Volume 6, The Country and the Mountains, Volume 25, The Power of the Light Cruiser Fleet

.

A 2-meter shell hit the rear of the hull of Fearless 3, tear the armor into the engine room, exploded and broke all the steam pipes, and the main engine stopped immediately. Then Fearless 3, which had lost its power, was sent into the sea.

The remaining light cruisers continued to approach the US Battle Cruise, shooting 12 torpedoes at the US "Brooklyn" and "Nashville" from 1800-1900, and none of them hit. In fact, the effective distance of the torpedo was only 800 meters. "However," added China's war history: "This successfully forced the US formation to turn to evade, and their artillery fire began to be sparse and lose its regularity."

The Chinese light cruiser, who was ready to die, continued to fight with the US warships. The 434 fearless two 100-meter shells hit the engine room, and the steam pipelines were completely destroyed. Seeing that the US battleship formation was driving at full speed, it was obvious that it was impossible to tow or rescue themselves, the captain ordered the undersea raft to be opened and sunk.

In the second round of the light patrol formation, a total of 22 torpedoes were fired at the US fleet. The two torpedoes launched by Luckily hit the target: sinking New York and injuring St. Louis. Apart from this, there were not many records, but the French fleet suddenly exploded in the distance.

The Marseille battleship was hit, and a torpedo launched from the Light Cruise fleet passed through five or six cruisers, and then relied on inertia to hit the Marseille three nautical miles away, which was beyond everyone's expectations.

The torpedo exploded at the waterline, directly blowing out a large hole with a diameter of more than one meter. The defects of the Marseille itself amplified the severity of the explosion, and the surging sea water increased the weight of the Marseille. The Marseille began to have a significant right tilt, and then sank into the sea very solemnly under the shocking gaze of its own soldiers.

The French fleet had not realized the fact that they were hit by light patrol torpedoes, and the ships quickly dispersed to avoid being sneak attacked by the legendary submarine. At the same time, the French swept their tails and retreated southward, pushing the Americans tightly in front.

"Good opportunity! Go forward and concentrate on attacking the US warships, heading south!"

After a brief wait, the Chinese fleet finally waited for the opportunity to defeat the US and French fleets. The Chinese battleships grew to 17 knots, and the second-level cruiser group serving as the escort barrier began to emerge, gathered around the formation flagship 418 Tan Fenglin ordered to drive westward and decided to encircle the US fleet.

The situation on the battlefield suddenly changed, and the American armored cruiser formation had suffered enough damage. Carnere realized that he had been fooled and the battle could no longer be carried out according to his intentions. The impulsive and belligerent personality and the overly calm Sampson are two extremes. "If you catch it, you will never let go" is the Chinese description of him.

As a result, six battleships and six first-class heavy cruisers in the Chinese fleet landed, and 10 light cruisers collided head-on with four first-class armored cruisers in the US Fleet 5 battleships.

At 446 points, the US fleet turned to 180 starboard. It retreated to the southwest at full speed and took the closest route to meet with France. "The Royal Princess sent a flag to the French: Emergency, the enemy ships were in the northeast. Our position was 56 degrees and 36 degrees and 6 degrees and 4 minutes east longitude. This flag was not correctly understood by the French. It was mistranslated as "The enemy fleet's 12-15 battleship was observed, with the direction southeast and southeast."

Sampson later explained: "The Chinese fleet I saw before never exceeded 4 battleships, so I don't know Tan Fenglin's exact background." So the main force of the French fleet began to accelerate, and it seemed that he wanted the Americans to bear the firepower of the Chinese fleet alone:

The fleet's decisive battle was close at hand, and the hospital was ready to receive the wounded. Even Sampson, who was known for his indifference, was paced back and forth in the commander's tower. In the words of the adjutant, "in rare excitement."

Carneer drove north, and in the outpost battle from 348 to 446 minutes, there was no doubt that he was the defeated side. Afterwards, statistics from the Ordnance Bureau showed that there were problems with the 30%-70 shell fuses of the US fleet at that time! The Americans' "speed is protection" theory also paid a bloody price. "Everyone on the armored cruiser did nothing wrong, the damn design was wrong, and those poor souls were resting."

Of course, Chinese armored cruisers were also damaged. A large hole was opened in the front of the deck of the Jilin, which would become a fatal injury; one of the Shandong turrets lost its combat capability, and the other two were damaged to varying degrees; the Liaoning and Heilongjiang each poured nearly 100 tons of sea water, and the latter had 6 guns left for use, and 2 of them had faults; but overall the losses were extremely minor. Excellent armor protection, solid hull structure, precise sighting equipment and powerful and effective armor-piercing bombs were the key to the victory of the Chinese fleet.

443. The order for evacuation was transmitted to the light cruiser detachment 3 miles south. Commander Wen Dingyu was determined to follow the bachelor's style and continue to complete the torpedo attack mission. His staff recalled: "We intend to disobey the order, or temporarily put this order on hold, for two main reasons.

First, I wanted to get closer to the US fleet to obtain a more detailed report; second, I planned to launch a torpedo attack on the enemy's single column at a suitable distance. So the ship rushed towards them at speed. Every second was as long as a century, hoping that dense fire would appear on the side of the enemy, and then a hail-like rain of bullets would flood us."

Near to 1400 meters, the Fearless 10 cruiser fired a torpedo at the American battleship, but of course it failed to hit. When approaching 1300 meters, it issued a flag saying: the enemy fleet was in the south and was single-lined. The vanguard was a first-class armored cruiser. The enemy battleship joined the convergence from the south. The ship was located at 56 degrees and 29 minutes north latitude and 6 degrees and 14 minutes east longitude.

445. The Chinese fleet turned two points to the port side, and the Chinese fleet lined up in six rows and rushed directly towards the US fleet. The flag was raised on the mast of the Zhili: Distribute fire from right to left, and shoot a single ship on a single ship. Tan Fenglin stood on the bridge, practicing with interest in the targets. The first row of shells fell prematurely.

Soon, the six battleships of the First Fleet turned their muzzles toward the Cruiser of Kaneel. The firepower was too dense that each ship could not observe its bounce point. The others "have nothing to do, hide behind the 2-meter-thick steel plate to eat canned beef, and everything is left to fate." So the four cruisers ran away like rabbits, moving left and right in the dense barrage. After a full 15 minutes, they were in absurd and unharmed!

The Chinese light cruiser began to continue attacking, hitting the dogs in the water. At a distance of 900, they shot 17 torpedoes at the US battle patrol, and missed. According to US records, one of them was rubbed against the ship and went, and the distance was only 1 second.

Then five American battleships appeared in front of the Chinese fleet, with the distance between the two sides reaching a distance of four thousand meters, and the first time they reached a distance that could start a war.
