Chapter 02: The Fleeing Lich (2)

The owner of the hotel was walking in front with an oil lamp, followed by Yilin and a group of knights under his command.

The iron boots stepped on the wooden stairs and made a "Yayaya" sound, as if they would collapse at any time.

Until the top floor, the hotel owner reached out and pushed open the false wooden door.

What caught my eye was an ordinary room.

There is a balcony where the red moonlight spreads along the balcony's floor-to-ceiling windows, shining on the desk facing the fence. It is a bit broken.

There is also a bookshelves next to it, empty, a set of simple tables and chairs, and a bed covered with brown sheets. There are not even any decoration pendants or paintings on the walls.

In this era, such a room is pretty good, after all, it is just a place where civilians live. However, although on the top floor of the third floor, the room is still filled with a smell of mold, and the air is turbid and humid. As soon as the door is opened, a pungent smell comes to your face.

Yilin's brows frowned, and she unconsciously covered her nose with her hands.

The boss quickly trotted to open the window for breathability.

"Is there no better room?" asked the bearded knight angrily.

After lit two oil lamps in the room, the hotel owner replied with a flattering smile: "This is the best."

"Then make your own room free!"

The bearded knight grabbed the hotel owner's collar and lifted him up. The hotel owner was frightened and the oil lamp in his hand almost fell to the ground.

Just as the bearded knight was about to move, Yilin raised her hand, and the bearded knight immediately stopped and put the hotel owner down.

"Okay. It's only a few hours until dawn, and it's the same wherever you sleep. Everyone should rest quickly and have to hurry up."

Yilin spoke, and the bearded knight took a respectful step back and saluted: "Yes, Miss Yilin."

“Go out.”

"yes."

Everyone exited the door.

In the small room, Yilin was the only one left.

She took a deep breath, couldn't help coughing twice, covered her lips and walked to the balcony step by step, opened the floor-to-ceiling window wider, and then stood quietly, allowing the breeze to brush across her cheeks. Her hand holding the sword tightened unconsciously.

Suddenly, a scream came, followed by the sound of horse hooves, screams, and collisions.

"He's here! Hurry!"

"Don't let him run away!"

Opening his eyes, Yilin walked out of the balcony and looked towards the street, and saw a short figure in a cloak running past the street. Behind him was chasing a group of knights. Many people were chasing and intercepting them along the way.

"Is there really a lich?" Yilin opened her eyes slightly.

In just a moment, the figure had disappeared from her vision, leaving a mess.

Before she could react, she heard another "bang" sound, and the door behind her was knocked open.

The bearded knight broke in and saw Yilin standing safely on the balcony, so he breathed a sigh of relief and saluted, "Miss Yilin, are you okay?"

"fine."

...

Gray fled with the black cat, as fast as a gust of wind. He overturned the sunshade at the entrance of the alley, stepped on the stalls of the vegetable vendors, and broke the railings of the stables... The knights raised their spears and galloped on the streets, and the originally quiet and peaceful town was in chaos.

What everyone did not expect was that two legs actually outperformed the four legs.

The lich's agility far exceeded the imagination of the knights. He could jump three or four meters high like a grasshopper, cross the top of the knights directly, and drill into the dog's hole like a hamster, and even scattered into two pieces, running under the horse, and jumping over the top of the knight's head. The bow and arrow were useless to him. Even if he shot, he would only leave one or two holes in the black cloak and get stuck in his ribs. In a blink of an eye, he was pulled out and discarded.

"Damn it! Didn't anyone get a net?"

"I'm going to chop him up and feed him to the dog!"

"He ran over there! Hurry!"

The knights were taken around the alley and kept wandering around, and they were all dizzy and exhausted.

Looking at the figures of the knights, the black cat was so happy.

"Wow, you can actually run so fast? I really can't tell. I thought you would fall apart when you run!"

"I added three layers of wind wiping technique to myself!"

"Yes! He looks like an evil lich! Hahahaha!"

The fat ghost hadn't finished laughing yet, but Gray suddenly turned around!

The oncoming knight raised his spear and stabbed towards Gray. At this moment, Gray bent down and accurately avoided the attack, and picked up something.

The black cat's eyes are about to fall off.

