Chapter 44: An Uneasy Journey
Three days later, deep in the wilderness in the southern part of Saland, the geology had changed from the Gobi to the desert. Hu Bin and his party had arrived near the destination shown in the map. The hot sunlight made people feel invigorated. The trek after a few days made the team very embarrassed. The only female scissors in the team were already complaining about the damn weather.
It's time to camp again. The desert at night is very dangerous. Not only is the temperature very low, but there are many dangers that can easily erase the careless travelers.
With the efforts of everyone, several tents were set up, and someone took out dry firewood from the pack horses and lit the bonfire. The fragrance of vegetable soup and dried meat began to spread in the middle of the temporary camp.
"We will reach the ruins tomorrow, I hope the entrance is not that difficult to find." Scissors murmured. After a few days of getting along, she had gradually adapted to getting along with her teammates. She was no longer aggressive and took out her flying knife at any time.
"What are you talking about? There is no entrance to the tomb that I can't find. Are you underestimating me?" Mr. Friesen obviously entered a delusional state, and he danced and made a declaration to the scissors, without realizing that his barbecue was pulled away by the big guy.
Ted finally met his opponent. The dull and taciturn man had an amazing appetite every day, but everyone was not surprised by the load on his thickened armor and the special tower shield.
Hu Bin ignored the thief who was playing tricks. He was not worried about not being able to find the remains. He had enough supplies to stay here for more than half a month, and it would be okay if he couldn't find it within a few days. Because of his identity, although everyone respected him very much, the barriers were inevitable. Fortunately, with Howard, the number one, there, otherwise with his followers' dull personality, they would be suffocating to death.
"Howard, what did you do during your lifetime?" Hu Bin took the initiative to chat.
"Haha, an ordinary white-collar worker in Canada is running around with his girlfriend every day, and he is a very boring life. But now thinking about it, it's a good day!" Howard said with nostalgia, and the wooden stick in his hand stirred the bonfire one after another.
"Yes, I can't imagine that I have no feeling about slitting other people's throats now. Since the novice mission, I have begun to forget the ordinary feeling. Have we become cold-blooded and inhumane?" Hu Bin tilted his head, trying to see Howard's expression.
"I never thought that I had to go back." Howard seemed to think of something, and the gentleness on his face flashed, but he became firm in an instant.
"Haha, you can see it openly. I have been thinking that since I am dead, what form will I exist after returning to my original world? Have you ever thought about the purpose of space?" Hu Bin put his hands behind his head and fell to the ground to look at the stars in the sky.
"No matter what, everything is to survive." Howard obviously cared about something and didn't want to continue the topic.
"Yes, everything is for living." Hu Bin closed his eyes, and for a moment, only the crisp sound of firewood burning was left.
Hu Bin suddenly stood up, his face became serious, and his hand was placed on the hilt of the sword. The others were stunned for a moment, and then quickly took out their equipment to guard. There were no rookies in the team, and it was obvious that Hu Bin discovered something. The entire team quickly formed a defensive formation, protecting the Eagle-Hooked Nose, the two Eyes of Death, and the Priest Lorraine in the middle.
The thief Friesen showed off a dagger and merged into the night like a shadow. A glimmer of light appeared in Hu Bin's eyes, and the elf blood had been activated. He just heard the sound of horse hooves on the ground. This trick was learned from the marshal during winter hunting.
The bonfire was quickly extinguished, and a wolf howl came from a distance. He raised his ears and listened for a while, and made gestures with everyone. A group of sand thieves passed by here, and the direction of action was probably towards them. The number was about 40, including more than 10 cavalrymen.
Friesen was indeed very experienced and reported their information to his teammates before the enemy noticed it. Even Hu Bin, who has the elf blood, could not detect such accurate information in such a short time.
He looked at Hu Bin with one eye and found that the other party was also looking at him. He smiled helplessly and took over the command. It seemed that the lord wanted to see his ability. People who could lead the army to attack cities and villages would not understand command.
