Chapter 526 Evil Cause
The barefoot monk used his own blood to draw a picture and a few lines of words in this corner.
In the painting, there are Buddhist temples, Buddha statues, monks, and evil spirits...
At the back, everything was in a sea of fire.
And the last picture is the scene in this temple.
In other words, it was the scene where seven eminent monks led hundreds of monks to gather in the Mahavira Hall decades ago.
The monks in the temple sat here, chanting scriptures, until the blood flowed dry, and the expressions on everyone's faces remained peaceful and fearless.
This barefoot monk must have been a master of painting during his lifetime.
Using your finger as the pen and blood as the ink, in times of despair, with just a few strokes, you can clearly tell a sad story.
It is clearly expressed in the painting.
Even the demeanor of each monk was clearly expressed.
Seeing the densely packed skeletons in the Main Hall, and then seeing this bloody painting of He Temple sacrificing his life to suppress the evil spirits, anyone will be moved by the tragedy and tragedy of Lanruo Temple, and stand in awe of the great compassion and fearlessness of the monks of Lanruo Temple.
But if it weren't for the previous paintings and the messy lines of blood letters, who would have known that they would have reaped the consequences of all this?
A few simple blood paintings tell a story that makes people sigh.
This story is actually closely related to the incense and Shinto method that Xuan She said he accidentally saw and which Chen Yi himself did not appreciate.
Lanruo Temple, indeed as he thought, inherited the Dharma of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
And it has a long history. Judging from the clothes of some of the people painted in the first few blood paintings, it dates back more than a thousand years.
In addition, there is something very unique about this temple.
The barrier that covers the Main Hall with a mirror-like appearance was not temporarily put up by the barefoot monks, but was originally present in the temple.
Because when this temple was first established, it also welcomed pilgrims from all over the world.
However, the "pilgrims" they welcomed were somewhat unusual.
During the day, they are ordinary people, nothing unusual.
But at night, there are some wandering ghosts and even evil spirits.
In the former case, what we saw were naturally the three Buddhas of the third generation.
And what the latter saw was Ksitigarbha, who had made a great vow not to become a Buddha until hell was empty.
What do people fear most after death?
Of course I'm afraid of going to hell.
And this Ksitigarbha king made a great wish to save all sentient beings from falling into hell.
Regardless of whether Ksitigarbha’s meaning is what people understand, but based on this, people naturally take it for granted that Ksitigarbha is in charge of this area.
When you get to someone else's land, of course you have to worship the boss.
Therefore, Lanruo Temple is no different from other temples on the surface, but in essence, it is still a Yin Temple.
Perhaps it has something to do with the Ksitigarbha tradition they inherited. The monks in the temple are very keen on exalting ghosts.
And it is precisely this that laid the root of the disaster for Lanruo Temple today.
What is the purpose of monks practicing?
Most of them are, of course, aiming to achieve enlightenment and become a Buddha.
The monks of Lanruo Temple have inherited the tradition for thousands of years and practiced hard. There are many eminent monks who have great virtues, and it is not uncommon for those with magical power to reach heaven.
But no one has ever achieved success.
Let alone becoming a Buddha, you cannot escape even this limit in this world.
So some people began to wonder, are there immortals and Buddhas in this world?
It wasn't until more than two hundred years ago that an eminent monk in the temple obtained the method of becoming a god by burning incense from nowhere.
At that time, Lanruo Temple, like Chen Yi, did not think highly of such heretical practices.
But after all, it was considered a novelty, so the eminent monk studied it and got results.
And unintentionally, another stream path was opened, and the countless ghosts accumulated in the temple over thousands of years and the incense and prayers of ordinary people were condensed into a Buddha statue.
It is the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva in the temple, which is made of brass and dressed in colorful gemstones!
It turns out that the Ksitigarbha statue enshrined in Lanruo Temple is no different from ordinary clay puppets.
And the current statue is not made of brass or precious stones.
But the incense condenses!
Chen Yi couldn't help but look at the Bodhisattva statue a few more times. If he hadn't known it from the painting, he wouldn't have noticed anything strange at all. He would have thought that the monk Lanruo Temple was so arrogant that he cast it out of brass and jade. A statue of Bodhisattva four to five feet high.
I couldn't help but be amazed.
Although this statue of Bodhisattva condensed with incense cannot have the magical powers of Ksitigarbha, it does possess all kinds of strange powers like a piece of earth.
This Bodhisattva statue makes Lanruo Temple even more effective. Those ghosts who come here to worship Ksitigarbha are almost invincible.
The name of Lanruo Temple spread even more widely.
Wandering souls and wild ghosts in the world come to worship him.
The monks in the temple didn't think it was strange at first. It was just a place, but to the eminent monks in the temple, it was not something extraordinary.
On the contrary, it can save more ghosts and make them happier.
After that, the monks in the temple gradually made discoveries again.
This statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva has become even more miraculous.
Moreover, it can gather a very magical power from heaven and earth.
They discovered that this kind of power is almost omnipotent and responds to all requests.
This is the reason why this Buddha statue is so responsive.
The monks discovered that only by helping those ghosts fulfill their wishes and achieve meritorious deeds, this magical power would increase.
So, they called this divine power merit.
They think it is the merit and divine power sent down by God to reward them.
Their merit and divine power can even increase their cultivation and practice out of thin air, and can even be helpful for their understanding of Buddhism.
This made the monks greedy and foolish.
As for this Bodhisattva statue, it was originally just a body of sustenance for Ksitigarbha. It is indispensable to respect it, but I don't think it is a treasure.
After that, this Bodhisattva statue became the treasure of Lanruo Temple.
More than a hundred years ago, some senior monks had wild imaginations and believed that this was how Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva attained enlightenment, and that was why he made the great vow to never become a Buddha until he went to hell.
This idea was naturally denounced as heresy by other monks and considered as a great disrespect to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
The monk was stubborn and wanted to use the merit and divine power gathered by the Bodhisattva statue to help him achieve the right goal and become a Buddha and an ancestor.
It also caused a moment of turmoil, and Lanruo Temple almost fell apart.
Fortunately, no evil consequences were caused, and the monk was expelled from the door by the abbot at that time.
But the seeds of evil were sown.
Although the monk's idea was considered taboo in Lanruo Temple, it eventually spread.
When the end of every generation of eminent monks is approaching, they will inevitably think of it.
With their level of Taoism, they can overcome life and death, but they can only overcome the demonic obstacle to becoming a Buddha.
For thousands of years, countless predecessors have practiced hard, and they themselves have been diligent and never slacked off, but no one has ever seen even the slightest hope.
Finally, in the generation of the Barefoot Monk, this evil barrier could no longer be suppressed.
Among the seven brothers of their generation, two of them are approaching their end, and they feel unwilling to do so.
I want to imitate Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, save countless evil ghosts in hell, and gather immeasurable merits to help myself achieve positive results!
Although the others were unwilling, they couldn't bear to see the two brothers obsessed with evil and causing trouble again, so they decided to work together.
In their opinion, it is a great good deed to save evil ghosts in hell.
Even if it fails, it is still a great merit and can make the two fellow apprentices repent, so there is nothing wrong with it.
So, the seven people worked together to open the door to hell with the secret method passed down for thousands of years in the temple!
Unexpectedly, in the ghost gate, there is no underworld as they thought, only...
