Chapter 9 Moonlight Ink
Donald looked at the quaint and old scroll in his hand. The paper looks a bit old, but it has nothing to do with whether it is a wizard scroll.
When he was in Puston, Donald had seen a special counterfeiter of strange objects, which could even counterfeit strange objects, not to mention this type of scroll. For such a scroll with spells recorded on it, the easiest way is to test it.
"Burning Hand...this name sounds really great. Where did you buy it?"
After looking at the content on the scroll, it was a mess. The so-called spell scroll was just a magic circle, and then some messy words were written on it, without a description of the casting action, no description of mental power requirements, and no description of the application and control of spells.
Donald had a few spell scrolls in his hand. This kind of thing was just like what the Jazz said at the time. He could only deceive these suckers who knew nothing. If he dared to take it out in front of a real wizard, he would probably be educated.
The person in front of him is a veritable sucker. Donald couldn't just say that the spell scroll was fake at first glance, so he could only follow his words.
"The antique market was just purchased last night. The seller said it was something passed down by his ancestors. He couldn't understand the above content. Recently, his family was in trouble, so he had to sell it."
"oh......"
This trick is too old, aren’t you a professor? You can’t even see such things?
In fact, this kind of market routine is really useful to deal with this type of person.
"Do you think it's authentic?"
"Instead of asking me, a person who knows nothing about this, why don't the professor do some testing on it? There are so many instruments in the laboratory that can always be used to detect the authenticity of this type of scroll, such as when was the paper material or the handwriting on the scroll written on it?"
All Donald could give was advice, and Cook took the scroll seriously and went downstairs.
When Donald went downstairs, he saw Cook stuffing a portable hexagonal bottle into the back of a strange machine, which looked like a mechanical drill, but the top was not an iron drill, but a small circular ball extending from a silver iron rod.
The scroll was laid flat on the test bench by him, and then the circular ball was aimed at the part with the handwriting, and pressed the button on the base of the machine. Donald found that there were several small indicator lights next to the position where the hexagonal bottle can was stuffed into the north and the whole machine began to buzz very lightly.
"Fake.."
Not long after, he heard Professor Cook's disappointed words. Donald walked to the side and bent down to look at the surface of the scroll. Some of the handwriting on it was blurred.
"If it were a really old scroll, the ink marks on it would never melt so quickly after being stored for a long time. There is only one possibility. These words were added by someone recently, and that person lied to me!"
Cook put away the scroll and wanted to throw it directly into the trash can next to it.
"Professor, don't you go to refund the money?"
"I don't want to see that guy...and he said the goods were sold and they would not be returned or exchanged."
"Professor, then, on the premise that the goods are genuine, he took a fake to tell you that it was real. He was the one who breached the contract first. How much does it cost to buy this spell?"
The goods are sold and will not be returned or exchanged. There are also such rules in the underground market in Puston, but it depends on who the buyer is. Cook is a professor of Royal DeLorraine. His social status is much higher than the one who sells fake goods. As long as he shows his identity, he may return the money without hesitation.
"10 pounds, otherwise, Donald, you can help me get a return and exchange, how much can I get back? How about you get half of it? If you can teach that bastard a lesson, it doesn't matter if you take all the money away."
Professor Cook is obviously a rich man. 10 pounds are not an unbearable loss for him. He just thought it was lost on the road, but he was still a little angry about the man's deceiving him.
"Can you tell me in detail about where that person is?"
Donald is still very interested in the 10 gold pounds.
Let the troubles aside for the time being. Donald, who came out of the laboratory, went straight to the shared laboratory in the college and showed his teaching assistant's ID. He accidentally learned that the equipment they had here could be borrowed if they had been registered in detail, as long as they were guaranteed not to be lost or damaged when they were returned.
This was undoubtedly a great convenience for Donald. He compared some of the equipment on the spot, took a considerable amount of equipment, and took time to ask the administrator how much it costs to have such a set of equipment on the market. The reply he received was 8 gold pounds without buying any substitutes, which was just the most basic equipment.
For example, the equipment in Professor Cook's laboratory, any piece of equipment is 20 gold pounds when taken out.
