Foreword:

In February of the fourth year of Tongguang (926), the old soldiers of Weibo Town mutinized in Beizhou and captured Weizhou, Xingzhou and Cangzhou, and mutinies occurred one after another, and Hebei was in chaos. Li Cunxu, the official, sent Yuan Xingqin to lead his troops to fight, but he lost one after another. Li Cunxu originally wanted to fight in person, but was dissuaded by the prime minister, so he had to use the adopted son of the late emperor Li Siyuan and asked him to lead his guards to go north to suppress the rebellion. Li Siyuan encountered a mutiny in his personal army at the city of Weizhou, and was kidnapped into the city, and joined forces with the rebels. He had no intention of rebelling, but due to the internal and external situation, he had no idea of self-evident, so he had to lead the troops to go south.

In March, Li Cunxu personally led his army to the east, hoping to command Bianzhou to command the rebellion. However, Li Siyuan had already occupied Bianzhou first and was supported by a large number of generals. Li Cunxu knew that the situation was irreversible, so he arrived at Wansheng Town (northwest of Zhongmu, Henan) and ordered his troops to return to the capital Luoyang in a hurry. He repeatedly comforted the soldiers and promised a generous reward, but it was too late. The soldiers were completely disappointed and fled half of them along the way. At that time, the King of Wei and the commander-in-chief Li Jiji had led the army to fight against Shu, but on the way, he delayed his return because of pacifying the rebellion of the Later Army Kang Yanxiao.

In April, Li Cunxu, who had no soldiers, decided to go to Sishui Pass (northwest of Xingyang, Henan Province) to control the pass east of Luoyang, waiting for Li Jiji's army to come from Guanzhong, and then join forces to suppress Li Siyuan. He ordered his followers to wait outside the palace gate and eat in the inner hall. The commander of Congmazhi, Guo Congqian, suddenly launched a rebellion and led his troops to attack Xingjiao Gate. Li Cunxu personally led the guards to fight, kill hundreds of chaotic troops, and was eventually shot by a wandering arrow and died in Jiangxiao Hall. At that time, he was 43 years old, known in history as the "Xingjiao Gate Rebellion". The actors and good friends covered Li Cunxu's body and set fire to burn the body. Li Jiji led his army to Weinan, but because his subordinates were dispersed, he was forced to hang himself to death. The army of Shu was led by the deputy envoy Ren Yuan. In the month, Li Siyuan entered Luoyang and became emperor before Li Cunxu's spirit.

In July, Li Siyuan buried Li Cunxu in Yongling, named Zhuangzong in the temple, and posthumously named him Emperor Minxiao, the sacred god of Guang.
