121 Tentative attack
Before launching the general attack, Otto decided to conduct a tentative attack.
Even though the number of monsters on the Soaring Dragon Legion's side seems to have an overwhelming advantage, the individual strengths of both sides are still great.
What's more important is that the opponent is obviously well prepared. If they launch a full-scale attack rashly, they may suffer big losses.
After understanding Otto's wishes, Gaz drew some common monsters such as gnolls and troglodytes from the monsters in the outer city, preparing to launch the first trial attack.
There are also a large number of ordinary goblins mixed in among them.
Unless these green-skinned dwarves have joined the Wolf Cavalry, or have skills in production, they are generally used as cannon fodder.
The total number of these monsters is less than 10,000, so it is obviously impossible to defeat the Thunder Legion's position.
And Otto didn't expect them to achieve any results in the first place. He just wanted to see what the guys on the opposite side were capable of.
In order to prevent these weak monsters from turning around and fleeing in mid-run, the Mad Wolf Warwick and the Troglodyte Redscale also joined the attack.
These two dragon-born monsters will serve as the vanguard of this exploratory attack, leading the monsters behind them to attack the Thunder Legion's position while preventing the above things from happening.
Following Gaz's order, nearly 10,000 low-level monsters, led by two dragon-born monsters, howled loudly to increase their courage and momentum, and rushed towards the Thunder Legion.
At the first moment, the monsters in the Thunder Legion launched a counterattack against them.
The first to take action were the trebuchets with simple and crude structures.
These so-called trebuchets are actually just using a thick and very elastic tree trunk as an elastic board, and then tying a rope barrier to the end of the trunk.
There is no accuracy at all.
Ordinary humanoids would not have the strength to use such a simple and crude device without sophisticated mechanism design.
But the strong ogres and minotaurs are obviously not in this category. Behind each trebuchet, there are more than a dozen strong monsters.
First, they tied huge stones to rope nets at the ends of these crude machines.
Immediately afterwards, they worked together to forcefully bend the tree trunk on the trebuchet to the bottom, and then let go at the same time.
"Bang! Bang! Bang..."
Accompanied by the loud sound of tree trunks rebounding, huge boulders hit the attacking monsters of the Soaring Dragon Legion with a terrifying momentum.
Along with these boulders, there were some unlucky people who didn't let go in time, most of them were ogres with poor minds.
They screamed and followed the boulders flying into the sky one after another, and then fell on the soft ground not far away.
Fortunately, they were thick-skinned and thick-skinned. After getting up in a daze, they patted their somewhat groggy heads and ran back to their original posts.
Then the infinite loop begins.
Completely opposite to these unlucky ogres, the boulders used as ammunition flew much farther.
One after another, boulders fell on the group of monsters attacked by the Soaring Dragon Legion, or on places where they could not touch them at all. Some unlucky guys were directly smashed into meat.
Facing the tragic situation of their companions around them, the spirits of the goblins, who were already very timid, were about to collapse.
They screamed and tried to escape, but some of the guys who put this idea into action were torn into pieces by the jackals who received the order.
As a result, goblins with similar intentions did not dare to act rashly.
Even the troglodytes and other monsters from other races were frightened by this sudden situation.
Mad Wolf Warwick's eyes were covered with scarlet bloodshot eyes, which made his eyes seem to be scarlet themselves.
And it was he who gave the order to tear those cowardly goblins into pieces.
This mentally abnormal dragon-born jackal roared loudly: "No matter who it is, if they dare to disobey the wishes of the Silver Dragon Lord, they will be destroyed! No matter who they are!!"
Thick venom flowed from the corners of his mouth, corroding the ground beneath him and creating some craters.
"For the great Lord of the Silver Dragon!"
With a crazy smile on his face, Warwick lay on the ground, running on all fours like a real jackal and mad dog, and rushed towards the Thunder Legion array with force and speed.
The troglodyte Red Scale followed closely behind him. Although he did not make a sound, he also made his attitude clear.
Led by two powerful dragon-born monsters, the monster army that was in some confusion due to the trebuchet attack quickly returned to normal.
They followed closely behind the two dragon monsters and quickly approached the Thunder Legion's position.
The trebuchets are still pouring out firepower, but this is because this place is in an ancient jungle.
The surrounding area is covered with huge trees that reach into the sky, and the trebuchet has no accuracy at all.
A considerable number of the stone bullets were intercepted by trees in the middle of the flight before they hit the ground.
Therefore, even though these war machines look powerful, the damage they cause is actually far less serious than imagined.
As the enemy continued to approach, the arrow towers standing in the Thunder Legion's position also began to attack.
Most of the people on these arrow towers are orcs or snakemen, peripheral monsters of the Thunder Legion. The thick palms of ogres and tauren cannot handle such delicate tasks as bow and arrow.
Not to mention centaurs, they simply can't get up to a building of this shape.
Because of the long distance, most of the archers on the arrow tower chose to shoot.
Under the double baptism of catapults and arrow towers, by the time these monsters arrived at the Thunder Legion's position, they had lost nearly half of their number.
And the real trouble is just beginning now.
In front of the Thunder Legion's position, those seemingly simple trenches and earthen walls will not be as easy to climb as usual at this moment.
A large number of tall and strong monsters holding weapons stood on the simple wall with a grin.
Originally, the gnolls and troglodytes were no match for them, and given the disadvantage of this terrain, it was even more impossible to break through their defenses.
But there are always exceptions to everything.
Outside the trench, Warwick laughed wildly, and the muscles in his upper body atrophied rapidly, and then proliferated in his lower limbs.
The ferocious meridians protruded from the swollen muscles, and then he squatted down with both legs and exerted force suddenly.
"boom!"
There was a loud noise, and the ground under Warwick's feet exploded with layers of cracks under the huge impact.
As for Warwick himself, he had already jumped into the sky, and his multiplied limbs had quickly returned to normal.
