Chapter 15: Karp(2/2)
It was not until dusk that they saw Cap City from afar.
Or more precisely, it should be Cappu Castle.
It is a city-state in name, but in fact it is very different from an ordinary city-state.
Here, there are no streets, only villages scattered in the forest. Everything is built on the mountain, and there are no large-scale settlements. The most conspicuous one is the castle built on the top of the mountain.
It was a gray castle covered with spots that looked like the spots left after the moss was dried up. It was at least thirty meters high and there were three towers. There were soldiers standing on the tower.
What is still hung is not only the antler flag of the local lord, but also the rosemary flag of the Beshire family.
Seeing the rosemary flag, Alvin frowned slightly: "If it has really been rebellious, shouldn't the flag be replaced? I won't say about the flag of the local lord, and the flag of the Beshir family should be removed as soon as possible. Could it be that the demon just cast a magic spell?"
George and Matthew next to each other looked at each other without saying a word.
Soon, they came to a fence in the mountains. It was a simple fence built of wood and had the function of resisting horses. A large number of soldiers patrolled back and forth, but it did not stop the merchants.
Instead, they opened the fenced door and stood on the mail tower next to them and watched quietly, allowing the merchants to enter and exit freely. It was as if nothing had happened to Cap.
The three followed Martin's team and quickly walked over the fence and arrived at one of the small settlements.
It is said to be a settlement, but in fact there are only a dozen three to four-story houses, surrounded by a flat land in the middle. There is a well and a gallows.
Martin said to them happily: "This is the most central area of Cape. When we come here, we usually live here. It is also here for the execution of hanging."
"Is this the center of Cap? Shouldn't it be a castle?" As he said that, Alvin looked at the castle in the distance.
"It should be the castle, but what does that center have to do with us? We are just here to do business." Martin spread his hands.
The merchants who were traveling with them had already started unloading goods. There was a warehouse next to them. They were unloading the goods they brought over and then piled them all into the warehouse. Some merchants had already walked into the hotel and started preparing to rent a house and stay.
The sky gradually became darker.
Alvin and his party stood in a daze in the open space, a little puzzled.
"Are you mistaken? I think everything is normal here." Matthew whispered.
"Let's take a look first, we'll stay there too." Alvin replied.
The group tied up the horses at the door and walked into the hotel.
The white-bearded shop owner looked at them and asked, "Three rooms?"
"No, one room is enough." Alvin replied without thinking.
"One room? But you have three."
"Yes, the three of us are going to live in a room."
"I suggest you rent three rooms. There are enough rooms here, so I can count you a little cheaper."
"No, we still want one. Thank you."
"Okay, follow you." As he said that, the shop owner walked out of the counter with an oil lamp and stepped onto the stairs: "Come with me."
"Okay." Alvin followed.
Matthew whispered: "Do we have to live in a room? Three men."
"Stay separate, do you want to be beaten one by one?" George, who was walking at the end, whispered.
...
When he pushed open the door, the shop owner lit the lights and said to them: "This is the room with the best view in our shop. From here you can see the foot of the mountain and the gallows. If someone executes the execution, even if there are many people around you, you can clearly see it from the balcony."
"Are there often people executed executions here?" Alvin asked.
"It's not very often, but there are always one or two times a month."
A very ordinary room, only twenty square meters. If there are three people, it will look a little crowded. Especially when they are carrying their own weapons and equipment, it will be even more crowded. Under the fire of the oil lamp, there is a feeling of drowsiness.
"Are you satisfied?" the store owner turned around and asked.
"Satisfied." Alvin replied.
"Then please pay the rent for three days first, a total of six silver coins."
As he said that, the shop owner had already reached out to Alvin with a hand.
Alvin took out his wallet, shook it, took out six silver coins and handed it over.
After taking the money, the boss turned around and left, and closed the door.
Matthew complained in a low voice: "This poor and remote house requires two silver coins a day? Are you kidding?"
...
At this moment, in the building opposite, two pairs of eyes were staring at them through the window.
It was the girl who appeared in Aspar before. Behind her, there was a middle-aged man wearing armor.
"Will you do it tonight?" the middle-aged man asked softly.
