Chapter 12 I owe someone money!

Victor decided to go and see the cinema.

The once glorious Ferro family is now the last industry.

Anthony sat in the car and kept crying, muttering that when he was old, he couldn't even save the Fellow family's property. Leo told Parker about his "feat" just now. As for Parker, this guy had a big bag on his forehead and was still dizzy now.

Looking at these people, Victor shook his head, laughing and crying.

The car drove out two blocks and stopped at an intersection.

It was already night, with traffic flowing like the sea, and neon lights shining.

This place is definitely the entertainment center of Los Angeles, with theaters, circuses, and concert halls rising from the crowd. Of course, it is more of a cinema. When huge posters are posted, they are all Hollywood stars today, and there are endless audiences.

"Our cinema should be good too." After getting off the car, Victor's depressed mood finally rose.

"Our cinema, twenty years ago, was the best cinema in Los Angeles, otherwise it wouldn't be named! Your grandpa, you like watching movies the most." Anthony laughed.

Very good, the best cinema in Los Angeles... Not bad!

But when Anthony brought Victor to him, Victor was stunned.

The location is indeed good, right next to the intersection, facing the square, but there are only a few posters at the entrance of the cinema. The Baroque style decoration outside is dilapidated, and the original majestic and luxuriousness has long been gone. Not to mention the audience, there is not even a beggar at the door.

"Isn't it the best cinema in Los Angeles?" Victor said in surprise.

"Twenty years ago, twenty years ago." Anthony laughed.

Victor was speechless.

After entering the cinema, Anthony took a long time to find an old man.

This old man is over seventy years old, trembling and struggling, and it is difficult to walk.

"Mr. Ferro!?" The old man was so excited that he burst into tears when he saw Victor: "It's fine if you're okay! It's fine if you're okay!"

"Shawn, how can he speak? What can he do?" Anthony gave the old man a blank look.

The old man held Victor's hand tightly: "Yes, yes, look at my mouth. Mr. Ferro, I have always been worried about you!"

Victor looked at Anthony, and Anthony explained: "Shawn, your grandfather's escort back then is the only one who survived, and he is the only one who is immortal."

"Mr. Ferro, I'll take you in, have tea, drink tea." The old man was very happy.

In the chaotic and garbage dump lounge, Sean poured tea and sat on the tattered sofa without leaving Victor. His expression was like a grandfather looking at his grandson, kind and sincere.

"Shawn, why don't there be anyone in our cinema?" Victor looked down.

"It's usually like this." Sean stood up: "The first few years it opened, it was very popular. Even big companies like Paramount and MGM were premiered by us, but it didn't work afterwards."

"Why can't it work?" Leo poured tea.

Sean raised his head: "It seems that it has been since 27. After the sound movie was created, our business here plummeted. Later, the more business it became more and more difficult. Until now, it can't be played in one night. No one comes."

A movie with sound? Victor understands it.

Hollywood, including the entire United States, played silent films in the early days. In 1927, the first step of the release of the audio feature film "The Jazz Singer", shocking the entire film industry and crowded audiences. Since then, audio films have become a global phenomenon throughout the 1930s. At the beginning, there was an extreme rejection of audio films within Hollywood. Filmmakers believed that the addition of sound destroyed the artistic sense of the movie (represented by Chaplin). The owner of the film company believed that this thing cost too much money and audio films had to equip the original cinema with audio equipment, which also cost a lot of money. However, the audience's love was happy to pay for money, forcing these people to have to use audio films as their main business, which directly led to the final establishment of hegemony of audio films.

By 1930, except for Chaplin, Hollywood insisted on his silent films, all feature films were audio films.

This also had a fundamental impact on the cinema. If you want to survive and make money, you must spend money to redecorate the equipment, otherwise no one will care about it.

Victor felt cold: "Shawn, can't our cinema still play audio movies?"

"Can I let it go! Of course I can let it go! If you don't believe me, I'll let you let it go." Sean stood up and shouted. A teenager ran into the screening room and soon played a movie.

After watching for more than ten minutes, Victor couldn't stand it anymore.

It is indeed possible to play audio movies, but the equipment in this cinema is definitely the most primitive audio equipment around 1930. Not only does the sound deform, but the sound and painting are often inconsistent. In addition, this shitty environment, the genius is here!

"Don't let it go. Don't let it go." Victor pulled Sean: "Why didn't you introduce advanced equipment?"

Sean looked at Anthony: "Anthony is responsible for the things in the Ferro family in Los Angeles..."

Anthony grinned: "This bullshit is enough if you can release it, why spend so much money to change the equipment!"

Victor finally understood.

What a good location and what good conditions, if you do it well, this cinema will definitely be a good deal to make money! Unfortunately, it was defeated by Anthony.

"How much does it cost to redecorate and replace with the most advanced equipment?" Victor asked Sean.

Sean has been here for so many years and knows the situation very well: "The most popular thing now is the screening equipment launched by Leidianhua Film Company. There are two screening rooms here, which can accommodate 500 people. If you change into this kind of equipment, it will cost about 50,000 US dollars. If you consider the decoration, it is simpler. If you don't have 100,000, I'm afraid it won't work."

"Hundred thousand dollars!?" Victor took a deep breath!

Where can I get $100,000!?

"It must be replaced! If you do such a good place, you will definitely make money. Besides, a hundred thousand dollars is not much." Leo said like an idiot.

Sean looked at Leo and shook his head: "Hundreds of thousands of dollars are not enough."

"Not enough!? Didn't you just say you needed 100,000 US dollars?" Leo felt that the old man was confused.

Sean smiled at Victor: "Change equipment and redecorate it, it's almost a hundred thousand dollars, but we still have debts."

"Out of debt?" Victor's forehead was tight, why would he still have debts?

Sean: "I have been losing money all these years. This cinema needs to be maintained, such as water, electricity, and cleaning. In order to maintain the expenses, the cinema is only the two of us now..."

Sean couldn't continue talking.

An old man, for the sake of the Ferro family's property, felt sad. Victor looked at it.

"Shawn, how much money do we owe outside?" Victor took a deep breath and was mentally prepared.

"Absolutely..." Sean thought for a while: "It's almost 100,000."

"How many!" Victor only felt like he was poking at him with hundreds of thousands of flying knives!

Then Sean added: "This is not counting the screening fee. You know Mr. Ferro, we can't stop playing movies, and the film company also charges us for film sources..."

Victor was in chaos: "Shawn, please make it clear, how much do you owe in total now?"

Sean turned his fingers and said, "The cinema has been owed 100,000 yuan over the years. In the past five years, all the movies of 20th Century Fox are screened. They are borrowing money from them, almost 70,000 to 80,000 yuan."

"You mean, I owe William Fox the 180,000 yuan of that dog-day!" Victor was covered in black.

Sean: "How, do you know Mr. Fox?"

"It's more than just knowing me!" Victor gritted his teeth.

Sean couldn't hear this tone and smiled and said, "That's easy to deal with! It's easy to get to know him. Tell Mr. Fox and let him be given a few days of grace..."

Bang! Before Sean finished speaking, the door was kicked open.
