yet understood ICMP, so you jump to UDP. Why don't you slow down and summarize the contents of the previous few days. Only by consolidating knowledge can you improve it, and it is not possible to pull seedlings and encourage growth."

"Professor Zhang, I am not a teacher, I am the boss. The purpose of teaching is to make money, not to study." Du Qiu pointed to several employees who ran to the lecture hall after seeing him, and said, "The spring breeze and rain, teaching and solving doubts is the job of you teachers, not my job. They have graduated from college and should have the ability to study by themselves. If they cannot learn well and cannot improve, I will deduct my salary until it can be improved."

This set of rhetoric conflicts with Du Cunzhi's three views. His face became slapped and snorted slightly from the side. Du Qiu was a little afraid of his grandfather's preaching and quickly introduced: "This is Professor Zhang from Yuncheng University, this is Teacher Shi from Sanjiang University, this is Dr. Wang from the University of Science and Technology, and this is reporter Huo from the Computer Newspaper. This is my father..."

Du Cunzhi interrupted Du Qiu's introduction, pulled Huang Dashan to the side, and said in a dialect accent: "I am Xiaoqiu's father's friend. I pass by Yuncheng to see him, you don't have to worry about me."

Du Qiu knew that with his grandfather's personality, he would never have any shame. He did this because he didn't want to disturb his lectures, so he didn't say much, and walked towards the lecture hall with a few people while chatting.

"Actually, I think Xiao Du's lectures are not fast, but there are too many knowledge points. Combining theory and implementation together gives people a dazzling feeling. Fortunately, every lecture is recorded. If students really want to learn, they will understand it if they watch the recording a few more times."

"Xiao Du, your set of TCP/IP lecture notes are very exciting, with pictures and texts, easy to understand, and can be used as university textbooks. Are you interested in sorting them out and editing them into books?"

"Hey hey, Professor Zhang, you can't beat local snakes. How can you run to our school to grab business? Tell me, all Xiao Du's translation works and course notes are all made by our Sanjiang University Press. You can just wait and pay for it!"

"It's all brother colleges in the same city. Isn't it appropriate for you to eat alone like this? The books translated by Xiao Du belong to you, and the books written by you are all happy."

"Professor Zhang, what I said is translated from a foreign country. If you don't have any of your own things, don't publish it, so as not to make a laugh."

Du Cunzhi followed behind and saw the two families competing to help Du Qiu publish a book. He was both happy and proud, and could not hide his smile at the corner of his eyes. He said to Huang Dashan: "It seems that Xiaoqiu is a teacher."

"This is called a father who has the same son." Huang Dashan looked around and watched the fun, and smiled and complimented: "It was all well laid out by Principal Du when he was a child."

When several people walked into the lecture hall, Jiang Danfeng happened to come out with his elder brother. As soon as his eyes touched Du Cunzhi, he immediately hung up the phone, raised his chest and raised his head, put his hands together, and looked serious, and said respectfully: "Mr. Du."

It's really a big deal, why don't you think you are so honest...

"This is Jiang Danfeng, the administrative manager of our company." Because of Du Chunhua's fanning the flames, Du Cunzhi had known Jiang Danfeng's name for a long time. Du Qiu introduced it vaguely, and then whispered: "My father doesn't want someone to know his identity, so you can arrange for him to sit in the back row."

Jiang Danfeng nodded, like a restaurant waiter, smiled and reached out to lead: "Please go here, please."

Du Cunzhi looked at her carefully a few times, then walked along the aisle to the back, and saw that it was almost full of people, so he asked, "Xiao Jiang, why are there so many people? They are all employees of your company?"

"No, less than half of them are from our company, and the rest are students or programmers who come to listen to the class." Jiang Danfeng found a few empty seats in the last row to ask Du Cunzhi to sit down and explained with a smile: "Mr. Du is very good at teaching. After listening, he is not only very helpful for his work, but also very helpful for writing papers. Among the students who came to our company for internship last semester, many of them got excellent graduation thesis."

"Is that true?" Du Cunzhi was very satisfied when he saw Jiang Danfeng being dignified and elegant, and he patted the chair next to him and said with a pleasant look: "Xiao Jiang, you can sit there too. Tell me what Xiao Qiu said?"

"Mr. Du recently talked about the TCP/IP protocol, a technology that connects computers." Jiang Danfeng sat down next to him and boasted with some slight urgency: "Actually, I don't understand what TCP/IP is, but I heard from the employees that this is a very powerful technology. There are no more than 100 people in China who are as proficient as Mr. Du, so there are a lot of people coming to listen to the class."

When Du Qiu gave a lecture in May, he talked about basic knowledge such as C language or data structure. Although the explanations are of high quality and are very popular among employees, there is no special content in the content, so there is not much response from the outside world, and few teachers or professors are interested.

But the TCP/IP protocol is different, because in 1995, not many people knew and were proficient in TCP/IP protocols. For example, Microsoft's second-ranked character Steve Ballmer didn't hear this term for the first time until 1993. Windows 95 was also criticized for not supporting the TCP/IP protocol, and in subsequent versions, it had to borrow a lot of code from the BSD operating system.

This is true abroad, and the country is even weaker. Qingcheng University only built the first campus network in China that supports the TCP/IP protocol in 1992. When Zhang Shuxin founded the Yinghaiwei Space-Time Website in 1996, he actually developed a communication standard that is incompatible with the TCP/IP protocol, which caused the browser to be inaccessible, and became one of the main reasons for Yinghaiwei's decline.

The TCP/IP protocol was gradually understood and mastered by programmers until the legendary figure Lichard Stevens published the brilliant masterpiece "Detailed Explanation of TCP/IP". This set of books has three volumes, of which the first and second volumes were published at the end of 1994 and early 1995 respectively, and the third volume will not be published until 1996. There is little knowledge about it in China at present.

In fact, the TCP/IP protocol became the Internet standard as early as 1984, but China only opened the Internet in 1995, and lacked an environment for implementation and application. Especially for teachers from second-rate universities in the central and western regions, they were well-versed in theoretical research, but they were confused when they realized it. Now, with Du Qiu, an internationally renowned "Internet technology expert", naturally flocking to it.
