Chapter V Establishing Rules and Regulations

Without rules, you cannot achieve square or round.

...

The Imperial Guards finally began to be established. Lin Guangyu spent a lot of effort on this army. As a student in the history department, he only had one month of short-term military training in practice, but as a military enthusiast, he had several different sets of training knowledge in his mind. But the difficulty lies in how to convert this insight into practice.

The emperor did not expect to train troops himself, which was beyond his ability and his responsibilities. It was right to care and discuss it. If you really put on military uniforms and lie on ice and taste snow in the field, you would be very wrong.

After more than a month of hard work, the backbone sponsors of Yinchang, Feng Guozhang, Liangbi and others came one after another. Before they arrived, the emperor had already taken out the military system he planned to talk about on paper. The formation of this military system was three obvious differences from the new army. First, it did not attack the new army's town, cooperation, and standard system, but replaced it with the division, brigade, and regiment system that the emperor was more familiar with; second, it did not adopt the military rank system of the new army, but replaced it with the more common general, school, and lieutenant system in various countries; third, it was more scientific than the new army's system in terms of system - nonsense, can it be unscientific? It has been 100 years of experience.

In terms of rank setting, the emperor divided the entire imperial army into seventh ranks and 18 levels:

First level: The Imperial Marshal, enjoyed by the emperor;

The second level: the Imperial Marshal, generally a military rank of honor, awarded to the general with outstanding meritorious achievements;

The third level: the Imperial General, the lieutenant general, and the major general, and the senior officer of the Imperial Army;

The fourth level is the Imperial Military Academy, divided into three levels: colonel, lieutenant colonel, and major, and is an intermediate officer of the Imperial Army;

The fifth rank is the Imperial Army Captain, lieutenant, second lieutenant and warrant officer. The officer intern and the deputy platoon leader who has served for less than one year have been on the rank of warrant officer. He is the junior officer of the Imperial Army;

The sixth level, the Imperial Sergeant, divided into three levels: sergeant, sergeant, and corporal, are professional non-commissioned officers of the Imperial;

The seventh level, the imperial soldiers are divided into first-class private, second-class private, third-class private. If the new recruits have been enrolled for three months and have passed the assessment, they will be awarded the rank of third-class private. Every time the service period is extended by one year, the rank will be increased by one level.

According to the current situation of the Imperial Guards, Yinchang, Feng Guozhang was awarded the lieutenant general, Liangbi, the commander of the brigade of the First Brigade, Zhang Shaozhang was awarded the major general, Jiang Fangzhen was awarded the colonel, and others, such as the first-class guard in front of the Imperial Guards, Xirong, can be awarded the major... At the same time, it is stipulated that officers and soldiers below the major and below must be stationed in the military camp, and above the lieutenant can live separately from their families. Except for the rest days, normal daily reports must be reported. At the same time, officers above the lieutenant can be equipped with adjutants and a certain number of entourage soldiers. As a lieutenant can serve as adjutants, but there are three restrictions: First, the adjutant and the chief officer must be more than 4 levels apart, and the lieutenant can only find the second lieutenant as an adjutant, and so on; Second, the relationship between the adjutant and the chief officer must be five times, and the origins of the two must be more than 300 miles apart, so as to prevent the chief officer from using nepotism to install private individuals; Third, the adjutant shall not serve as an adjutant for the same chief officer for more than 5 years.

According to the plan, the Imperial Guards trained a total of 8,000 people in the first phase, and formed a mixed brigade that combines multiple armies such as stance, cavalry, artillery, labor, and luggage, and set up a single training team.

The First Mixed Brigade of the Imperial Guard is organized into the third regiment and five battalions system, and it is all composed of three units - the first regiment has three battalions, one battalion under its jurisdiction, one battalion manages three platoons, one row is divided into three squads, and so on. The so-called third regiment refers to two infantry regiments and one artillery regiment; the so-called fifth regiment refers to cavalry battalion, engineering battalion, baggage battalion, reserve battalion, and guard battalion. The first three battalions include cavalry, engineers and baggage battalion. The reserve battalion is equivalent to the brigade reserve team. The guard battalion is directly under the brigade commander. The elite troops responsible for the defense brigade department can refer to the first chapter of the Imperial Guard in the work related to the work.

All guns of the Imperial Guards are intended to be in German:

The rifle is the 1898 style of the German Mauser, with a 7.92mm pointed bullet; the heavy machine gun is the German Maxim, and the bullet-synchronous rifle;

The rifle is a German-made Mauser 1898 short-barrel type, bullet-synchronous rifle;

Officers below the captain and professional sergeants were equipped with Mauser's pistol, namely the shell gun, and officers above the major used the Dezorug pistol.
