Chapter 94 Conversation
Ashu Rufate arrived two days later than Aunt Mary had expected.
However, because he had been to Wallonia once before, he already knew the overall situation of the city. He actually came to the entrance of Aunt Mary's building without much effort. The two doorkeepers knew about this early in the morning, so after seeing this "young man with a scar on his face", he welcomed him into the door and brought him to Aunt Mary.
"Ashu Rufate, you're late." When Ashu Rufate entered the room, the old woman was smearing on a canvas hanging on an easel. However, when she saw Ashu Rufate, she quickly put away the painting tools. Ashu Rufate noticed that she was painting a portrait based on her impression - standing alone in the room with a gorgeously decorated room as the background. However, the painting has not been completed, so she couldn't tell who this person was.
To be honest, I can't tell that Aunt Mary has the ability to paint.
"Sorry, Aunt Mary." Ash Rufate replied. "Because I was outside when your letter was delivered. It was already a day late when I got it. I was delayed for some reason."
Ashu Rufate had a certain awe for this old woman. Because he could feel it, the old woman called Countess Marianne seemed very unusual. Not to mention other people's opinions, her keen eyes and ability to move alone were surprising enough.
"You guys go out." Aunt Mary made a gesture to the servant who brought Ash Rufat in, who left, and took the door with her before leaving.
"Did you kill Io?" Aunt Mary didn't waste time and directly cut into the subject. She looked at Ashu Rufate with a blank expression. Even Ashu Rufate couldn't tell whether she was happy or sad.
"Yes." Ashu Rufate hesitated for a moment and finally decided to tell the truth. He could feel that Aunt Mary had already known the truth-or at least guessed the truth. For this old woman, ordinary lies were probably useless.
"How did you kill him?"
"He wants to kill me," Ash Rufate replied. "Take ten people, everyone with muskets, and surrounded me on the edge of a cliff."
Ashu Rufate knew that Eo was also a member of the Griffin family. For Aunt Mary, he was also a nephew. I don’t know how she thought of this nephew. Of course, Ashu Rufate had no regrets about what she had done in the past.
"And you killed them all and pushed them down?"
"There was a big crack there and it was handled. A pile was also built at the critical location. With a little force, the entire cliff collapsed. It was easy, and it seemed that they had spent a lot of effort to deal with my body."
"Very good, men should do this." Aunt Mary finally smiled. "For those masterminds who have taken action to harm you, any mercy is the kindness of a woman, and she will never do anything big."
"Do you know why Io came to cause trouble?" Aunt Mary asked. "He must have another purpose. That kid has always been like this, advocating violence and not having the vision of knowing people. He deserves to die. To be honest, I still can't figure out why he came to make trouble for nothing... and even risked to kill people."
Ashu Rufate carefully explained what he knew to Aunt Mary. Now he had seen that Aunt Mary actually had no good feelings for Io. Although they were both Griffin family, for her, the two sisters and Io were completely different. When Io died, Aunt Mary had no intention of being sad at all, and she even had some gloating. She seemed to agree with Ashu Rufate's killing Io.
"So that's it... Duke Byron... that boy..." After hearing Ashu Rufate's words, Aunt Mary nodded gently. "It seems like that boy can do something. What he is best at is to damage public and gain personal gain and use other people's money to buy personal reputation. I was really blind to let him come to the regent."
Ashu Rufate had already known from many people that Aunt Mary seemed to have great powers, but it was the first time she had confirmed it from her. Not to mention anything else, just calling a regent minister by "that boy" is no longer an ordinary self-esteem.
"Why don't you tell those two little girls after you did this?" Aunt Mary asked again.
"I think they shouldn't know about this." Ash Rufate replied. "I'll do it alone if I'm going to do it."
"So...you did the investment of the Oluoke Chamber of Commerce later?"
It must be said that Aunt Mary is really a person who learns from others and has guessed the whole process in a short time. Although she does not know the details, her overall judgment is completely correct.
"Yes, that chamber of trade will have a futures contract..." Ashu Rufate briefly said what happened later. Finally, he talked about the result of this fur futures battle.
