Chapter 57 The Wisdom of the Other Side
The Zen Master said, "No matter how far the journey is, you will eventually arrive."
"It's just that the distance under your feet is easy to reach, but the demonic obstacles in your heart are difficult to eliminate."
"I have here a volume of the Duo Heart Sutra, with a total of fifty-four sentences and two hundred and seventy words."
"If you encounter a demonic obstacle, just recite this sutra and you will not be harmed."
Li Fu heard about it and studied with the Zen master.
The "Maha Prajna Paramita Heart Sutra" may seem mysterious, but it is actually not difficult.
"Maha" means "big".
"Prajna" is the expression of "wisdom".
"Paramita" means "reaching the other shore".
To put it simply, this is a Heart Sutra that talks about how to use great wisdom to reach the other shore.
Although Li Fu has not been practicing Buddhist scriptures for a long time, he is also considered to be knowledgeable and memorized.
He listened to Zen Master Wuchao reciting the "Duo Heart Sutra" and immediately remembered it in his mind.
Zen Master Wuchao smiled and saw that Li Fu was familiar with him, so he stepped onto the cloud light to climb up to Wuchao.
Li Fu said, "Zen Master, please stay."
He asked again, "How far is the journey west and what is the difficulty?"
Zen Master Wuchao said with a smile, "The road ahead is not difficult, so I will tell you briefly."
"There are thousands of mountains and thousands of rivers ahead, and there are many places where miasma is floating and evil spirits are occupying."
"If you encounter that cliff that touches the sky, don't be afraid."
"When you reach Namoor Rock, you can pass by walking sideways."
"Look carefully at the black pine forest. The demon fox inside will block the road."
"Encountering the national city along the way, the elves are full of pits and valleys."
"The demon lords who dominate the mountains and become kings are one after another."
"The tiger sits on the piano hall, and the wolf is the master."
"Lions and elephants become kings, and tigers and leopards become courtiers."
"You are a wild boar carrying a load. If you go forward, you will encounter a water monster."
"What kind of anger does this old stone monkey next to you harbor?"
"If you want to ask how far westward is, just ask."
When Wukong heard what the Zen master said, he sneered and said, "Master! Let's go! You don't have to ask him! Just ask me!"
Li Fu nodded and said, "This Zen master came in a weird way. Asking him how far west he traveled is a lie, but asking him how far he traveled to the west is a lie."
The Zen master didn't take it seriously. With a smile on his face, he turned into a golden light and went straight to Wuchao.
Wukong really hates this kind of pretense.
He took out the iron rod from his ear and said, "Big! Big! Big!"
He pounded it up again and again!
In the void, I suddenly saw thousands of white lotuses growing, and thousands of layers of auspicious mist protecting me.
Even though Wukong has overwhelming strength, he still can't sweep away a vine above the black nest.
Li Fu stopped the traveler and said, "Wukong, Wukong, don't do this. Since you know that this is a Bodhisattva, why are you destroying his lair?"
Wukong said angrily, "He scolded my two brothers! How can I not be angry!"
"Why?" Li Fu asked.
Wukong explained, "Master! You don't know very well. He said that the wild boar was carrying the burden, so he scolded Bajie."
"The old stone monkey has been scolding me for many years."
Bajie is not very angry. Although he was humiliated, he comforted Wukong.
He said, "Brother! Brother, please calm down. This Zen master also knows the past and the future."
"Since He said something about 'water monsters encountered ahead of us,' we will move forward to verify whether what he said is correct, and let Him go with the rest."
Wukong glanced at the black nest protected by the lotus mist, then turned back and asked his master to mount his horse and go down the mountain towards the west.
Along the way, Li Fu gained some insights after recalling the Heart Sutra of Great Wisdom Reaching the Other Shore.
I let go of my obsession and delusion a little, and I felt as if the door had been opened wide and I had stepped into the room.
The three masters and disciples enjoyed the wind and dew along the way, wearing the stars and the moon.
Spring is over and the hot summer is here.
Li Fu was not very energetic in the scorching heat.
The flowers and butterflies I encountered along the way were all of which I had no time to be intimate with.
There are cicadas chirping noisily on the trees, and in the swamp, new lotuses occasionally bloom.
The three of them are marching on this day, and it will be getting late.
Li Fuji saw a cottage on the roadside.
Wukong said, "Master! There is a fire mirror hidden in the western mountains at sunset, and an ice wheel appears in the east sea when the moon rises. The journey becomes even worse."
"Fortunately, there is a family next to this road. We will stay here for the night today and set off again tomorrow."
Bajie said on the other side, "Brother is right! I'm a little hungry, old pig, so I'll go to this person's house to make some vegetarian food."
“Only when you are full and strong will you be able to carry your luggage.”
The traveler said, "You home-loving ghost! You have just been away from your Gao Laozhuang for a few days. Are you complaining?"
Bajie said, "Brother! Your realm is different from mine! You have refined energy, and you are not afraid of hunger even if you drink the wind smoke!"
"I don't have the spiritual practice like you. I followed the master for several days and endured a state of half-starvation."
"Senior brother, do you know?"
After hearing this, Li Fu thought about what Old Mrs. Gao said about Bajie's appetite, and it was indeed true.
He said, "Wuneng, we have a lot of money. If we get to that city and more people come out, you can offer us a meal."
"Whether you become a monk or learn Buddhist scriptures, going hungry is not the right path."
Bajie burst into tears after hearing this. He kowtowed to the ground and said, "Master is benevolent and righteous! Master is benevolent and righteous!"
"Old pig, I'm a straight-up idiot."
"When I feel hungry, I will say I'm hungry and look for a place to ask for food."
"But senior brother said that I am a homebody!"
"Master!"
"I take the precepts of Bodhisattva and receive mercy from my master."
"I am willing to serve Master and go to the West without any regrets."
"This kind of heart, practice hard."
"Why am I not a monk?"
Li Fu said, "Bajie, get up."
The fool on the ground jumped up. He was chattering and carrying the burden with determination.
The four masters and apprentices on white horses arrived at the door of that person's house.
Li Fu dismounted, Monkey took over the reins, and Bajie put down his luggage to rest.
All three are under the shade of green.
Li Fu held a nine-ring tin staff and arranged the rattan bamboo hat made by Wukong's bamboo craftsman. He walked to the door and saw an old man.
The old man was lying on the bamboo bed, muttering Buddhist scriptures in a low voice.
Li Fu was afraid of scaring the old man with his loud voice.
He said softly and slowly, "Donor, you are polite!"
Although the old man is old, he has a sharp ear.
He suddenly jumped up from the bed, gathered his clothes, went out and said politely, "Elder! You are not welcome! You are not welcome! Where did you come from? Why did you come to my humble family?"
Li Fu said, "The poor monk is a monk from the Tang Dynasty in the East. According to the imperial decree, he went to the Leiyin Temple in the West to obtain the true scriptures."
"On the way to a treasure land, the sun is getting late. I want to stay in your house for a night. I hope the benefactor will find it convenient!"
When the old man heard this, he quickly waved his hand and said, "You can't go! You can't go! To seek scriptures from the West? Difficult! Difficult! Difficult!"
"If you want to learn scriptures, go to the east!"
Li Fu was silent for a long time. He didn't know whether the world here was also a round ball.
If this is the case, traveling eastward can lead to the west.
