The third part of the first battle of the founding of the country

After a 7-day long journey, at 4 a.m. on October 16, the First Fleet quietly approached Yokosuka, the first military port in the East.

In order to ensure the concealment of the attack, the First Fleet did not go straight to Yokosuka. Instead, headed south to Taiwan, after adding coal there, then approached Yokosuka through the outer sea route. Although it took two more days and the distance was 300 nautical miles, the Canadian media's endurance was about 600 nautical miles after the middle of the attack. Moreover, the wind and waves on the outer sea route of Taiwan were high, and few people walked, which was very helpful for the concealment of the attack. As for the high wind and high waves, it was almost unaffected for the giant ship with an average displacement of 6,000 tons.

Looking at Yokosuka in front of him, Scher was deeply moved by Yokosuka's charm.

Located on the east coast of Tokyo Bay, Honshu Island, Japan, Yokosuka Port is connected to Yokohama City in the north and to the east coast of Yokosuka City in the south. The port has unique conditions in terms of mooring facilities, ship repair capabilities, coal and ammunition storage equipment, and military rest facilities. It has various conditions required for a naval base and is known as the first military port in East Asia.

Unlike the narrow Port of Lushun, Yokosuka Port is an open port water at first glance. The waterline area is more than 30 square kilometers and ten times that of Port of Lushun. The sea water is clear and the water depth is just right. The deepest part is only 30 meters, and the shallowest part is 7 meters, which is enough for a huge ship to sail. The entire port area is like a human palm, and the "thumb" touches Yokohama City, which is the fourth area; on the root of the "indicator finger" divided by Gosashima, there are two basically completed cruisers quietly parked in the dock, which should be the "Suma" and "Akashi".

Following the slow ocean current, the First Fleet quietly approached the First Zone.

The first area of Yokosuka Port covers an area of about 2.3 million square meters. It is a naval base in Japan. It also includes the capital of Yokosuka, naval factories, marine regiments, schools and other buildings of the Navy. The predecessor of the base was the first shipyard "Yokosuka Iron Manufacturing Station" founded by the Edo Shogunate in Japan in 1865. Later, it was assigned to the Navy headquarters by the Meiji government at that time. In 1893, it was renamed the "Yokosuka Naval Shipyard" and had the prototype of a naval base.

With the strong funding of the Japanese government, we have the ability to build cruisers and heavy cruisers at that time. A large part of the importance of the Yokosuka base depends on the six dry docks of the Naval Repair Factory in the Second District. They were all built during the Great Leap Forward of the Japanese Navy. The completion dates were: 1869, 1884, 1884, 1888, 1889 and 1892: the docking tonnages were: 4,000 tons, 6,000 tons, 1,000 tons, 5,000 tons and 8,000 tons, and are still intact and available.

There are also four movable docks, including two of which are rare 4,000-ton iron floating docks in the world. The other two are 2,000-ton steel docks.

The first fleet quietly lined up. At this time, someone at Yokosuka Base had already noticed this terrible fleet. A shrill alarm sounded and panicked people were everywhere.

Looking at the ants-like people in the port, Sher ordered that "each ship fires at will" to solve the torpedo boats, gunboats, and forts that threaten them first wait until the threat is lifted and the other party accepts surrender. If the other party does not surrender, you can shoot the other party's military personnel as appropriate, and it is strictly forbidden to shoot civilians!!!

The first one to fire was the Dingyuan ship. The huge 305mm double main gun unveiled the cannon, revealing a muzzle larger than a washbasin (how can I think of it? Who can dry clothes on the cannon? It is at least 3.5 meters tall to reach the muzzle.) A flash of flames, the cannon made a thunderous roar. After a few seconds, it hit a turret directly. The turret was blown to the sky. The power of the 305mm shell is by no means comparable to those noisy little cannons.

Then, Zhenyuan, attacked Yuan, and Zhiyuan fired one after another, and Yokosuka immediately fell into a sea of fire.

Fires soared into the sky and thick smoke rose. The torpedo boat formation anchored in the port was first taken care of. A large number of 120mm caliber shells poured into the hull, tearing off the weak armor and exploded in the hull. The weak torpedo boat could resist such a rough treatment and immediately sank into the seabed.

The gunboat formation is just a little late, so there is actually not much difference. The final destination is to become a piece of scrap iron at the bottom of the sea to make a nest for the swimming fish.

The commander of the Japanese minecraft fleet, Major General Yoshihiro, saw the fire in the port first. At first, he thought it was an accident where the fort accidentally hit the bomb and dropped a button. After listening carefully, he found that the sound of artillery was everywhere in the port. So he realized that the Japanese army was attacked and immediately ordered warships in the port to leave to avoid it.

Almost at the same time, the command Tara sounded the enemy attack alarm and announced in spoken radio: Yokosuka Port was attacked! This is not an exercise!

But in just a few minutes, the torpedo boat gunboat formation was completely wiped out, and only large oil stains on the water surface could prove their existence.

When Krypton was sent, the Japanese army's sporadic counterattack also began, and some cannons on the forts opened fire. Only three of the 13 turret companies on the island opened fire, and most of the cannon shells were still in the ammunition depot, so there was no time to put them into combat. The Japanese army in Yokosuka Hong Kong had almost no organized resistance.

The rumbling pen was five points, and the shooting number aimed at the artillery shells on a certain mountain, which did not hit the concentrated artillery, landed far behind the mountain, and detonated the ammunition depot. It immediately caused a series of domino-like explosions. This ammunition depot contains various weapons and ammunition from the Japanese army, including medium caliber howitzers, rapid-fire artillery bazooka and blasting fire yao.

The shells immediately caused the ammunition in the ammunition depot to explode violently. The bombs that were ignited ran around and were loudly loud, and they seemed to be fired in a salvo like hundreds of cannons. The nearby house was immediately blown into ruins.

The explosion exploded a huge bomb crater with a radius of 200 meters and a depth of 3 meters. All the houses on the ground were buried in the ruins. Yokosuka Naval School was blown away because it was closest. Because the explosion was in the morning, many Japanese were still in bed. They were frightened by the sudden explosion, and some were killed on the spot.

Some were buried alive in the ruins, some had their arms or thighs blown off, while most of the survivors were dead.

It is very clear that the war has reached this point. Even if Yokosuka shed all her last drop of blood, she will not be able to shake half of the hair of the First Fleet.

At 6:30 a.m., the highest commander of Yokosuka Naval Base instructed him to hang up the white flag, give up all resistance, and surrender to the First Fleet.

This naval battle is known in history as the "Surprise Attack of Yokosuka Battle." The Yokosuka torpedo boats, nearly 30 gunboats were sunk, and more than a dozen artillery batteries were destroyed. Nearly 4,000 casualties were killed and killed. The First Fleet did not suffer any losses except for a few small pits in the armored belt. This was related to Japan's vigorous development of the navy and not paying attention to the construction of the artillery, but the suddenness of the breath was also an important reason for its success.
