Chapter 550 Awakening(1/2)

When he said his name, he had completely calmed down and was waiting for Chen Yan's response with great interest.

The answer to the question was not beyond Chen Yan's expectation.

But Chen Yan fell silent again for no reason.

"Because of Chen Changsheng, we are comrades-in-arms."

"And, we will soon become partners."

Leonard Adams' tone became friendly. This was his usual method in transactions. No one could refuse to be close to the direct bloodline of the Adams family, not even the reputable archbishops of the Chorus.

Leonard Adams could use violence to occupy No. 33 Walker Street, but he didn't want to do that. He was a businessman, and he had abided by his duty as a businessman from the beginning of his business - only what he paid for was rewarded. This is a businessman.

The duty of doing business is also the principle.

When his father first told him these things when he was young, he always kept them in mind.

"If you discover the evil he has done in the underground, I can buy it at a high price, um... the price is 50 pounds a piece, how about it?"

Leonard Adams didn't use a joking tone at all.

Chen Yan said nothing.

Leonard Adams looked at his reaction and understood that Chen Yan did not find anything about what Chen Changsheng did during his underground trip - maybe he did, but he refused to tell it for some reason.

.

He looked at Chen Yan and his tone was as usual:

"I will soon organize a prosecution against Chen Changsheng. I will expose the things he did in Tianshen State and the seeds of the [Flower of Evil] he spread. I will let everyone know that on the surface, it looks better than

James Adams, who is a gentleman to everyone, is essentially a poisonous insect that poisons society!"

Leonard Adams looked at Chen Yan with a smile:

"This is what you've always wanted to do, right?"

Chen Yan finally spoke again:

"How do you know these things?"

Leonard Adams smiled, he finally achieved his goal, he finally found Chen Yan's breakthrough.

"When I was young, I didn't care much about dignity, so I was very good at pleasing people."

He winked playfully, and his eyes were as innocent as the neighbor's young man carrying a guitar and saying hello after finishing his hobby class at 9pm.

"At that time, Chen Changsheng had not experienced the disasters that later happened, and he was still a 'simple' young man. I begged him to tell me the story of Tianshenzhou, so he told me everything that happened that year."

"What impressed me most about the things he told me was that of a silly young man, holding a dogtail grass in his mouth, sitting on the edge of the field next to the academy, looking at him from a distance with a ferocious look that wanted to kill someone.

Look at him."

Chen Yan couldn't remember having that look in his eyes at all.

Those memories are too long ago.

"He told me that he didn't understand the young man's intention to kill him at the time. How could a young man who had been ignorant for more than ten years and was regarded as a fool by everyone have the intention to kill him?"

"He became interested in that boy."

"Later I inquired about it and found out that the young man's name was Chen Yan."

"He said that before he left Tianshen State for the last time, he met a girl... It can't be said to be a girl. It can be said to be something more advanced than the violent spirit. It is so advanced that our current technological level cannot understand it, and it may be possible in the future.

There’s no way to understand it.”

"The girl asked him about something, and she mentioned you."

"So, he became more interested in you."

"Ever since you received William Master's employment notice, he has known about your existence."

"He's always paying attention to you."

"I think he's just interested in the girl."

"No matter what... you want to kill him, and I want to kill him too. I don't want to see his dead face again for a second, really."

While Leonard Adams was telling this, unusual movement suddenly occurred on Walker Street.

A large group of workers appeared from the end of Walker Street. They were walking in the heavy snow, shouting irregular slogans, holding many painted signs, and pulling banners with red cloth and black letters.

Chen Yan's eyes flickered and he saw the word "strike" written on the signs, while the banner said "more wages and overtime pay."

The word "overtime pay" is even spelled wrong.

The size of this group of people was indeed quite large, and the long queue in the heavy snow stretched to the end of Chen Yan's field of vision.

"Ah, he turned out to be my worker, I really made you laugh."

Leonard Adams made awkward body language and sounded extremely embarrassed.

But Chen Yan couldn't "feel" the slightest bit of embarrassment on his part.

"These people are really greedy."

He lamented:

"As an employee of the William Adams Group, you receive the salary paid by the group, and even the low-temperature subsidy in winter - I want to emphasize that in Yanan City, the low-temperature subsidy is unique to the William Adams Group."

He said in a complaining tone:

"The money they earn is much higher than workers in other factories - the daily salary of ordinary factory workers is 8 pence a day. I directly pay 12 pence to the interns who have just joined the job, and 16 pence after they become full-time workers.

That’s twice as much as other factories!”

"We already have so much extra money, what's the matter with working overtime? Is there any factory in Yanan City that doesn't work overtime?"

"But people are so greedy. Once they get the good ones, they want better ones."

He looked at the workers who were about to pass under Apartment 33 with cold eyes. His eyes did not seem to be looking at humans like him.

"Do you know why they went on strike?"

Leonard Adams looked at Chen Yan and grinned:

"I canceled their vacation this month."

He seemed to be saying something that should be taken for granted.

"The group is now at a critical juncture and requires workers to work more overtime to complete production. If the group can survive this crisis, their wages will rise accordingly."

Chen Yan suddenly interrupted:

"How high will their wages go?"

Leonard Adams was immediately unhappy. He already regarded Chen Yan as his employee, and employees who questioned their boss were usually not good employees. No boss would like such a thorn in the side.

Leonard Adams's view of Chen Yan has changed. If he didn't still need Chen Yan to do things for him, he would never continue this conversation.

"Twenty pence a day."

He said this number in a proud tone, as if the four-penny salary increase was something he was proud of.

"Even you, an employee of the Byron Weiss Group, will not be able to get this number after becoming a regular employee!"

"And they."

He pointed to the workers who had arrived on the street in front of Apartment 33.

"They can enjoy such wages and live a much better life than most workers in Nan City, and the price they have to pay is just not taking a break for a month!"

Chen Yan asked again:

"If you don't take a break for a month, can you survive the crisis?"

Leonard Adams's displeasure with Chen Yan deepened:

"Of course! Besides, these workers didn't question our qualifications at all!"

His words were so stiff that he didn't even notice:

"I have shown my kindness to them, but they only want to ask for it. Just one month without rest, just four days less rest, and they are going on strike! This is simply unimaginable!"

Chen Yan said:

"Perhaps the news of no rest for a month is just the trigger, and the treatment on weekdays is the root cause."

Leonard Adams's face finally changed:

"Do you know what you are talking about? The group pays them money, and they should work for the group!"

Chen Yan looked at his increasingly fierce eyes. Countless people had cowered under such eyes. What people were afraid of was not only the ferocity of the eyes themselves, but also the basis on which this ferocity could appear - the William Adams Group.

Chen Yan seemed not to be disturbed by his eyes at all. He looked at the surging crowd on the street:

"But their value is even greater. Without them, the group will not be able to operate just by relying on you guys named Adams."

Leonard Adams was really offended. Before Chen Yan, no one dared to say such a thing in front of him.

"Without the group, workers are nothing! Without the equipment purchased by the group, without the technology developed by the group, and without the group's technical guidance, workers are nothing!"

"Without the group, who will pay these workers? On their own? Ha!"
To be continued...