"Very good!" After hearing the whole thing, Aunt Mary looked very satisfied, and could even be said to be quite happy. "In this way, even that boy Byron would not dare to continue playing tricks. By the way," she suddenly laughed, "Ashu Rufate, come here. Just this side, yes, stand by the chair, holding the backrest of the chair with your hands."
Asu Ruffat did as he said, although he was a little confused. But he immediately understood what he was going to do, because after he stood at the position requested by Aunt Mary, the old woman picked up the paint box again and started the painting that she had interrupted before.
Time passed by minute by minute. Throughout the afternoon, Ashu Rufate was acting as a model. If he was an ordinary person, he would feel soreness in his waist and back pain after standing in such a long time. However, Ashu Rufate found that he was not tired at all - only boredom. Of course, out of respect, he still stood until Aunt Mary was satisfied.
"Okay! Ashu Rufate, you can take a break. Thank you for being with me, the old woman for so long." Aunt Mary seemed to be satisfied. Ashu Rufate left his seat and came to the edge of the easel to take a look. He originally thought that Aunt Mary was using herself as the object of painting, but in fact it was not. The person painted in the canvas was not Ashu Rufate, at most they were somewhat similar in shape. Regardless of clothing, posture, movement, the person in the painting was only slightly similar to Ashu Rufate, which was far from matching. Especially the head of the person in the painting was still empty, and Aunt Mary did not draw his face. However, Aunt Mary seemed to plan to end today because she had begun to organize her painting props. It was not as thick as before, but was carefully cleaned and placed in different categories.
Without a head, I can't tell who the person Aunt Mary wants to draw is.
"Auntie, I have something to ask..." Ashu Rufat looked at Mary tidying up her painting tools and couldn't help but speak.
"Oh." Aunt Mary stopped tidying up her painting tools and looked up at the other party. For some reason, when she saw the old woman's face, Ashu Rufate had a premonition that it might not be easy to know the truth from the old woman's mouth.
"Do you remember the deposit certificates you gave me?" Asu Ruffat asked. "You said that those are my personal belongings..."
"Remember those tools for fraud?" Aunt Mary replied without changing her face. "It's very good as a prop."
"Those... are true." Ashu Rufat pondered for a moment and decided not to hesitate to conceal it. "It should be true. With one of the certificates of deposit, I got the authorization certificate to dispatch one million funds from the Pierce Chamber of Commerce. And the people from the Pierce Chamber of Commerce also said that if I want, I can exchange the certificate of deposit into cash at any time."
"No...incredible." Aunt Mary's surprised expression really didn't look like she was pretending. But for some reason, Ashu Rufate knew that Aunt Mary was pretending.
"Aunt, you've known that those certificates of deposit are real, right?" Ashu Rufate made the words clear.
"Hey..." Aunt Mary sighed. "I think you should understand that to me, those two little girls are like my biological daughter!"
"I know, but..."
"If a stranger comes to you without any capital, and you have nothing but a verbal engagement, do you think I will agree to this marriage casually, or even marry them to you together?!" Aunt Mary made an action, "Did you see this building? This is the wedding gift I gave you! If you can't even prove that you are happy to them, will I agree to this kind of thing? You used those four documents to prove that you were qualified to marry them."
Some people say that half truth and half false is the highest level of lying, but philosophers understand that nine truths and one false are the ultimate level of lying.
"As for why you lied, it was because you lost your memory. I don't know what kind of person you are, so I'll make this matter too early, and it may make you... not so popular. But as for the origin of the certificate of deposit, I don't know much. I only know that this is a great nobleman who exists in the chamber of commerce... Alas, she suddenly seemed to remember something. "By the way, Ashu Rufate, the box over there is a gift I gave you. Open it yourself and take a look."
The box is in the corner of the side. Ashu Rufate opened it easily. It was a layered box with a few red ropes and a few shackles on the top.
Asu Rufate tried it. The rope was thick, soft and elastic, and had a very tough feel. It looked like a leather product. The shackles were all made of some kind of light and solid metal, and were made very smooth, without any edges and corners, and had a strange smooth feeling when they came into contact with the skin.
"What are these?" Ashu Rufate asked strangely.
"It's just some toys." Aunt Mary replied ambiguously. "You can tie up people without hurting them."