Go back to your room, clean up all the things on the desk beside the bed, put the utensils one by one, and then take out a small suitcase from under the bed, which mostly contain small bottles and jars, containing the materials needed to configure moonlight ink.
"Evening Primrose powder, mix with water, ratio 1:3, cook until the water turns light brown, add the ground root grass powder..."
The process of Moonlight Ink Donald has already written down the process in a streamlined way in his notes, and it is carried out step by step. The process is time-consuming and the result is not satisfactory. Donald's operation will always be slow to finish or incorrect in sequence, causing the final product to become a pile of black powder or transparent liquid.
But Donald was not frustrated by this. His first attempt, failure was allowed, and the clock meditation method helped him relax his emotions smoothly.
Take off my coat, wear only one shirt, and unbutton a few buttons on it to keep myself in the most relaxed state.
Boil evening primrose powder, the water is light brown, add the ground grass powder, stir until dark brown, take it out and let it sit... The failures of the previous few times made Donald's grasp of the timing more mature. Seeing the color of the liquid in the beaker changing continuously, it was finally frozen in the light gray viscous liquid, and a thin layer of sweat floated on Donald's forehead.
Put the beaker in front of him and dripped the last green grass juice into it. In an instant, the liquid in the entire beaker emitted a silver-white light, and then a small vortex appeared under Donald's gaze.
Starting from the bottom of the vortex, the liquid gradually appeared a hint of moon-white and continued to spread upwards until all the liquid showed this state, and the vortex eventually dissipated.
Moonlight ink, finished making!
"Huh... I finally succeeded part of it, otherwise I would have lost a lot this time."
At this point, Donald was afraid of the abandoned failed product in the iron pot next to him. He spent 10 gold pounds to buy these moonlight ink materials. If he failed in one go, the money would be wasted simply because the waste had no possibility of reuse.
For the first time, Donald quickly continued to make while his hands were hot. Until the door knock sounded, Donald put the last portion of green grass, and then suddenly woke up from his concentration.
All 12 pieces of materials were consumed, and the final finished product was only 3 bottles. The success rate of the inscriptions will be lower later, and it will be another round of consumption...
"who?"
He asked to the door, who would come to him at this time?
"We are other teaching assistants who live in this apartment. You are Professor Cook's teaching assistant, right? Do you have time to get to know each other?"
Today is Donald's first day of work. Cook specifically introduced Donald in front of his students to facilitate future communication of affairs. Other teaching assistants are probably also heard from the students.
Donald got up from the chair and opened the door and found that there were many people standing at the door, including 3 women and 2 men, all of whom were young.
"Hello...what's wrong?"
After saying hello, Donald found that the eyes of several people were strange and couldn't help but ask.
The girl who knocked on the door before looked at Donald standing by the door in a daze. Their weird eyes were naturally due to Donald's current image.
The loose shirt, half of his chest and collarbone were exposed, and his full body was concentrating made his face look very serious at this time, and his eyes were also flashing with gleam.
In this state, in line with his handsome face and the mysterious temperament he developed as a wizard, the three girls in front of the door had already appeared in their hearts, and their breathing accelerated and their faces became hot.
"Sorry, I was exercising in the room before, so I took off my coat and was rude... Is there anything you guys?"
Donald noticed his situation and lowered his head and pressed the buttons on his chest. The eyes of several girls were full of regrets.
"Do you want to have a meal together?"
The girl in the lead is not tall, but her heart is quite big, and her thoughts blurted out.
"Um?"
When the door was opened, Donald looked at the clock on the wall. It was 1 pm now. Although I haven’t eaten lunch yet, the meal time should have passed.
"No, no...I just want to ask you if you want to have dinner together later. You are new here and you must have a lot of knowledge about the situation here. I have been here for two years and can provide you with a lot of advice."
"It's us, we can help you get familiar with life in Tallinn faster. In fact, we are now going out shopping. Do you want to be together?"
The girl next to her immediately added when she heard that the topic was about to be taken to their separate dinner.
The two young men behind them were a little confused. What's going on? Didn't they say hello and leave before?
"I'm very sorry, I'll have to help Professor Cook sort out the equipment in the laboratory later. It's my first day of work and I can't be lazy, so... I wish you a happy time."
