Chapter 28: Grey Paladin(1/2)

Another afternoon.

The sun shines obliquely on the town of Buck.

The streets were as before, with soldiers standing there, and there were almost no pedestrians. The difference from the night was that the fire in the brazier was extinguished with sunlight.

The residents hid in the room and peeked carefully.

Shelley was still sitting on the balcony, looking at the long street, like a puppet, motionless.

A maid pushed the door and walked into her room, went to the balcony, and watered the two pots of flowers placed on the fence. Until she left, Shelley didn't communicate with her at all, even without a look. She just sat quietly, except for occasionally blinking her eyes, and could no longer see any unnecessary movements.

In just one month, that face looked so haggard that it was heartbreaking.

She was ordered to sit here so that Gray could see her as soon as she entered the city. So that the four guardian angels lurking everywhere could discover Gray's location as soon as possible.

And Li Wei sat on the balcony next to her.

More than a month has passed, and rumors of Gray's death are circulating everywhere on the mainland. But Li Wei knew that Gray was not dead and he was still alive. Moreover, he would definitely return here at some time.

For this reason, he had to guard Shelley here every day.

However, human energy is limited after all. In this state of tension for a long time, it will be tired, slack, and dozing off. Although there are four guardian angels, Gray's guardian angel Catherine has been locked in the dungeon, and Levi has long believed that even if Gray arrives, it will not pose any threat. However, the Cardinal does not allow him to make any mistakes in this matter, or anything.

This bad situation made him, who was always calm, feel a little irritated, but he had to force himself to hold on and put up his usual iconic smiles so that others would not see tiredness on his face, and then his subordinates would become even more slackened.

...

In the dungeon, another fly buzzed and fell on Andrew's forehead. A pair happened to be gathered together. Tears from the corner of Andrew's eyes slowly slid down.

Katherine was trapped in the magic circle and curled up slightly.

...

"Sir Li Wei, are you here?" A knock on the door came from outside.

"Come in." Li Wei, who was sitting on the balcony, almost dozing off, suddenly woke up.

The door gently pushed open and a clergyman came in.

"Lord Li Wei, there is a letter from the north."

The clergyman came to the balcony and handed a letter to Li Wei with both hands.

After taking the letter, Li Wei cut the envelope with the letter-opening knife on the table next to him and looked carefully. Half of it, he was already smiling. He waved his hand to the clergy on the side, signaling that he could go out, and turned his head to Shelley on the other balcony and said, "Are you guess what is written in this letter?"

Shelley didn't answer, even as if she had heard nothing.

The clergy who had already left the door gently closed the door.

Holding the letter, Levi said softly: "Last night, Lu Sin V's cavalry team successfully intercepted the fleeing team of Gene II and captured the father and daughter of Gene II. Actually, I opposed Lu Sin V's pursuit of Gene II at this time. After all, that matter was too irrelevant. But this old guy was anxious and quietly sent the cavalry team to chase him. Gene II was also unlucky, and he just hit him in a cavalry team."

Shelley sat quietly, looking at the street from afar, and had almost no movement except for a light blink.

"Lu Sien V wants to give me the daughter of Gene II. After all, he violated my order and attacked privately. He probably wanted to please me." Li Wei casually kneaded the letter into a ball, threw it into the trash can on the side, and smiled: "What do you think I should treat this woman?"

"Marry her?" Shelley suddenly spoke.

Suddenly, Li Wei smiled, took a deep breath, and said, "Do you want me to marry her?"

Shelley blinked his eyes lightly and asked, "Isn't it good? A stunning beauty."

"The Paladin's engagement is an extremely serious matter. It even affects the strategy of the entire Holy See. How could I marry the daughter of a defeated duke?" Li Wei said expressionlessly: "Only yours can be so unscrupulous. To be honest, I really don't understand. His ambition is clearly very large, and he dares to fight against the entire Holy See and attack the four guardian angels. However, he chose you, the granddaughter of a little earl. Your father is not even the count. Don't you think it's ridiculous?"

Shelley stopped talking again.

Li Wei still said enthusiastically: "I think even in another hundred years, Gray will be a subject of the Cardinal research. But I am sure they can't study anything. What can a crazy Paladin have to study? Ambitious but not profit-oriented, this behavior will inevitably fail. Suddenly, two new prisoners of war were added. What should I use to do? Having put Camilla and you here to attract Gray? This seems a bit redundant. I heard that Gray had met her several times, and when the war started, she also advocated support Gray. Gene II also wanted to marry her to Gray. Maybe I should hang her up and hang her at the entrance of the town."

