Chapter 18 The Well-behaved Academy Mage
Under the hillside, Mage Miller closely monitored the battle situation ahead.
As soon as the barrier of protection against evil was broken, he burst into tears and immediately shouted: "The situation is not good! Archer, cover me!"
He quickly picked up a light wooden shield and ran towards the top of the hillside.
At the same time, a golden light lit up on the head of the staff in his hand. After half a second, the staff pointed to Hrud in the distance: "Protect the evil barrier!"
In an instant, the dim light on Hrud's body lit up again.
Miller felt a little relieved and shouted loudly: "Master Sergeant, don't hurry to enter the door! Wait for me!"
Hrud heard the voice of the mage. The attack just now was like a poisonous snake, which made him realize that his opponent was much stronger than he thought. He dared not be careless, raised his shield to protect his head and face, and slowly retreated towards the shield formation composed of swords, shields, warriors.
When he retreated, Hrud smelled an indescribable fishy smell coming from the break of the city gate. The smell was mixed with rotten meat, blood, and shit and urine, making people feel vomited when they smelled it.
Through the big hole in the wooden door, Hrud saw the evil necromancer.
The guy stood at the gate of the castle, hiding behind a pile of zombies. Next to him was a necromancer covered with heavy armor and holding heavy shields. His face was as gray as a corpse, wearing a silver-patterned black robe, holding a black skull in his left hand, and a blood-lit dagger in his right hand. His eyes were gloomy, like a vulture that found the corpse.
Originally, Hrud despised this necromancer, but now, he was facing a great enemy and did not dare to act rashly before Mage Miller arrived.
Mage Miller was not slow. In less than half a minute, he ran to Hrud.
Hrud glanced at the wooden shield in the mage's hand and saw two black bone arrows inserted on the shield. It was obvious that he was not easy to run along the way. He felt full of apology: "Master, I was reckless."
Miller waved his hands: "Now is not the time to talk about these."
The golden light on his body was flashing, and it was obviously blessed with the evil protective barrier.
Hrud asked softly: "Miller, what should I do now?"
Miller also saw the necromancer at the entrance of the castle, pondered for a while, and he whispered: "Master Sergeant, our mission is to find His Highness, right?"
"Of course." Hrud nodded.
"So, please let me say a few words to Vermia, maybe it will save you from a conflict," Miller said.
Hrud frowned: "What, are you going to make a deal with such an evil mage?"
Miller did not deny this. He nodded to the sword and shield warrior beside him and whispered softly: "Master Sergeant, they are still very young, they are all pillars of a family, and we are not prepared enough. If we attack hard, the consequences will be unpredictable."
Hrud was stunned for a moment and wanted to refute, but after speaking several times, he finally didn't say anything.
He acknowledged Miller's approach.
Seeing that Hrud had convinced him, Miller turned his head, raised his voice and shouted, "Permia, we are here to find people. As long as you hand over the person we want, we will retreat immediately now!"
Through the brief spell confrontation just now, Miller roughly understood the strength level of both sides. In terms of spells alone, he was completely unsure of defeating Vermia, not to mention that this was the opponent's home court. With the strength of their more than 40 warriors, the consequences were unpredictable.
Unfortunately, Vermia does not seem to intend to reconcile.
He grinned and sneered: "You have angered me, but you still want to escape unstoppable. You even want to take people away from my castle?! Have your dream!"
The sergeant commander Hrud giggled with his teeth: "This guy is so crazy!"
Miller quietly waved at Hrude and signaled him to calm down. He continued to ask, "What do you want?"
Vermiya stuck out her tongue and slowly licked her lips: "I didn't think of anything, but my castle lacks some powerful necro warriors. I think the sergeant leader beside you is quite good. Of course, those warriors and archers are not bad either. They are strong and well-trained, and will definitely guard my castle as hard as an iron barrel."
Miller said coldly: "Fumia, aren't you worried about failure and being killed?"
