Chapter 14 The Road to Advancement of the Bandit Season 1 (1)

In the sky north and east of Valang Village, the First Aviation Regiment's reconnaissance aircraft were hovering, and they would provide first-hand information to the Seventh Aviation Division.

On the ground on the east and south side of Valang Village, except for a few observation posts, most of the paratroopers of the 1st and 3rd Battalions sat in trenches and bunkers to supplement their sleep, and only a few paratroopers had mental chats.

The paratroopers were not iron-clad. From the airborne entry into the battlefield on September 9 to the Warang Village annihilation battle on September 11, they fought for almost two days and two nights in a row. Now they can finally rest. The tranquility of the battlefield appeared on the position, although the strange atmosphere was just the tranquility before the storm.

If the busy figures of the paratroopers of the 2nd Battalion were not flashing from time to time, Valang Village would have almost been regarded as a dead village without the breath of a living person.

In a dilapidated courtyard in the northwest corner of Valron Village, Chen Dao and Major Schubert sat at a brown oak round table. As a bandit, Chen Dao knew that modesty was a virtue. He held a diary in his left hand and a pencil in his right hand. He humbly asked Major Schubert for the defense issues of Valron Village, and recorded some of Major Schubert's experiences to accumulate experience for the future advancement of the bandit path.

"Our mission is very complicated." Major Schubert struggled for a long time before finally deciding to use the word "complexity" to describe his mission.

"Why do you say that?" Chen Dao asked in confusion.

"Because this task is both simple and difficult, if only combatants are in this village, then this task can be said to be very simple. But we not only have to defend against the enemy, but also protect the safety of the wounded in the village during the battle, which is very difficult." Major Schubert said.

Chen Dao nodded. He knew that there were nearly 200 seriously injured German and Polish troops living in Valang Village. These seriously injured were so serious that they could not withstand the bumps and could not follow the captive brigade to retreat south, so they had to stay here temporarily.

"Our imaginary enemy is the missing Polish cavalry, and we now know nothing about their position and number." Major Schubert continued, breathing a few smoke rings and spitting out some smoke rings.

Chen Dao thought for a while and said, "When the reconnaissance plane just discovered them, they had about one regiment of troops. After several rounds of air strikes, their current troops must be far less than one regiment. Of course, it would be a different matter if they received reinforcements."

"Suppose their troops are a regiment, and under the threat of the Air Force, they dare not act during the day. Eight-nine will adopt the tactic of night attacks. In addition, the cavalry's most terrifying maneuver advantage for infantry, once they really fight, we are really dangerous."

Chen Dao quickly recorded that the most terrifying advantage of cavalry over infantry was their maneuverability, and then asked: "How will their maneuverability be exerted?"

"It's very simple. They can let some cavalry dismount as infantry, attack us at night with the cooperation of artillery, attract most of our troops, and then send cavalry to use the night cover to attack us on the sides or behind us, and run at the speed of the cavalry running, a distance of one or two kilometers, or a few breaths. Once such a small village is rushed in by them, everything is over." Major Schubert said with his hands spreading out.

"There are artillery soldiers in the cavalry unit?" Chen Dao said as soon as he spoke, he felt that he had asked an idiot question.

"Of course, any unit has artillery troops whenever possible."

Chen Dao quickly wrote a line of words in his diary, then looked up and said, "I almost forgot that artillery soldiers are the god of war."

"Architecture is the god of war!" Major Schubert repeated it and then said, "This sentence is very appropriate. Which famous general said it? Napoleon?"

"No, it was because I was moved for a moment." Chen Dao's face kept on his face and his heart was still beating and stolen from Stalin's famous saying.

"I have summarized the three problems we face: one is to be careful of night attacks; the second is to be prepared for side and rear sneak attacks by the cavalry; the third is to protect the wounded." Chen Dao said.

"Basically this is the case. The most important thing is to guard against their night sneak attacks. As long as we can find them in advance and prevent them from sneak attacks, this battle will be easy to fight." Major Schubert said.