Touching his chin for a moment, Li Wei said to himself: "Do you think it's better to hang you at the entrance or to hang her at the entrance? There is no doubt that it will be easier here, but if it's hanged at the entrance, you will see Gray before her. If Gray really comes."

Shelley didn't answer, just sat quietly, motionless.

...

In the hut in the distance, Jones and Dora, who had already put on their armor, were lying in front of the window, looking at them from afar with a telescope I got from somewhere.

"This guy named Li Wei is so bullshit."

"Did he say something?"

"Who knows what he said? I saw that Shelley didn't want to talk to him anymore. He kept talking nonstop. He wouldn't have cramps when he said so many things all day long? If he fell into my hand one day, I would definitely sew his mouth up!" Jones said angrily.

...

Li Wei sighed long and said, "I'm so bored that I have to find something to do. Why not do this? I'll hang you up for a day today so that you can feel it well. Then you tell me your choice, whether you would like to see your Paladin earlier, or to sit here with a more comfortable feeling."

Shelley's expression was slightly stunned. She slowly turned her face and looked at Levi.

Li Wei smiled and looked at her.

...

"Damn it! What does this guy want to do?" Jones, holding the single-hole telescope, widened his eyes, as he saw Shelley being taken out of the mansion and taken all the way to the entrance to the east of Buck town. Then, Levi ordered someone to erect a tall piece of wood, and put pulleys on it, tie Shelley, and then several soldiers held the other end of the rope.

"Is he crazy? Gray will tear him..." Dora whispered.

...

"One, two, three! One, two, three!"

Under the pull of the soldier, Shelley was hung on a pillar that was ten meters high. She lowered her head, and her long golden hair poured down, covering her face. She didn't move or struggle, as if she was dead.

"Hahahaha." The soldiers below began to burst into laughter.

"Sir Paladin." said a sturdy soldier with a big beard and a mole the size of a fly on his nose: "It's a pity to be so pretty and tossing."

"Beautiful?" Li Wei asked.

"Of course, very beautiful!"

"How about marrying you?"

"Uh..." The soldiers around were stunned. For a moment, they couldn't tell whether Li Wei was joking or serious.

Li Wei asked loudly, "How about it? Marry him! As long as you agree, I will put you down! Your beautiful face is better to give it to this brave soldier than to wither in the sun, right? Do you think so?"

"Yes! Yes! Lord Paladin is right!" The soldier was overjoyed.

"No! Lord Paladin! He is not brave enough, I am the bravest!"

"No, no, no, I am the bravest! Lord Paladin, marry her to me!"

The soldiers all began to push and cheer each other.

"How about it? So many soldiers are willing to be your husband, do you still look very popular? Or do you marry all of them at the same time?"

A little crystal flashed in front of Li Wei's eyes.

Li Wei reached out and found a drop of liquid falling on his hand. He took it to his nose and smelled it. He raised his head and said, "Cry? I thought you wouldn't cry anymore."

Shelley lowered her head, her long hair covered her face, and no one could see her expression clearly. Tears fell down, but there was no sound of crying.

"Grey...where are you..."

"What did you say? I didn't hear it! Say it again!"

"Grey..."

"Speak loudly! Let everyone hear that you are summoning your lover, but he does not appear! Paladin Gray is a coward!"

"Grey..." Shelley murmured in a low voice, slowly raised his head with difficulty, and looked to the east. In a hazy way, she saw a dark gray figure riding a horse from afar on the horizon in the east, slowly coming towards here.

...

Catherine slowly raised her head, her eyes filled with confusion.

The painful expression on Andrew's face gradually disappeared, turning into a kind of dullness and a kind of surprise.

...

Dora quickly pulled Jones: "Look at this!"

“Which side?”

"There!"

...

The guardian angels scattered everywhere in the town and three other paladins all opened their eyes wide.

The people who were huddled at home and dared not go out all stretched their heads out through the window.

...

A soldier rode a fast horse to Li Wei and hurriedly dismounted.

"Sir Paladin! A knight is here!"

With his back to the soldier, Li Wei asked softly: "Is it Gray?"

"I don't know, the armor is different!"

After hesitating for a moment, Li Wei whistled, and his war horse immediately ran over from a distance.
