Chapter 4 The Two Men in the Valley

It was already past nine o'clock in the morning when Roland left the spire.

During the day, he had almost no free time to dominate himself, because he got a new task: assisting Weiss to create a beautifully shaped embroidery that enchants the intermediate mana recovery, and complete it within 2 days.

If everything is ready and you can complete such an enchantment, it will take only half an hour at most. But the difficulty lies in the preliminary preparation work. There are at least 20 materials and more than 100 steps in the pre-treatment of materials, which is quite cumbersome.

If you want to complete the tuition in 2 days, you must work overtime all night.

"Fermia is such a qualified blood-sucking capitalist!"

There are most of the materials needed for enchanting decorations in the enchantment room, but there are still a few missing. One of them is called 'red clay', which is a necessary material for making high-temperature molds. Roland has to dig in the mountains.

Roland carried a basket on his back, took a shovel, and walked towards the back door of Baishi Fort.

When you go out from the back door of the stone fort, it is a valley called Echo Valley.

This is the only place where Roland can enter and exit. The valley has a wide belly and a narrow mouth, which is like a water scoop. The valley is surrounded by insurmountable cliffs. The only exit of the "water scoop" is White Stone Fort.

Even so, Roland didn't go alone. Every time he went out, he would have two living zombies following him.

According to Vermia's meaning, the zombies were to protect his safety, but the fools knew that if he had the intention of running away, the two zombies would definitely swallow him alive on the spot.

"Ho~~ho~~"

The zombies made a heavy breathing sound like a patient with severe bronchitis.

Judging from the appearance, the two zombies were a man and a woman during their lifetime, with no strands on their bodies. Their mouths were covered with sticky saliva like beer, their pupils were scattered, their corneas were white, and their skin had been dried, brown-black. They limped when walking, and their posture was distorted, very much like the zombies in the movie.

Staying with such a living zombie, Roland felt uncomfortable all over. With every breath, he could smell a strong stench of zombie from the surrounding air, which was fishy and pungent, making people want to vomit.

He really wanted to run far away, but he couldn't do it. As soon as he ran, the zombies would follow him, always inseparable from him.

Helplessly, Roland could only make fun of his hard work: 'These two zombies are new faces. They are not bad in figure, especially the female zombies, with big breasts and buttocks, and a good face. They should have been a beauty during their lifetime. Why are they so unthinkable to provoke Vermia?'

As he thought about it, Roland walked through the weedy path, crossed the rugged piles of gravel, and arrived at the low-lying area beside the stream in the valley.

There is a large puddle more than one meter deep in the depression, which is a trap Roland specializes in hunting small animals.

He came to the pit and took a look, and he was happy: "Ha~ a big harvest."

There were three big forest frogs squatting in the puddle, the big ones were as big as a palm, and the small ones were similar to fists. In order to survive the cold winter, each big forest frog was as fat as a ball, which was enough to give Roland a full meal.

He jumped into the puddle, easily grabbed the big forest frog, and threw all three unlucky guys into the basket: 'Haha, don't be hungry today, it's not bad.'

Roland was in a happy mood, humming a song in his mouth, and continued to walk upstream towards the red clay collection point.

As he walked, he suddenly stopped and his eyes fixed on a huge rock by the stream.

The stone is rectangular, with a flat upper part and a natural stone table. On the flat surface of the stone, there are actually a pile of pheasant feathers, with brown and black blood spots sprinkled beside the feathers, and the spots are not large, but they are very eye-catching.

Roland was slightly surprised and walked forward to take a closer look.

He saw more things, in addition to the pheasant feathers, there was also a pheasant's head. The broken edge of the head was smooth, and it was cut out by a sharp weapon. On the mud by the stream, there were several footprints. Judging from the shape and size, they should be the footprints of an adult man.

‘Hiss ~ There are people in the valley!’

‘Who is this guy? There is only one way to get in Echo Valley. How did this guy pass through White Stone Castle?’ More doubts emerge.

Roland's heartbeat accelerated a little, and his eyes were staring at the surrounding mountains and forests.

