57 Judgment

Hollywood has been a place where money is the most important thing since its establishment.

It is not ruled out that there are many classic movies produced by Hollywood over the past few decades, but Hollywood is completely in terms of the production method or operation mode of the movie.

If there is no market factor in a movie, the film company will not start shooting. If the audience's reaction during the screening is not as good as expected, then they will soon come down from the theater, absolutely not talking about the silhouette.

Universal Films has a theater chain that is not as good as MGM and Paramount, but there are nearly 2,000 large and small cinemas. This number is still quite considerable, enough to ensure that a moderately invested movie will recover the cost.

The question now is that Universal Film Company’s own movies cannot be screened, so why should you put them?

"We've made a good movie!" Nicholas Sink looked like he was about to knock on Lemmer's mind: "Carl, you watched it too..."

Lemmer: "It's useless to mention this to me. I admit I like this movie very much, but I don't know what it will do once it is released."

Victor laughs.

There are no good people in Hollywood. This is true at all. Among all the bosses of the company, Lemmer is a loyal and honest person, but he is not a fool in the face of real interests.

"Mr. Lemmer, I will give you 30% of the theater profits." Victor said, causing Nicholas to jump up.

"You're crazy! Thirty percent!" Nicholas shouted.

Generally speaking, 5% of the theaters in Hollywood is already very good. Chaplin had just given Lemmer so much, but Victor said 30% if he had a heart disease. If Nicholas had a heart attack, he would probably fall head-on.

"Really?" Lemmer couldn't hide the excitement of his brows.

"Bad! Thirty percent?! What else do we make??" Nicholas pulled Victor: "Don't talk."

"I have a condition for thirty percent of the share," Victor said.

"You said." Lemmer was very interested.

"I want your cinema to take out at least 1,500 movies to show all my movies," Victor said.

"Impossible!" Lemmer refused without thinking: "Just, 1,500 stores!? I have only more than 2,000 cinemas on hand. Why do I only show your movies? The movies produced by Universal this year are still lined up."

"Then you can't get along with the money," Victor said. "Mr. Lemmer, do you think there are any movies you have on hand that are more prestigious than mine?"

"This..." Lemmer's old face turned red and then said, "That can't be released in all 1,500 families..."

"As long as you can make money, who do you care about his movies?" Victor rubbed his temples and said, "In this way, let's try it out and it will be screened for one day. You only have one thousand and five hundred cinemas to show you for one day. If the effect is good, then continue. If the effect is not good, then remove it."

"One day..." Lemmer was thinking.

Victor stood up and left: "If you don't want to do so, then I'll go to Paramount or another company, and it's 30% share..."

"Chengchengcheng, I agree, it's only one night!" said Lemmer.

"Trade." Victor laughed.

Lemmer quickly asked the secretary to draft the contract, and the two signed it.

Victor and Nicholas bid farewell.

Outside the door, Nicholas wanted to slap Victor to death: "You really dare to sit down with 30% of the profit! We worked hard and hard, why did we give so much profit to Lemmer at once?! In this way, do you know how much pressure we are?"

"No matter what, it's better to make less than to lose money. Besides, I don't know if I can make money." Victor shrugged.

Back at the headquarters of Legend Film Company, it was already midnight. In the office, Bernano sat in a chair and waited. When he saw Victor, he spread a piece of paper in front of Victor.

"What?" Victor said in surprise.

"Look," Bernano was too lazy to explain.

Victor picked it up and looked at the paper, his eyes widened.

On this piece of paper, there are a list of more than a dozen newspaper reporters and authors, and the amount of money is written behind them.

"What's this?" Victor said.

"Promotional and reporting funds," said Bernano. "I have already prepared these for you today. You can read the newspaper tomorrow morning. No matter what, you have to make a fuss about this movie first. If the audience wants to watch it, there is no need to worry about not having a cinema."

"It's another tens of thousands of dollars." Nicholas had a headache.

"I can't bear to bear the child and can't trap the wolf." Weiketou said.

Bernano stood up and said, "That's all I can help you. By the way, there is one thing I have to remind you."

"What?" Victor said.

Bernano looked out at the window: "There are people coming from New York. I don't know what comes to you. But the five major families don't seem to be willing to be a remaining single seedling like you. It has always been their habit to eradicate the roots. I haven't told Anthony that his temper is too hot and can easily cause unnecessary trouble. Weiketou, I mean, you might as well hand over this movie and sell it to other companies, and then hide yourself at a cost. I can arrange it for you. In a month, you can watch poplars in Sicily."

...

After Bernano left, Victor asked Leo to get a gun for himself.

The movie is already a mess, and the mafia in New York is coming again. His fucking five major families are not ordinary people, and this time there is a lot of danger.

Leo and his group of people advised Victor to avoid the limelight, but Victor refused.

It's the critical period of the movie right now, and nothing is more important than this.

"Just be careful, wait a few days before talking about it." Victor arranged for Leo to be careful, do a good job in the company's safety, and hire some security guards if you have time to deal with it first.

"It depends on tomorrow." After a day of work, Victor was exhausted and smiled at Nicholas.

Nicholas sighed: "Yes, God bless."

"You go and have a sleep." Looking at the old man, Victor couldn't bear it.

Nicholas shook his head: "Sleeping! I'll just wait for dawn to read the newspaper."

The two looked at each other and smiled.

Whether as art or commodity, movies require audiences, and the media is the bridge between the two. After the 1920s, Hollywood's publicity system was very mature. Every large-scale film produced by major companies would create overwhelming publicity in the media, and the media was also willing to participate.

In this way, three kinds of things are produced.

First, Hollywood has a specialized publicity talent, some of which are alone, and most of them are affiliated with major film companies.

Second, a large number of media that specializes in film layouts, including those media, from authoritative newspapers to street tabloids.

Third, a group of film critics who specialize in film criticism. These people have complex compositions, professional backgrounds, literary figures, well-known people in society, and second-rate people who became monks halfway through, mixed with good and bad luck.

In Hollywood, the main movies screened by large companies usually become hot topics of newspaper discussion on the second day of the premiere. Although Victor is not so arrogant that he sees his movies occupying the headlines of major newspapers, he still wants to see how people view this movie.

Because, this is related to whether this movie can occupy a large number of theaters in the future.