"fail?"
Vermiya seemed to hear a huge joke: "Why did you fail? Just these stupid warriors around you? Or you, a disciplined academy mage? Man, I knew at first sight that you didn't learn a single attack spell!"
Miller's pupils shrank because Vermia was right. He did not learn attack spells. One reason was that attack spells were very expensive and he was a civilian, so he could not afford to learn them. Two reason was that attack spells were extremely risky. Once a spell backlash occurred, even if he did not die, he would basically bid farewell to his mage career.
In fact, it was not him who did it alone. The entire Kingdom of Glenmai, 33,000 formal mages, and at least 30,000 people made the same choice as him.
"Hahahaha~ coward!" Vermiya knew that he had guessed correctly. He laughed wildly, and as he smiled, his face suddenly became colder: "Master, do you think I don't know what you think? You choose to retreat now, but when you go back, you will inevitably report the matter here to the magic supervision committee. Next time, what I have to face is not you cowards, but those golden monsters!"
Miller was speechless because Vermia was right again.
Evil mages like Phimia should be handled by the Light Spirit Mage of the Sorcery Regulatory Commission, which is the custom of the Kingdom.
Vermia began to take the initiative to invite the battle: "Master, come on, let me see what skills you have learned in the academy."
OK, there is nothing to say about things to this point.
Miller stared at Vermia tightly, paying attention to his every move, and slowly retreated to the shield formation: "Hrud, leave two people to protect me. I will block the other party's evil spells for you."
Hrud nodded, turned around and looked at the warrior behind him, pointing out the two unlucky guys who had just been shot by the skeleton arrow: "Chelun, Muras, stay and protect the mage with your life."
The two injured soldiers stood up, holding shields, standing next to Miller, staring at the opposite dead spirit with a vigilant look on their faces.
"Others, follow me in!"
Hrud jumped into the city gate, and the other soldiers immediately followed.
When he arrived inside the castle wall, Hrud issued an order quickly: "Team 2, go and capture the city wall and clean up the skeleton archers! Team 1 archers suppress archery. Team 2 archers are ready to climb the city wall and occupy the high ground at any time! Team 1 crusade, kill the deceased spirit wizard with me!"
“Hi~~~”
The soldiers roared and divided the troops into two groups. The archers outside the castle also began to move towards the castle.
Hrud let out a loud roar and rushed towards Vermia first: "Nether, you are dead today!"
"Sad stupid ass!"
Vermia waved her hand and the zombies gathered in front of him made a whistle in unison. Among them, 20 of them were still surrounding Vermia, and more than 40 other zombies rushed towards Hrud.
Hrud smiled contemptuously. He held a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, either slashing with a sword or hitting with a shield. He easily blocked the attack of the zombies with his combat instinct.
For Hrud, who was all in steel armor, these zombies were terrible at all. They were just a bit stinky and ugly. His real opponent was also a necromancer. Most of his attention was focused on Vermia's every move.
After only 10 seconds of fighting between the two sides, Hrud and his soldiers had cut off the heads of at least 20 zombies, but no one on their own was injured.
The ground around this group of soldiers was covered with body parts of living zombies. They were more than thirty meters away from Vermia.
Suddenly, a hideous smile appeared on Vermia's face. He raised the black skeleton in his left hand, and the skeleton's eyes shone with dazzling blood.
On the other side, Mage Miller closely monitored the battle situation. When he saw Vermiya take action, he saw that the corpse on the ground was about to start to change color quickly and bloated.
He immediately guessed his opponent's intention, and his mind was shocked: "It turned out to be a blood explosion technique, a poisonous mind! A poisonous spell!"
Blood Explosion, advanced necromancer, is quite terrifying, but the mana consumes a lot of power when used, and has extremely high requirements for the fineness of mana control. As far as Miller [Pencil Novel] knows, if you don’t practice for two or three years and practice spells for energy, no mage dares to use this move in fierce battles.
