Chapter 33: Mortgage(2/2)

A voice came, and he was so scared that he covered the bread tightly.

Turning back, he saw a ragged, barefoot child looking at him with his eyes wide open.

"Brother, I'm so hungry..."

Helplessly, the author had to look around for a while, drag the child into an alley, find a place where no one was around, and divide a small piece of bread for him.

The child squatted in the corner and started eating voraciously, asking, "Brother, what are you doing?"

The author stood quietly against the door beside him, looking blankly at the falling raindrops in the sky.

“Written.”

"A writer?"

"No, the poor author."

In just a while, the child had finished eating the bread, wiped his mouth, looked at him with a beacon, and asked, "Can I ask you for something tomorrow?"

"No." The author shook his head: "After eating this bread, I will be hungry just like you. There is nothing to give you."

"Why? Are you not the author?"

"Because my manuscript has not been sold...well, it's useless even if it's sold. Ten silver coins per loaf of bread... I can't eat the manuscript fee for long."

"Is it because I didn't sell it? Is it because I was not well written?"

"No. Very well written, I think this is probably the best book I have written. Very good."

"Then why didn't it be sold?"

"Because the editor-in-chief is blind. If this book is published, many people will definitely like it and make a lot of money. But he just refused to accept it and wasted my efforts."

"Then why don't you publish it yourself?"

"Publish it yourself?" The author was stunned.

"Can't you publish it yourself?" the child asked.

"Uh... it seems, yes." Thinking of it, the author suddenly became excited: "Yes, why don't I publish it myself? In this way, I won't only earn the royalties! Hahaha, thank you! Thank you!"

The excited Mr. Author picked up the child, kissed him heavily on the forehead, and then wrapped his clothes in his baby's manuscript and ran away in the rain. Halfway through, he turned his head and pointed at the child and said, "If you make a lot of money, I'll come back to treat you to bread!"

"Okay! I'll wait for you!" the child replied happily.

...

About an hour later, the author appeared in the office of the editor-in-chief Xiaomao and reshooted his house book on the editor-in-chief's desktop.

"I use my house as mortgage and I pay for it myself!"

"The house is not very valuable now." The editor-in-chief picked up the house book in a sceptical way and flipped it out. After thinking about it, he smiled and said, "However, it is still okay to publish a book. If you make money, you will get 80% of it, and I will get 20% of it. If you lose money, I will not be responsible for it. You will bear it all by yourself. How about it?"

"make a deal!"