"Okay, let's find a way together. It's still some time before dark. We can let the transport plane airdrop some supplies. What do we need most now?" Chen Dao asked.

"What you need most are medicines, weapons and ammunition. If you can, throw more mines and barbed wire to us."

"Okay, I'll contact the First Air Force."

······

To the north of Valen Village, in the woods where Colonel Kuba and his 40th Infantry Regiment once hid, Major General Lewandowski sat on the ground with a frustration. From time to time, he looked up at the sky through the gaps between branches and leaves. A small plane of unknown model was hovering constantly.

His remnants, the cavalrymen of the Bodsky Cavalry Brigade, also hid in the woods with a lonely expression, sitting or lying, and they knew that the sun did not set and the night did not fall, and Lewandowsky would not let them leave the woods.

Yesterday was a nightmare day for the cavalrymen of the Bodsky Cavalry Brigade. The Germans' aircraft flocked like crows seeing dead bodies and rushing towards them. The neighing sounds of war horses when they were frightened, the wailing sounds of wounded soldiers and the explosion of bombs could not be concealed.

The cavalry did not lack courage. They fought against the "Crows of Death" with their only two 40mm anti-aircraft guns and all machine guns, but were defeated under the bombing of air bombs.

The first round of air strikes destroyed the two anti-aircraft guns, and at the same time, they also destroyed almost all the motor vehicles and cavalry's courage to resist.

When the second round of air strikes came, no cavalry were thinking of shooting at the German crew with machine guns. They had only one thought in their minds, that was to escape.

The cavalry either looked for lush weeds to hide, or searched for woods to avoid air strikes. They ran out of their hiding place until dark.

Lewandowski regained the scattered cavalry and rescued the wounded for most of the night.

After collectively transferring the wounded to a relatively lush forest, Major General Lewandowski continued to embark on the road south with the remnants of nearly 2,000 people who had lost nearly 2,000 people, hoping to join the 40th Infantry Regiment and then launch an attack on the German army.

Just as Lewandowski was trying to lead his subordinates to teach the Germans a lesson and avenge the subordinates who died in the air strike, the sky turned pale again, and panic followed.

Lewandowski ordered his subordinates to hide in the woods beside the road without hesitation. Not long after, the "death crows" indeed appeared in the sky, but they only changed their targets.

In the woods, Lewandowski looked at the German aircraft group that was diving and bombing in the southern sky, and drew a cross on his chest in a heavy mood, secretly praying for his comrades in the 40th Infantry Regiment.

At noon, Major General Lewandowski, who had just had a battlefield lunch, received a shocking order from his superiors: the 40th Infantry Regiment was annihilated by the German army, and the flanks of the 14th Infantry Division were exposed to the German army. The situation is very dangerous now. Your troops quickly go south to recover Valen Village, and at least they must restrain the German army in Valen Village and ensure the safety of the flanks of the 14th Infantry Division.

The telegram also stated that the German army that annihilated the 40th Infantry Regiment was about one regiment, which was the intelligence sent by Colonel Kuba before surrender.

There are less than 3,000 troops on hand now, which is only equivalent to a German infantry regiment, attacking the enemy one-to-one ratio. This task is really arduous. After thinking for a while, Lewandowsky decided to take advantage of the night. Even if the Germans cannot be eliminated, at least they must restrain them and make them dare not attack the 14th Infantry Division with confidence.

Under the torture of light, Lewandowski finally waited for the night to come and used the armored reconnaissance company to open the way. Lewandowski led his troops to embark on the journey south again. Before he could go far, Lewandowski heard a faint explosion from the distance.

"Did you have encountered an ambush from the enemy?" Lewandowski was very puzzled and then ruled out this idea, because there was only one explosion, and there was no other explosion, nor gunshots.

Not long after, Lewandowski received information and a reconnaissance car that was leading the reconnaissance company hit a mine.
