Chapter two hundred and six brave and resourceful

.With no choice, Pitt can only start with the least impact.

After obtaining the information of the 47th Army advancing towards Pyongyang, Pete arranged a task for the South Korean army on the Eastern Front: launch a tentative attack as soon as possible, and strive to hold the main army of the Volunteer Army.

This command is a bit vague.

Although Pitt directly issued an order to the 9th Armored Division and mobilized other Korean troops, Pitt did not explain clearly whether to delay the 65th Army, or the 39th Army, and how much time it would take for it to gain.

Peter had no choice, because the Korean army really had nothing to count on.

By the fifteenth day, no unit of the 400,000 Korean troops on the eastern front had the corresponding offensive ability, and the Ninth Armored Division had not even recovered its vitality.

At that time, in order to restore combat effectiveness of the 9th Panzer Division as soon as possible, the Korean army tried every means.

Before the military aid provided by the United States was in place, the South Korean army even sent some M60 main battle tanks that had been sealed for more than ten years to the front line.

Whether these tanks can fight is definitely a question.

However, in addition to the Ninth Armored Division on the Eastern Front, there is also a Korean army ace force, namely the Seventh Armored Brigade.

Among the Korean army, the 7th Armored Brigade is very special because it is the only armored force mainly made of Russian equipment and is also the imaginary enemy force of the Korean army.

Before the collapse of the former Soviet Union, it owed huge debts to South Korea. After Russia's independence, in order to repay its debts, it sold a large number of weapons and equipment to South Korea, including 200 T-80 series main battle tanks. After obtaining these Russian-made equipment, South Korea formed the Seventh Armored Brigade.

In previous battles, the 7th Armored Brigade was not very effective.

It’s not that the brigade cannot fight, but that there is no suitable battlefield.

Although with the strength of the Seventh Armored Brigade, it is more than enough to serve as a forward assault mission and deal with the People's Army-72 main battle tank, in terms of appearance, the difference between the T-80 and the T-72 is not much, and it has not reached the point where the e-8c and other reconnaissance aircraft can be distinguished. If the Seventh Armored Brigade is allowed to act as an assault force, it will definitely be a big problem to identify the enemy and us.

In addition, ammunition replenishment is also a problem.

For more than ten years, the Seventh Armored Brigade has been an imaginary enemy force of the South Korean army. It has participated in all exercises of the South Korean army and often conducted actual combat exercises with the US military. The consumption of ammunition and spare parts is amazing. Before the outbreak of the war, South Korea did not have much Russian ammunition reserved, and Russia had long announced that it would remain neutral and not sell arms to both sides of the war. The fighter jets obtained by the Volunteer Army were purchased through the Chinese government. In order to maintain its combat effectiveness, South Korea had thought of many ways, such as purchasing a batch of spare parts from Ukraine, allowing the United States to obtain some ammunition from Iraq and India. Even so, the combat readiness rate of the Seventh Armored Division was still not high.

For the past two months, the 7th Armored Division has been "playing soy sauce" in the rear.

If the troops were not tight, the Korean army would have to take on the heavy responsibility on the Eastern Front, and the Korean army would not have sent the Seventh Armored Brigade.

However, the combat effectiveness of the 7th Armored Brigade cannot be underestimated.

Among all the main forces of the South Korean army, only the Seventh Armored Brigade remained in a reorganized state and there was no combat loss.

If the South Korean army wants to launch an attack on the Eastern Front, the 7th Armored Brigade will definitely be the main force of the assault.

At least, under the influence of electromagnetic warfare, it is difficult for the coalition forces to conduct air strikes, and the problem of enemy-to-we identification is no longer prominent, and the main combat equipment of the Seventh Armored Brigade is not bad.

However, there are not only coalition forces who are fighting offensive ideas.

Huang Zhibo's order has been issued, and Wei Chenglong feels that he can "act freely".

Anyway, the first task of the Sixty-Fifth Army is to stabilize the eastern front and resist the counterattack of the South Korean army, and the most effective way of defense is to attack.

In his opinion, rather than waiting for the Korean army to come, it is better to come to him on his own initiative.

If the Korean army is forced to defend, Yuanshan will naturally not be threatened.

After making up his mind, Wei Chenglong began to act.

After letting the troops have lunch an hour in advance, Wei Chenglong issued an offensive order, allowing the three battalions of the 65th Army to take the lead in opening the base and advance towards Gaocheng along the coastline.

At this time, the 7th Armored Brigade of the South Korean Army was also preparing for the departure.

It can be said that Wei Chenglong is very bold and even a little reckless.

At that time, the 71st Special Mixed Fleet of the US military was still operating at the sea of Japan, but was threatened by submarines. It was not close to the Korean Peninsula, but was in the south of Yuling Island and near the Japanese territorial waters. If it were not for the limited escort force, the US military would likely have divided some cruisers and destroyers to perform close-range fire support missions.

When the Sixty-Fifth Army attacked, the only air-to-air protection umbrella was the electromagnetic weapon.

This kind of air defense method can prevent the troops from being hit by close air, but it cannot effectively deal with blocking bombing. To be precise, long-range air strikes are carried out with ammunition outside the defense zone.