There was a whistling sound of wind in the forest, and the branches touched each other from time to time, making a 'gurgling~ crunching' sound. In the depths of the woods, one or two wild mountain trolls would occasionally be heard, and everything was normal.

But Luo Lin didn't think so. He felt that there seemed to be a pair of eyes staring at him in the deep woods. He was uncomfortable: "No, I have to find this guy!"

Roland once again carefully observed the traces of the mud.

The footprints are deep and shallow, and they extend all the way upstream of the stream. Beside the footprints, you can occasionally find brown and black blood spots. The mud in some places is hard and the footprints are almost impossible to see clearly, but the broken grass stems are enough to guide the direction.

"This man carried the washed pheasant in his hand and went upstream to the stream."

Roland followed the guidance of footprints and blood points and followed them all the way.

After walking about a thousand meters, Roland saw a steep rock wall in front of him. The rock wall was only seven or eight meters high, with forsythia flowers growing on the top. The dense flower vines hang down along the rock wall, almost covering the rock wall with two-thirds of it.

"It's the straw curtain cave!" Roland's pupils shrank.

The Grass Curtain Cave was named by Roland himself. In order to enchant and live, he went back and forth from the sound valley every few days. Once he encountered heavy rain in Piaobo, he accidentally discovered a cave on the cliff.

The hole is about 1.5 meters above the ground, and the entrance of the hole is almost completely blocked by the branches of forsythia. As long as a bonfire is raised inside, it is warm, comfortable and hidden, and it is a nearly perfect hiding place.

‘If it were me, I would definitely hide here.’

Roland became more and more nervous. He found a rock more than 40 meters away from the entrance of the cave, and then squatted in the grass behind the stone to hide. His eyes stared at the entrance of the cave through the gaps in the grass, and began to wait patiently.

"Who will it be?" Roland was puzzled, but deep in his heart, there was still a hint of expectation.

Five years have passed since the monotonous life day after day. For five years, a dog-day necromancer is treated as a slave and exploited by a bone-knocking and marrow-sucking.

He wanted to change this situation all the time, but he knew very well that relying solely on his own strength was almost impossible. Now, such variables may appear in the valley, but it may not be his chance to change his destiny!

Time passed by minute by minute, and after about twenty minutes, Roland's ears moved slightly and heard an extremely low voice, as if someone was talking.

Roland's heart hopped suddenly, and he was very excited: "Sure enough, someone!"

As he was puzzled, the voices rang again. This time it was clearer than the first time, but he still couldn't hear the specific content.

Roland looked in the sound and saw two men walking out of the woods about fifty or sixty meters away in front of them. They were holding a wooden stick with a thick eyebrows. One of them was carrying a half-large pig's body on his back.

Both of these men were very strong, one of whom was short and thick, with a beard and a huge scar on his face, almost tearing his face apart in half. The other was quite tall, at least one head taller than Roland, with brilliant brown and golden hair, and looked calm, with a pair of eyes very sharp, just like an eagle.

"I'm not very thin, but these two people are actually a big circle stronger than me. They can hunt giant beasts like wild boars. They should be professional warriors... Well, was it the guy who attacked Vermia half a month ago?"

At this moment, the short and thick man suddenly roared: "Goddess's horse-riding cloth, how long will it take for me to hide in this kind of life!"

The volume is very loud, the voice is like a broken gong, which is quite unpleasant.

"Shhh~ Be gentle~ I want to live a few more days." The tall man whispered, with a very thick voice.

"I had known that the mage was so powerful, I wouldn't have taken this trip. Hey~~ Now all my brothers are dead, and we are still trapped in this ghost place. Not to mention touching women, we can't even drink a drop of horse urine. It's really bad luck." After saying that, the man with a rough voice began to curse, such as "goddess's feces", "** offense", "Holy Light Sewer", etc.

"Okay, okay, as long as you are alive, there is always a way." The tall man kept persuading, and finally calmed down the short and thick man.

Behind the rocks, Roland had already made up his mind. He pointed at the two people in the distance and made a gesture to the living zombies that were inseparable from him.
