Chapter 02: Mount Azrant

In July 10757, after a long journey, the Knights of the Silver Moon finally arrived in San Lorenza.

It was a stretched city-state that could not be seen. Standing on the hillside and looking down, it was like a bumpy carpet spread out on the plain, covering all the plains within the view. There were like plowed fields. Neat and staggered streets, artificially dug rivers shuttled through them, small boats rowing with oars served as cargo transport. There were also distinctive dome building structures. The buildings were like chicken coops, with eggs bulging in the chicken coop. Large buildings had big eggs, and small buildings had small eggs without exception.

It is a very standard inland city-state. However, this city is only one of the largest inland city-states that are as standard as it is. This is the largest inland city on the entire continent. Although it is not of any artistic value, it has a sense of magnificence in plainness.

Of course, that's all. Gray wouldn't be surprised. It's been four years since he came to the ground world, and he has traveled through many cities. Especially in the past two years, he has traveled almost all the big cities in the southern part of the mainland. After seeing some things, he gradually felt less excited.

...

The narrow streets, crowded crowds passed by. Grey and the soldiers of the Silver Moon Knights walked slowly.

The person who came to pick him up was a young clergyman. He was wearing a teaching uniform, his hair on the back of his head was shaved, leaving a circle left. He looked like a kappa.

The flags have been put away as required, so no one knows who they are. After all, in a martial country like the Gustav Empire, things like knights have never been a great thing. You can meet a few armoured people on the streets. Of course, there are still few knights wearing superb armor like the Silver Moon Knights.

In the blink of an eye, Gray was taken to a four-story building facing the street, four stories high, looking rectangular from the sky, in the middle is in front of a garden building.

"Sir Paladin, this is the place to be arranged for you." said the clergyman who came to pick him up.

"Why do you want to live here?" Grey asked softly: "We are here to attend the Pope's funeral. Shouldn't we live on Mount Azrant?"

"I'm sorry, there is no place on the mountain. And the funeral of the Pope is a very serious matter. You don't want to take a group of fully armed soldiers to Mount Azrant at this time, right? In fact, there are not many places at the foot of the mountain. Many people come to attend the funeral, including nobles and clergy from all over the country. Almost all hotels have been booked. This house was a businessman who heard that you were going to live in, so he was specially vacated. Otherwise, the Knights of the Silver Moon might have to set up a tent outside the city."

"What are you kidding? Do you want our Silver Moon Knights to set up a tent?" Bangmai shouted.

"According to regulations, you should all live outside the city. The Holy See is not only an army of the Silver Moon Knights. Except for the Knights Templars, which are stationed on Mount Azrant, all other Knights cannot go up the mountain or enter the city. Now it is an exception, I hope you understand."

Bangmao wanted to continue making trouble, but Gray reached out to stop him.

Looking at the Kappa, Oh no, looking at the clergy, Gray whispered: "Who is the cardinal responsible for arranging this aspect? Please thank him for me."

"Actually, it is not the Cardinal who is responsible for arranging this. You know that person, Paladin."

"Who is it?"

"Sir Li Wei." Kappa said with a smile.

When he heard this name, the Silver Moon Knights raised their team up and down, and their expressions were stiff. Bangmai murmured in a low voice: "I said I should have killed him with the wrong hand."

...

From the outside, the building is not big, but from the inside, it is OK.

The garden in the middle is actually built on the first floor of the underground, so this building is actually five floors, not the fourth floor on the surface. There is also a basement down, which is where the miscellaneous things are piled up. It is an ordinary house, but it is big enough. The garden in the middle has been converted into a stable. After all, there are quite a few horses on Gray and his group. There are a total of two hundred rooms on the five floors, which is enough for each person in the entire Silver Moon Knights to have one room, and there are many more.

To be honest, San Lorenza gives Gray the first feeling of being big, and the second feeling is crowded. The whole city is crowded, all the streets are very small, and every house is next to the house next door, and there are people everywhere. Even the canals across the city are full of boats. It is not easy to have such a large mansion in such a place.

"Prince of Paladin." A fat-headed and big-eared merchant came to Gray at the introduction of the Kappa clergyman: "This is Mr. Spie, the owner here. He took the initiative to contribute the place to the use of the Silver Moon Knights for free."