However, in the environment of electromagnetic warfare, the efficiency of long-range air strikes of the coalition forces is very low.

At that time, the coalition forces had found some ways to deal with electromagnetic warfare, including a long-range ammunition using an inertial navigation system.

In principle, it is not difficult to deal with electromagnetic weapons.

By placing electronic devices in a completely closed metal container, they can be protected from electromagnetic waves and will not be destroyed by electromagnetic weapons.

It is just that when implementing it in detail, it is very difficult.

The main purpose of electronic equipment is to improve the battlefield perception ability of the troops, so it needs to receive and send information. If it is completely isolated and becomes a closed system, the role of electronic equipment is very limited. For example, on fighter jets, the control system can be electromagnetically shielded, but it is impossible to fully shield radar, infrared detection equipment, GPS navigation equipment, tactical data links and other electronic equipment.

On ammunition, this problem has been resolved.

If the inertial guidance system is used completely, the ammunition does not need to obtain external electromagnetic information, and it can provide comprehensive electromagnetic shielding of the control system to prevent the electronic equipment that controls the ammunition from being affected.

More importantly, the coalition forces have ready-made ammunition in their hands, and the modification is very simple.

JDAM guided bombs have an inertial navigation system, which can be controlled by the inertial navigation system after GPS failure. What the coalition forces need to do is to remove the GPS guidance system on the bomb, then fully shield the bomb, place the electronic equipment of the guidance system in a container that can shield all electromagnetic waves, and finally a set of mechanical devices control the pneumatic surface and control the bomb's flying trajectory.

However, the inertial navigation system is not omnipotent.

Without mid-way correction, the accuracy of the best inertial navigation system is about 0.5 per ten thousand, that is, every 10,000 meters of flight, the compass deviation is 0.5 meters. The inertial navigation system used on bombs is very small, and the accuracy will not be very high. The deviation is generally about one thousandth, that is, every kilometer of flight, the compass deviation is one meter. In order to ensure the safety of the carrier aircraft, the bomb throwing distance is generally more than fifty kilometers. If a rocket booster engine and gliding wing are installed, the throwing distance can be increased to more than one hundred kilometers. Based on fifty kilometers, the deviation of the bomb is as high as fifty meters. In actual combat, because there are errors in the satellite map used for guidance, the deviation is often more than eighty meters.

Such a huge deviation is no longer considered an accurate guided weapon.

The excessively huge deviation forced the coalition forces to give up close air support and could only use inertial guided bombs to deal with the volunteers behind the front line.

In order to offset the impact of deviation, the coalition forces adopted two methods: one is to increase the amount of bombs, that is, to throw multiple bombs at the bombing target at the same time; the other is to use a large number of sub-compartment bullets to increase the range of bombs.

It must be admitted that the coalition forces have indeed made efforts to take advantage of air superiority as much as possible.

The Sixty-Fifth Army launched an attack at this time and took great risks. Fortunately, the focus of the coalition forces was on the battlefield on the Western Front.

Two hours later, the coalition forces discovered that the vanguard of the 65th Army was advancing towards Gaocheng.

At this time, the 7th Armored Brigade had already assembled.

Although the South Korean army called for air support as soon as possible, the coalition forces were organizing air forces to attack the 47th Army and the 54th Army, and there was no way to provide effective air support to the South Korean army.

At around 3:30 p.m., the coalition forces carried out the first bombing of the vanguard of the Sixty-Fifth Army.

The scale is not large, with only twelve Korean F-15ks dropped forty-eight 2,000-pound jdam bombs.

Because the KJ-2000 of the Volunteer Army discovered this fighter fleet in time, the vanguard of the Sixty-Fifth Army's 65th Army was evacuated in time before the bomb fell.

This round of bombing only delayed the Sixty-Fifth Army for an hour and did not cause much damage.

However, Wei Chenglong did not miss such a good opportunity.

After the bombing, he asked the engineers to set up hundreds of fake targets, then ignite them with gasoline, and threw some recycled shell shells near the fake targets, disguised as destroyed main combat equipment. In order to do more similarity, Wei Chenglong also asked the medical soldiers to conduct a "fire-aid training" on the front line, mobilizing hundreds of officers and soldiers to play the wounded, and also asked the People's Army, which was accompanying the operation, to organize thousands of civilian forces to help transport the "wounded".

This move has an immediate effect.

At that time, the coalition forces believed that the 65th Army had suffered heavy damage during the bombing, and the vanguard had lost its assault capability. The only one who continued to advance towards Gaocheng was an armored reconnaissance unit. In fact, after the bombing was over, the first one to move south was indeed the armored reconnaissance unit sent by Wei Chenglong, with only one armored battalion.

More importantly, this judgment made the South Korean army think that the opportunity for counterattack was ripe.

At five o'clock in the afternoon, the 7th Armored Brigade set off from Gaocheng.

In the evening, the two sides encountered each other about twenty-five kilometers north of Gaocheng.

Because the entire Seventh Armored Brigade was dispatched, the scale was much larger than that of an armored battalion, Wei Chenglong did not let the armored reconnaissance forces fight hard, but instead asked them to retreat while fighting and lure the Korean army over.
