Section 85: Beasts
Chapter 85: Beast
The hunting camp is not very large, half because there are not many people participating in this hunt, and the other half because the hunting time is only one day. In other words, the hunting team will return to the royal city tomorrow. This itself is destined that this hunting will not hunt too much prey.
Everyone was busy with their own affairs. Almost no one paid much attention to the departure of the little girl and Ashu Rufate. Even the guards on duty at key points just gave a greeting when they saw Ashu Rufate passing by with the little girl.
"How about we take two dogs out?" the little girl asked.
"Ah, if you take a dog, you must go through the Hound Supervisor. He doesn't know if it will be reported to Scadra." Ashu Rufate said. Of course, this is just an ostensible reason. All these royal hounds have been rigorously trained. God knows where they will take him and the little girl. He just wants to walk a little near the camp instead of running far away.
A short while later, the two had left the camp. It was the turn of summer and autumn, and the sun was still hot, but the little girl was in high spirits. At this moment, both of them were wearing hunting equipment. Ash Rufate took off her armor and replaced it with a leather suit that was as standard as "leather armor". The little girl was dressed simply and was wearing thick cloth clothes suitable for use in the wild. Ash Rufate had a sword on her waist, a spear in her hand, and an ordinary hunting bow and arrow for the little queen hanging on her back. The little girl only carried a symbolic long dagger on her body. Her real hunting weapon, which is a specially made crossbow, is temporarily carried by Shurufate so that she could move forward lightly.
The grass in the nearby area grew very tall, and it had reached the waist of the little girl on average. Some wild plants with high poles could even grow taller than Ashrufate. There was the sun above the head, weeds under the feet, and various obstacles. It was very exhausting when walking deep and shallow. After a while, the little girl began to become panting.
"How could it be so difficult to leave?" she complained softly.
"Ah, this..." Of course, Eshu Rufate couldn't say that hunting usually does not enter such deep grass areas (on the one hand, there is a risk of sprain, and on the other hand, there is a poor vision). He would come here entirely to let the little girl exhaust her excess energy as soon as possible and return to the camp.
"Ah!" The little girl screamed, because her feet were stepping on a pile of wild beast feces. For real hunters, this is of course indifferent, but for the little girl who is pampered, it is a big trouble.
"It's too difficult to leave outside, I think I'd better go back." Taking advantage of the embarrassment of the little girl, Ashu Rufate made a correct suggestion.
"No!" The setback unexpectedly strengthened the little girl's determination. She wiped off the feces from her shoes on a stone (of course there were still many residues) and stubbornly rejected Ash Rufate's opinion. "I must catch something! Wait... over there... it seems to have something."
Ashu Rufat smelled it. Perhaps because of the change in the direction of the wind, he only smelled it now.
"That's the smell of blood!" he said
"The smell of blood?" The little girl raised her curiosity, "What is it?"
"It should be the result of some kind of hunting beasts..." Ashu Rufat guessed. "However," he looked back. It was actually not very far from the camp because the flying flags could be clearly seen. "It should have been scared away." Those who would ambush and hunt in such a deep grass area were usually leopards, tigers and other beasts. These beasts were very alert and even timid. Ninety-nine percent of the movements in the camp had driven them away, and what was left here should be corpses.
"Give me the crossbow." The little girl held the Queen's special version of the crossbow in her hand. As mentioned earlier, this crossbow is specially made and is very suitable for her to use. And as everyone knows, the crossbow is a very easy-to-use weapon. Anyone can tell what it is like by taking a quick look, and there is no risk of accidentally injuring the user in the blasting chamber.
She walked slowly forward and separated a clump of tall thatch. In front of her was a small open space, with a large tree growing under the tree, and a corpse of a wild goat was lying under the tree. To be more specific, it was half of the wild goat's corpse, because it had been torn to pieces by predators.
Ashrufate carefully observed the tree because beasts like leopards often hide in the book. However, the branches of this tree are quite sparse, and you can clearly see that there is nothing but branches, leaves and two bird nests.
The little girl also observed everything, and she put down the crossbow in disappointment.
"Well, I guess I was full or scared by the sound of our erecting camp." Ashu Rufate left the grass and entered this small open space. The land was covered with sand and gravel, so even the weeds couldn't grow much.
The little girl walked towards the goat's body. "Ashrufat, what do you think this goat was hunted by?"
"It's not a wolf, because the wolf pack will not leave so much meat behind when eating..." Ashu Rufate answered and calmed down and listened carefully to the movements around him. This was not the result of rational consideration, but just an instinctive action.