"You, you! Why are you? I'm scared to death!" When the black cat recovered, he realized that Gray was pretending to be on his chin... Well, the skeleton would still fall apart when he ran. His chin fell, so he should have picked it up.

When they took a breath and looked around, the black cat suddenly burst out because they were surrounded by a large number of knights, knight entourages, infantry, and even civilians inside and outside!

"Look at where you are going." The silver-armored knight rode his horse and walked up to them with a smile.

"We? No! I have nothing to do with him! I'm just a passing wild cat!" The black cat struggled desperately to explain, but unfortunately it was grabbed by Grey. And its voice fell into the silver armored knight's ears and was just a "meow meow" scream.

...

Yilin stood on the balcony and looked quietly at Gray in the distance, with a bearded knight and a tall and thin middle-aged man standing beside her.

Downstairs of the hotel, several of his knights and knight entourages have all shown their weapons and formed a defensive circle to protect all the entrances of the hotel.

...

The blood-red moonlight shone down, illuminating Gray's bare skull and his worn-out cloak.

He slowly raised his head and looked around.

All the spears were accurately aimed at him, and the people holding the spear swallowed, opened their eyes wide, and shivered with nervousness.

The lich has not appeared in the ground world for thousands of years. For everyone present, this is the first time they have seen the appearance of a lich so closely and so clearly.

Short, only equivalent to the height of a thirteen or fourteen-year-old human child, his white bones emit a dark red luster under the moonlight. The dark red soul fire in his eyes swayed with every movement of his movement, leaving behind a shadow. Although it was a little different from the legendary lich, this evil appearance was enough to scare disobedient children.

He opened his mouth slowly, Gray spit out a wisp of white mist like an evil lich in various novel versions. Just when everyone thought he was going to make some harsh words or curse the gods like in the novel, he said, "It's me that I was wrong. I can bury my bones back and write an apology letter to the owner of the cemetery. Please accept my sincere apology."

This sound is transmitted directly through soul sensing.

Suddenly, everyone was stunned. The scene was quiet.

Yilin, who was standing on the balcony, frowned and smiled: "What are he talking about?"

The bearded knight on one side began to scratch his head, looking puzzled.

The lich has no expression, but everyone should understand the meaning of this sentence.

The black cat who was held in his hand began to roll his eyes: "Which villain surrendered before he even took action? Do you still have to apologize? Oh my god! Do you know that this is a shame for a lich?"

"I just want to resolve it in a peaceful way as much as possible," said Gray.

Grey thought so, but when these words fell into the ears of the Silver Armored Knight, they understood another meaning: "You mean, are you going to surrender?"

"Uh...so to say, if you are willing to accept my apology..."

Before Gray finished speaking, the Silver Armored Knight was already yelling: "Did you hear it? He is scared! He is scared of us! Hahaha! He is scared of us, what else are we afraid of? Give me all and take him down!"

"Roll!" Everyone rushed towards Gray as if they were injected with chicken blood, which scared Gray was stunned.

In the chaos, the people were crowded into a pile.

"Don't push the people behind!"

"Damn it! Who's throwing my ass!"

"I caught the lich! I caught the lich!"

"That's my feet!"

Maybe Gray was too short, so she squeezed it out. The silver armored knight stood on the periphery on a horse, holding the spear right for a long time, but couldn't find out where Gray was.

Just as he was hesitating whether to rush into the crowd himself, he suddenly found that Gray had crawled out of someone's crotch in shame, and then quickly got back and dragged out a black cat.

"He is here! He is going to run away!" Perhaps he was still afraid of the lich, so the Silver Armored Knight did not rush up immediately, but shouted loudly.

This hesitation gave Gray a chance to escape.

He quickly pinched his hands and completed a spell.

The next moment, before the beatings could react, Gray's feet were off the ground, his body brushed and was thrown into the sky like a ball.

"Since you can fly, why don't you fly earlier!" The black cat carried by Gray screamed.

"Because I don't know how to use it!"

Amid the screams, the knights saw Gray's figure drew a parabola in the sky, smashing a straw shed at the other end of the town, and falling apart.

The whole world suddenly became quiet.

The silver-armored knight who came to his senses raised the sword in his hand and shouted: "Chasing!"

So everyone ran to the other end of the town again.
