Chapter 18 The Hunt Begins
Wars in the border areas are getting worse.
Although the two tribes' armies have not yet begun full-scale battles, small-scale and low-rift battles are staged on the battlefield again and again every day.
The orcs still had no intention of siege. A large number of orc troops were scattered out to loot the human villages and towns, and then transported the plundered food back to the orc camp.
Faced with the cavalry of the Snow Legion, the Orcs expanded the scale of the hunting team, and several hunting teams acted at the same time. Once one of the hunting teams was attacked, they dragged the human cavalry troops to death and waited for the rescue of the surrounding troops.
On several occasions, a small group of orc troops were even deliberately sent as bait to lure the human cavalry to take the bait and then join in and surround them.
The cavalry regiment of the Wind and Snow Legion suffered several losses at the beginning, and a surrounded cavalry regiment even lost nearly half of its cavalry before rushing out of the orc troops.
However, the human cavalry quickly made targeted adjustments, leaving the orc hunting team with one blow, only seeking to kill and not completely annihilate, never fighting with them, and withdrawing in advance before other orc troops formed an encirclement.
In addition, several cavalry regiments discussed the route and scope of the sweeping in advance. Once one unit is surrounded, other cavalry regiments can provide rapid reinforcements.
This is a war of attrition that will be exchanged for life. In the mutual tug-of-war, hundreds of soldiers of both tribes died in battle every day.
On the other side of the battlefield, Arthur's 7th Squadron encountered the first orc tribe the day after breaking into the orc border area.
This is a werewolf tribe, and the tribal camp is built on a low mountain with sparse vegetation.
Arthur and Jose ventured to approach the camp, slaughtered two werewolf patrolling outside, and after a while, they led the squadron to quickly get away from the orc tribe.
Things were far from easy as imagined. The scale of this camp was too large. Looking at the distance, I found forty or fifty werewolfs in the camp. The size of the 7th Squadron was 40 people, and I was not sure to swallow the camp in one bite.
On the third day, the Seventh Squadron discovered two orc tribes located on the river beach.
Neither of these orc tribes is larger than the werewolf camps before, but the distance between the two tribe camps is too close. If one of the orc tribes is attacked, the other one will likely come to rescue.
After weighing the pros and cons, Arthur still took the people away.
On the battlefield, Arthur himself could be crazy and desperate, but as the captain, he had to be responsible for the soldiers of the entire squadron. Without any supply and support, the Seventh Squadron could not withstand any major losses. As long as more than 30% of the war losses occur, the morale of the troops would be completely destroyed and it would be even more difficult to move forward.
After missing several orc tribes in a row, a jackal tribe next to the forest entered the target of the seventh squadron.
The jackals are smaller orcs, one shorter than human soldiers. Although their individual combat power is not strong, they are very cunning. They are smarter among the orcs. The jackal tribes are generally vassals of the werewolf tribes.
The jackal tribe in front of me is not large in size, and the wooden village walls are a little dilapidated. Looking through the gaps in the village, there are only twenty or thirty orcs moving in the village, and there are not many adult orc warriors.
"Captain, it's just it. It's not a big problem to take down this tribe." The monkey's eyes flashed with excitement, and he lay beside Arthur and whispered.
"To be safe, you have taken the two brothers to keep an eye on them. As much as possible, we can do it again in the evening."
"When did you become so timid?" the monkey muttered.
"Look at it!" Arthur slapped the monkey and took the people down.
The waiting time was so difficult. Seeing the sun slowly approaching the west, the soldiers of the Seventh Squadron were waiting until dark little by little, and then to late at night. Because they were worried that the ignition of fire was discovered by the orc tribe in the distance, the soldiers each ate only two pieces of dry and hard jerky meat.
"Captain, you can do it. We watched it for a long time. Except for the dozen orcs who came back in the evening and went out to collect, the camp did not change at all." The monkey slipped back quietly.
As soon as the monkey came back, the soldiers all surrounded him and looked at Arthur with eager eyes.
"Okay, prepare to do it! Be smart for a while, don't spend your life on this small tribe."
The soldiers were ready to scrutinize their weapons.
Arthur looked around the soldiers around him, and suddenly felt sad. With an order, these soldiers followed him with no complaint.
"Wait a minute."
Amid everyone's doubtful eyes, Arthur shook his space bracelet, and weapons and armor fell out of it, and soon piled up into a pile.
Arthur's space bracelet has more than a dozen third-level and fourth-level enchanting equipment, and nearly twenty third-level equipment without enchanting. These are all the inventory that Arthur had not processed in the last time the store robbed the store and the materials he bought to prepare enchantment.
The soldiers around them widened their eyes. Including Jose and the others, these soldiers did not have the chance to get involved in enchanting equipment. Now there is a pile of them in front of them. How rich is their captain!
No matter how valuable the equipment is, no matter how valuable it is, Arthur urged: "Swap all these equipment, get one for each person, and get familiar with the new equipment first!"
The monkey's eyes shone with light, "Captain, I will be yours from now on! I will do whatever you ask me to do!"
"Get out, I don't want you." Although Arthur cursed, he threw his Level 4 "Sad Sorrow" bow to the monkey. "Now these things are only temporarily lent to you, but if you can go back with me this time, I will give you a level 3 equipment each, and a level 3 enchantment equipment each of you monkeys."
The soldiers rushed up excitedly and lifted Arthur up. If they weren't worried about making a big noise, they would have to cheer and throw Arthur into the air.
Weapons and equipment are the second life of soldiers. No warrior doesn’t like magical weapons. But as the grassroots soldiers, they can get only the most basic standard weapons.
After this armed force, the combat effectiveness of the Seventh Squadron directly doubled, and a 40-person squadron could be worth a brigade of 100 people.
Arthur led the squadron slowly to the camp of the Gnoll Tribe.
Many orc tribes have mount beasts or wild beasts that protect the courtyard. Before the attack was officially launched, Arthur first ordered a mixture of wild chrysanthemums and three-color mandalas at the upper vent to allow the smoke to slowly float into the orc camp.