"Thank you." Gray bowed slightly and saluted.

The merchant took off his hat and smiled, then grabbed Gray's hand and kissed: "No, it is my honor to receive Lord Gray, the Paladin. I have a lot of business in the south, and I have been taking care of you in the past two years and it has been very smooth. You will need more care in the future."

"I've taken care of you?"

"Of course, no war or banditry is the greatest care for us merchants. After all, I don't do weapons business." As he said that, the merchant turned his head and said, "I'll take you to visit here?"

"Then, Lord Paladin, please take a rest first." Pastor Kappa said respectfully: "I will come again in the afternoon, and I will take you to Mount Azrant when the time comes."

Grey nodded silently.

"Gray, I think you'd better be wary of it. That guy obviously has no good intentions. It's okay if the Silver Moon Knights are stationed at the foot of the mountain. You are stationed at the foot of the mountain? This is simply a humiliation."

"What do you think he wants to do?"

"I don't know either. Maybe he just wants to reduce your contact with other cardinals. After all, he has a grudge against us."

"Maybe it might be just that other cardinals don't want to contact you?" Vivian interrupted, "I received news that the Cardinals have bad views on Gray, almost unanimously. There are only a few who have good views on Gray. And they are all far away from the center of ecclesiastical power."

"Where did you get the news?" asked the black cat.

"The abyss gave me."

"Can you believe your news?"

"Don't you believe me?"

"No, I believe in you, I just don't believe in the abyss."

Grey listened quietly, without saying a word. The merchant Spie had already taken Grey around the entire floor, and at the end, he came to two children who looked only in their teens.

My daughter's face is full of freckles, so is her son, and her figure looks very similar to his father, so she is fat.

"Sir Paladin, I have a small request. I hope my daughter can marry a knight next to you. Of course, I know she is not pretty, but I am willing to give a high dowry. Please believe in my financial resources. And my son, maybe he can become a entourage to your knight next to you. This will be a great honor for our family."

Grey looked at him quietly.

Spie was stunned for a moment, sweating down, and hurriedly said, "Of course, this is a request, not a condition. You can think about it slowly, and don't worry."

After thinking about it, Gray whispered: "In terms of marriage, our knights do not need to marry for the time being. I will seriously consider the words of the entourage."

"Thank you! Thank you Lord Paladin!" Spie hurriedly pressed the heads of his two children to salute Gray.

...

Pastor Kappa got off his horse and walked into a not-so-large house with a small step.

"Sir Levi, Paladin Gray has settled."

"Oh, did he say anything?" Li Wei was leaning against the back of the chair and reading a book.

"It seems like there is a little complaint, but nothing is said." Pastor Kappa said.

"I got it, you go down."

"yes."

"Why do you have to do this?" said the bearded paladin next to him: "Although he has... an unpleasant past with us, we cannot shake him for the time being. He has almost mastered the entire South, and we cannot really tear him apart. Even if he tear him apart, he is far superior to us in terms of force. Where did that kind of power come from..."

"You said that, I'm reminding me." Li Wei took a deep breath, put down the book in his hand, and said, "Those bishops in the south have changed two rounds, right? The current ones should have a good relationship with Gray. They also have the right to vote. We should give each of them a copy of "The Lich Paladin".

"Is it necessary? The Paladin Lich is the top secret of the Cardinal. The bishops in the south do not know, but how many votes are they in total? Seventeen votes. With Gray, there are only nineteen votes. There are sixty-eight votes in total. Even if he runs for election, it is still very far away. I don't understand why you are struggling with this matter."

"Because nothing more important than this." Levi said expressionlessly: "As long as he cannot be elected as a pope, the new pope will not protect him like the old pope. And he is a lich, and as long as his identity is revealed, he will be finished. He will become the second Abolsard."

"Is this why you didn't arrange him on the mountain? You don't give him a chance to canvass vote."

"Yes. I wish he would never see other voters except when voting." Li Wei spread his hands and said, "Of course, I know this is impossible. He will go up the mountain this afternoon. However, as long as he does not live directly on the mountain, what he can do will be limited."

"This is a solution." The bearded paladin picked up the cup and greeted Li Wei from afar: "As long as we survive this period, everything will be in control."
