Chapter 20 Arguments

The students calmed down again and raised their hands disciplinedly. Mr. Chang Geng’s first point was a male classmate who was a little closer to him. The question asked by the man was: “Sir, some people say that it is useless to scholars. What is the use of us to study history, philosophy, law, and literature?”

Mr. Chang Geng replied: "There are wars everywhere now. In everyone's opinion, there is no such thing as learning history, philosophy, law, and literature. But everyone must remember to learn history to know shame, so that we can know why our country lags behind other countries. Only by understanding its past can a nation move towards the future with its feet on the ground! Those who achieve great things must first be proficient in history. Learning history can make people smarter and wiser! Learning philosophy can make people's minds clearer and more cognitive..."

Yi Huan agreed with Mr. Chang Geng’s answer to some questions. But in another question, Yi Huan was very dissatisfied with his answer. He actually felt that the abolition of Chinese characters was correct. Yi Huan couldn’t help but curse: “I admire foreign countries and fawn on foreigners, forget my ancestors in numbers, and don’t know what it means, foreign slaves.”

Her voice was not loud, but not small. At least it was heard by Liu Kuntao, who was standing not far away, and he said unhappily: "What do you know? The reason why China is backward is that it is corruption because of the old traditional culture; and the reason why the old traditional culture is so stubborn is because of Chinese characters. Therefore, if you want to save China, you must eliminate the old culture; and to eliminate the old culture, you must first abolish the Chinese characters." The students next to them all showed a look of agreement.

"The reason why China is backward is not because of Chinese characters, but because it missed the golden time of development. When other countries opened up and vigorously developed industries, they closed their home countries, did not intend to make progress, remained self-confidence, and thought they were a great country in the Celestial Empire." Yi Huan said to the point.

Everyone was thinking.

"If you only know the basics of foreign languages, you will be arrogant and want to abolish the language and writing of your own country. If it is really as he wishes, then China will really be destroyed." Yi Huan was heartbroken, "I always believe that the Chinese nation is the greatest nation, Chinese characters are the most beautiful words, and Chinese is the most elegant language. I am proud of being a Chinese. Although the motherland is weak now, I believe that with our efforts, the motherland will become stronger."

"Papapapapapapapapa" Wei Jie applauded: "My sister Yi is right. We should face up to the tragic fact that China is lagging behind the world, but we cannot underestimate ourselves. We should be confident and self-reliant, work hard to make our efforts, and let China return to the top of the world."

Yi Huan didn't know if Wei Jie's words were his true thoughts or to meet her preferences. However, because of his agreement, he had a better impression of him and agreed to go to the restaurant for lunch with him after the meeting.

Liu Kuntao was still unwilling to defend Mr. Chang Geng, "Even if Mr. Abolishing Chinese characters, he has been fighting in order to free the motherland from humiliation and liberate the people. He has the noble integrity of 'wealth and wealth cannot be lustful, poverty and humbleness cannot be moved, and mighty and force cannot be betrayed'. How can he not call Mr. a foreign slave, right?"

"Maybe it is a bit too much to say that he is a foreign slave, but is it right that he over-praising foreigners and completely denies his motherland and nation?" Yi Huan asked.

Liu Kuntao said choking.

"Only the things of the nation have vitality and can stand tall in the world. Losing Chinese characters is equivalent to losing the history of China, losing the inheritance of civilization, and losing the bond of national aggregation. What Mr. Chang Geng said is right, and wrong is wrong. We cannot accept what he said completely just because he is a famous scholar and have no one's own judgment." Yi Huan said righteously.

Everyone pondered silently.

After Mr. Chang Geng and others left, Yi Huan and his group walked towards the school gate with other students from other schools. They met Wu Liming on the way. When they saw Yi Huan, Wu Liming was happy. In the past month, the family's livelihood was troubled. For some time, they had not found Xiang Jianyun to find out about Yi Huan. They didn't expect to meet him here. They thought to themselves, could she be here to find him?

"Miss Yi." Wu Liming greeted happily.

Yi Huan turned his eyes and saw him, and was a little surprised, but he still smiled politely: "Mr. Wu."

"How did Miss Yi come here?" Wu Liming asked.

"I'm here to listen to Mr. Chang Geng's speech, is Mr. Wu also here to listen to the speech?" Yi Huan asked casually.

"No, I'm teaching at Jizhou University." Wu Liming vainly did not say that he was just an assistant teacher. "It's almost noon. I wonder if I have the honor to invite Miss Yi to lunch?"

Yi Huan was about to decline, but Wei Jie took the lead and said, "Sir, you have to be welcome. Sister Yi came with me. I will take Sister Yi to lunch." People are very sensitive to people with the same destination as them. Wei Jie was very repulsive to Wu Liming.

Wu Liming's eyes then fell from Yi Huan onto Wei Jie, "What is this gentleman?"

"My surname is Wei, Jie, the courtesy name is Shuyuan, and I am a friend of Sister Yi." Wei Jie raised his head and glanced at Wu Liming sideways.

"Hello Mr. Wei." Wu Liming nodded. The month he was unemployed made Wu Liming feel the difficulties of life and his people became much smoother. Even though he was jealous of Wei Jie and Yi Huan's approach, he did not show any of them.

It was not enough to hit people with a smile on their faces, and Wei Jie was not going too far. Besides, he didn't know what the relationship between Wu Liming and Yi Huan was, and he was afraid of causing Yi Huan's unhappiness. Although he was unwilling to do so, he still falsely invited him: "Hello Mr. Wu, if Mr. Wu is fine, let's go have lunch together."

"Then I'm not polite." Wu Liming said with a smile.

Wei Jie's expression was twisted for a moment. How could this person climb along the pole? Yi Huan watched coldly. Seeing this, he couldn't help but raise his lips and smiled slightly. Wei Jie saw the misunderstanding and thought Yi Huan was interested in Wu Liming, and felt even more aggrieved, and regretted inviting Wu Liming.

The combination of one woman and two men made Yi Huan, who had always paid great attention to the boundary between men and women, feel something was wrong. So she invited the three girls she had just met to go with her. The three girls were quite eye-catching and knew Yi Huan's intention, but did not refuse. So Liu Kuntao and four other boys, and a group of eleven took the tram to a hotel on Dongmen Street.

When we arrived at the restaurant, we ordered two nearby tables. Four girls sat together, and the others sat on another table. The guy quickly brought the orders. While eating, he suddenly heard the sound of smashing the table. Then someone shouted: "Mom, I'm fighting hard on the battlefield, bleeding and sweating. Come here for a meal. Do you dare to collect my money? Believe it or not, I shot you?"

Yi Huan and others came out to see the development of the situation. When they saw the shopkeeper nodding and bowing, they smiled and said, "Mr. Jun, you are ignorant, don't be angry. It is the honor of the shop to come to the small shop. Jun. Welcome to come again next time." God, this is a word against his will. Please bless him to never come again.