The mission was quickly assigned to remove, and the remote personnel were hidden behind a sand dune. The cavalry was handed over to Hu Bin and his men. I believe that the four fully armed knights would let the opponent know what a regular army was. Others, including the one-eyed himself, secretly touched the sand thief's infantry, and Lorraine was naturally left in the camp. Friesen? God knows where he is.
The battle started with several missing crossbows, and the robbers were in a mess in an instant, not expecting to be attacked by humans in such a remote area.
Hu Bin and three followers accelerated, forming a straight line of troops, as if a legion was charging.
With the shouting of the robber leader, the robbers quickly broke free from the chaos. More than a dozen cavalrymen launched a counterattack against Hu Bin and his party, while the rest cursed and lined up a simple array to pounce on each other.
When the sand thieves saw clearly what was rushing towards the opposite side, they had no time to regret and fear. Four tank-like figures rushed into the middle of them with their spears, and before they could even scream, several corpses were thrown away from their mounts. When the others subconsciously handed the weapons in front of the figures, the cavalry realized who they were attacking.
It was a regular knight with the aristocratic emblem. Anyone could make them escape. The garbage in their hands could not even leave traces on the opponent's armor. Hu Bin would not give the sand thieves more time to think. The blood-stained mace hammer that put back the leather case declared that the entire cavalry was wiped out.
Howard was not in the mood to watch Hu Bin perform like a autumn wind sweeping away fallen leaves. The seven of them had to deal with more than 20 sand thieves rushing over from the opposite side.
However, the old one-eyed, who was about to make a big fight, just yelled and was about to chop people, and then he was extremely confused to find that the opponent was fleeing. He twitched his eyes and cursed and lowered his weapon.
Howard rushed the fastest, but the scissors' flying knife reached the enemy's throat first than his sword. A free knight was spared from the charge and directly cut the leader of the sand thief in front of him with a knife. The leader's wailing and struggling scared the other sand thieves silly. When the big guy and one-eyed chased everyone in front, they saw the remaining sand thief being chased by several people, and then the knights who were chasing and the cold arrows shot from afar fell to the ground one by one.
Everyone began to skillfully finish the corpse, sorted out and collected the spoils, and then returned to the camp to meet with Lorraine. One-eyed thought for a long time and finally realized that the thief Friesen had not come back yet.
Everyone hurriedly called the thief and prepared to recall their teammates who were untraceable. Before they left, they heard Friesen's sorrowful screams filling the entire desert.
Friesen was quite proud of his skills. The stupid sand thieves who were like pigs were killed by him in a row, but he didn't even react. "It's really unchallenging. I am a genius in this industry. How can those warriors who only know how to understand the art of fighting?" Friesen played with the coins he touched from the corpse of the whistle and was very unscathing to the teammates who cut melons and vegetables.
"Oh? Then what kind of methods can be considered art." A crisp voice behind him asked.
"Of course, yes, anyway, my method is art." Friesen defended himself shamelessly and nodded smugly.
Then Friesen's body suddenly stiffened. The sound was not the sound of scissors in the team, let alone the scissors could not find themselves at all. Finally, Friesen, who finally realized something was wrong, immediately threw a marble. Peng's sound, and a cloud of smoke covered his figure.
Cold sweat soaked his hood, but Friesen did not dare to move. He hid himself under the sand and observed around carefully, but did not find a single figure in the empty desert.
"Is it because I had too much food tonight that I had hallucinations?" Friesen kept comforting himself, but at the same time he deeply regretted not meeting with his teammates immediately. He could only expect his teammates to find out that he was missing and then search for him. When he was touched by someone else, he didn't realize that this fact was too terrible. Is the other party a ghost? Friesen had doubts about himself for the first time since he became famous, and how long has it been since he experienced this feeling of fear?
"The teammates probably have returned to the camp. Why haven't the old one-eyed men come yet?" Friesen's nose smelled a faint fragrance. He must have been around him now, and he felt much more at ease. But wherever he could only hear the sound of wind in his ears. There were only stones and sand on the open ground. His calves began to itch, and it might be that the sand entered his pants. Friesen's patience was gradually swallowed by fear and anxiety.
