Chapter 119 Gandalf Returns

Every day that followed was very long and depressing for Bilbo. The dwarves spent most of their time sorting and digging for treasures.

Thorin kept talking about his family heirloom, the Arken Stone. He still did not give up looking for that stone, the symbol of the highest power of the dwarves.

They acted as if the elves and human armies surrounding the Lonely Mountain did not exist at this time. There were teams of elves patrolling the outside of the Lonely Mountain every day, and they would not let go of any possibility of letting the dwarves escape.

.

Until one day, another army of elves arrived. They went up the frozen river valley, and then entered the valley city.

That team was the Rivendell army led by Gao Yuan. He fulfilled his promise to Bard and escorted the old, weak, women, children, and wounded people from Long Lake Town to Riverdale City safely.

The reputation of the dragon slayer is indeed very useful, but it is not really that useful in front of humans and the elves of the Woodland Kingdom. Although he still has the Rivendell army of elves brought by Arwen in his hands, but he

It will not be used as a bargaining chip to threaten the coalition forces.

Helping Bard escort the residents of Long Lake Town, and then they reached River Valley City in one step, which was regarded as a step forward for Bard.

Because Rivendell's team arrived at Riverdale City during the day, Bilbo could see very clearly that the flag of Rivendell was still flying in this team.

He could even clearly see Gao Yuan and Yawen riding on the same white horse.

"Mr. Gao Yuan and the others have also arrived in Riverdale City. I hope this will give some room to ease the tense situation." Bilbo looked at Thorin, who looked solemn.

Thorin didn't seem excited about the arrival of Gao Yuan and others. His face still had the same expression as when he declared war with the elf messenger that day.

"Don't expect those elves in Rivendell to help us fight against their compatriots."

"Don't forget, they are standing with our enemies at this time. They may not be our enemies, but they will definitely not help us." Thorin shook his head.

Bilbo almost exploded with anger when he heard this. He simply couldn't imagine what was going on in Thorin's head right now.

Raven Roark brought new news to Thorin: Dain and the two thousand dwarf soldiers he led had rushed from the Iron Hills to the Lonely Mountain day and night. The team was now northeast of the Lonely Mountain, far away from the River Run Valley.

It's only about two days' journey.

"However, at this time, the entire south side of Gushan has been surrounded by elves and human armies. It is difficult for them to cross the branch on the left without anyone noticing." Rock analyzed the current situation to Thorin.

"I'm worried that they will have a big battle with the coalition forces in the valley, but that's meaningless. Although they are brave and good at fighting, they can't break through the coalition forces' encirclement and save you. Even if they reach the gate of Gushan

, you will still be trapped by the coalition forces."

"In the next time, Gushan will be even colder. The supplies in Gushan are not enough to sustain you for a long time. What are your plans?" Rock and his kin are indeed very powerful. The situation in Gushan is

The situation is now all under their control.

Thorin remained unmoved by Roark's worries and warnings. "Winter and snow will also affect humans and elves."

"They will find that they are in the wilderness and they are more difficult to withstand the extreme weather of the isolated mountains than we are."

"Now they are no longer surrounding us, but me and my reinforcements are surrounding the coalition forces. My brother Dain will block the supply lines of those coalition forces."

"Under the double attack of my reinforcements and Winter, I believe they will soon surrender to us at the negotiation table."

Thorin finally revealed all his plans at this moment, and it turned out that this was the reason why he had always been confident.

As for why he said it now, it was because he had already noticed that the dwarves in the Lonely Mountain were already panicking.

The dwarves are in urgent need of a reassurance to stabilize their military morale.

However, Bilbo was still not very optimistic about Thorin's plan, and he was unwilling to see the scene that Thorin said come true, because there were not only the elves and human soldiers of the Woodland Kingdom in Riverdale City at the moment.

There are still large armies from Rivendell in Riverdale City, as well as ordinary civilians from Lake Town. The supply line of the coalition forces has been cut off, so what should the elves of Rivendell and those civilians do?

In the evening, Gao Yuan and Yawen had already settled the army brought by Rivendell. According to Gao Yuan's instructions, he arranged for these elven armies to be stationed at various locations on the walls of River Valley City.

He successfully persuaded Thranduil to let these elven soldiers from Rivendell patrol together with the elves in the woodland and build defenses independently.

However, they will not participate in the battle between the coalition forces and the dwarves. They will simply defend the residents of Changhu Town.

This selfless act of Gao Yuan moved Bard quite a bit, and said that the elves of Rivendell and Gao Yuan will always be friends of mankind in Long Lake Town.

Just when Gao Yuan wanted to spend some time with Yawen in the warm tent, the arrival of two uninvited guests broke the original charming atmosphere in the tent.

An old man wearing a gray shabby robe and a pointed wizard's hat appeared in front of the tent. If Gao Yuan hadn't known the old man, he would have thought a beggar had appeared in front of him.

"Gandalf!" Gao Yuan shouted in surprise. He quickly pulled his hands out of Yawen's waist, and Yawen adjusted her robe with a red face.

"Mr. Gao Yuan, it seems that I came at the wrong time." A strange smile appeared on Gandalf's face, which was dusty.

Gao Yuan laughed: "Indeed, it would be better if you came later."

The atmosphere at the scene was very awkward for a time.

"Let's not talk about that. I haven't seen you for a long time, Gandalf. How come you look like this?" Gao Yuan looked at Gandalf strangely. He was all dirty at this time.

Gandalf let out a long sigh, and then told about his experience with Elrond, Galadriel and Saruman in Dol Guldur. He also emphasized the army of Orcs heading from Dol Guldur to the Lonely Mountain.

There is also news about the disappeared Witch King of Angmar.

Gao Yuan smiled and shook his head, saying that he already knew all this. Thinking that Gandalf still didn't know about his experience with the expedition team, he took Gandalf and others and sat in front of the bonfire in the tent to talk about it.

Let’s talk about their adventures.

Yawen sat next to Gao Yuan, leaning on his shoulders; opposite them sat Gandalf, and Lindir who came with him.

The four of them sat around the campfire and listened quietly to Gao Yuan's account of how he and the dwarf expedition arrived at the foot of the Lonely Mountain along the way, the various difficulties and tribulations they encountered, and how they averted danger.

Quite a few of these stories were deliberately ignored by Gao Yuan, such as the Supreme Lord of the Rings in Bilbo's hand and how he triggered earthquakes in the Misty Mountains.

The story is very long, and Gao Yuan starts from Rivendell: encountering a battle with a stone giant, being trapped in the orc town, escaping from the misty mountains, fighting in the forest with orcs and goblins, and the help of the big eagle.

We don't know each other until we fight Beorn, the giant spiders, orcs and ring spirits in the jungle attack the woodland kingdom, we fight the dragon in the lonely mountain, and we dance with the dragon in the sky above Long Lake Town.

Until he talked about how he killed Smaug, Gao Yuan had been talking for more than three hours. For the three people who had not experienced all this, it was difficult to imagine what a thrilling adventure they had experienced.

Any one of these adventure experiences is enough to make ordinary people proud of it for a lifetime, and it is inevitable that the three people here will be amazed by it.

When Gandalf heard the end of the story, he couldn't help but smile bitterly: "It seems that compared to the adventures of you and the expedition team, Gao Yuan, the experience of me and the White Council in Dol Guldur seems so insignificant."

"It was my request to Lady Galadriel, asking you to help these homeless dwarves, but I did not provide you with any help. As the initiator of this expedition, I seem to be too incompetent.