"Well, I think this should be..." The little girl came to the goat's corpse. Even she could see that the goat had been dead for a while. The meat had lost that vibrant bright red...
"Go away!" Ash Rufat shouted. The little girl looked up in horror and saw a giant brown bear rushing out from behind the rock.
The bear is very large in size and is also as tall as an ordinary adult when it is on all sides. It roars and pounces on the little girl. The unique fishy smell of beasts rushes into the face.
It is completely different from the mental preparation of human beings and not being mentally prepared. At least, the little girl is completely unable to move at this moment. That is the so-called "huge sense of fear", which instantly deprived her of her reason and reaction, making her unable to do anything except tremble in her body. She could not dodge, retreat, and could not raise the crossbow in her hand to give the giant bear (of course, for such a giant beast, this crossbow is almost meaningless). In fact, when the bear rushed to her, she had only time to scream.
"Ashu Rufate!"
The next moment, a figure appeared on her side. Ashu Rufate pulled her away from the giant bear's charge in time and avoided the powerful collision. The giant beast pounced on the air, turned to face Ashu Rufate, and stood up with its hind limbs, making a huge roar. The beast weighed more than a thousand pounds, which was definitely not comparable to an ordinary person. However, before its deterrent roar ended, Ashu Rufate had already rushed forward with a spear. Before it could bend down, it stabbed the spear deeply into its body, aiming at the position of its heart.
The giant beast slapped with a fierce palm. Ashu Rufate could not dodge the spear in his hand, so he could only stretch out his arm to block the attack. The huge force directly slapped him out, but in the air he turned his body and his feet fell steadily.
The giant bear roared because of pain and anger, but the spear had penetrated its body, and the spear tip came out from its back. Its uncontrollable four-legged foot landed on the ground, and then its forelimbs instantly lost its strength, knelt forward, and then fell to the ground.
Ash Rufate stood up straight, and the Withering Sword appeared in his hands instantly. However, this time there was no need, because the giant bear was already twitching all over, and while making an unwilling roar, he slowly struggled dyingly. The blow that penetrated his heart directly killed it.
Ashu Rufat breathed out, and the magic sword in his hand disappeared invisible. He walked towards the little girl, who was always standing there motionless because of his frightenedness.
"I didn't expect there was a bear here." Ash Rufate said. "Is it okay?"
"No... it's okay." The little girl finally came to her senses. The giant bear's body was slowly stopping moving, and the sound in her throat became smaller and smaller. She turned her gaze toward Ashu Rufate, and then found that the clothes on his shoulder (as mentioned earlier, this clothes can be regarded as a piece of leather armor) had been torn a huge hole. This was what he was rubbed by the bear claws when he was knocked away by the giant bear just now.
His fair skin was exposed under his clothes - the bear claws left three blood marks on it, and a small amount of blood was flowing out of the wound.
"You're injured." She said, looking at the wound.
"Ah, it's nothing, it's just a minor injury." Ashu Rufate looked at his body and replied. His clothes were finished, and the wooden handle of the spear was broken, but it was worth it. "We'll just go back and deal with it."
In fact, he knew his physical condition - in just one or two hours, the injury of this level would basically heal. Of course, there is no need to tell the little girl about this.
"No, the claws of wild beasts are poisonous!" The little girl seemed to have seen such an introduction. She was busy untied the kettle from her body, used the water inside to clean Eshu Rufat to slightly clean the wound, and then took out her handkerchief to make a basic bandage for Eshu Rufat.
Ashu Rufat sat down and let the little girl treat the wound. Regardless of whether it was treated or not, he believed that the injury would disappear from him in a few hours.
"I'm sorry..." the little girl said softly.
Ashu Rufate almost thought there was an auditory hallucination in his ears. The little girl said sorry to him? Having said that, after being together for so long, it seems that she hasn't heard this word from the little girl's mouth - even if there are, the number of times is rare enough to be ignored.
"Why do you want to apologize?" Ashu Rufat asked.
"Because of my willfulness, you were hurt." The little girl said softly.
"Ah, this is my duty as a guard." Ashu Rufat looked at the dead giant bear. "To be honest, I really didn't expect a bear to appear here. Bears usually don't move in such places..." He touched his shoulders, and the injury almost didn't feel anything. "No matter what, let's go back quickly... But we can't come in vain. How about we peel it off and take it away?"
"I'd better not. Go back and ask someone else to do this." The little girl said. "The wound must be treated further."
