349. They have all become followers of Chen Ya, right?(1/2)
…
After several days of traveling that could be described as a wandering journey, Qin Sulan finally returned to her glorious Beichen Company.
Her trip this time was more stressful than a war, and it was not the kind of trip that everyone imagined as a leisurely holiday.
For seven days in a row, I was busy taking photos, driving, writing, and painting at high intensity, and slept for an average of less than 4 hours every night.
On the day she got off the plane, she still had 10,000 words to write in her customs journal. As soon as she got off the plane, she rushed home to make up for it.
When her mother and best friend called her, she cried as soon as the call was connected.
This trip was so tiring, so tiring that I couldn’t even describe it.
Crying and crying, hard work is still necessary. These are "homework" personally prescribed by the company's Mr. Chen. If she does not complete them, she is very worried about her impression in Mr. Chen's mind.
Last time, after finishing the two mini-games "Sheep Makes a Sheep" and "Synthesize Watermelon", she easily distributed hundreds of thousands in dividends, which was envied by her best friend.
She also realized a problem through the last dividend: maybe I can also become a high-income earner.
After working so hard this time, when the project comes out, it wouldn’t be too much to receive a bonus of hundreds of thousands, right?
And this time she went out to study, she really felt that her strength had soared.
She didn’t quite understand Mr. Chen’s decision at first:
If you want to create a game style of Western-style architecture and natural geographical scenery, you can just draw it based on photos. Why go to on-site inspections?
Nowadays, we have aerial photography and street scenes, so why can’t we draw them?
Why waste money on yourself? (And it costs a lot.)
It wasn't until she returned home after the trip that she realized that Mr. Chen's decision was correct.
There is definitely a difference between painting based on photos and painting based on real objects.
The difference lies in that little bit of "reality".
The game currently developed by the company is a two-dimensional fantasy-style game, and the first map has a European background.
There are many Western-style fantasy-style games on the market, but mobile games in the two-dimensional category cannot be said to be rare, but only unique.
Games in Europe and the United States tend to be more cold-hearted. For example, "Diablo" and "Monster World" are so cold-hearted that they are almost realistic.
Sheep heads, devil horns, tentacles... This art style has its own shock.
But the problem is that it doesn’t quite fit the aesthetics of most East Asians.
Qin Sulan herself is also a homebody. She has never liked the cold and hard art style.
If possible, she prefers pretty girls and gentle boys.
If you put a two-dimensional beautiful girl against the background of that cold and hard art style, it would definitely be nondescript.
If you want to create a two-dimensional open world well, there are almost no styles on the market that you can refer to, so you must be original.
Before Qin Sulan left, Chen Ya assigned several tasks to her, including observing and comparing prototypes of cathedrals and castles at close range.
The design of towns and churches in the game must be based on reality.
Designing against reality will definitely give you a more "realistic" feeling than designing against someone else's drawings or photos.
Just for this sense of "realism", Mr. Chen fully reimbursed all the expenses for Qin Sulan's overseas trip.
Qin Sulan still admires him for his courage.
…
The next day, Qin Sulan came to the company with dark circles under her eyes. She found that the company was different from when she left.
When she left, the company had completed its evolution from "a sparse crowd" to a "popular crowd".
When she came back, she felt that the company had evolved into a "full of loyal people".
When I was working before, my colleagues were more or less relaxed and had time to chat.
But now no one even took the snacks in the rest area. Everyone seemed to owe 30 million in foreign debt, and they wished that none of them could even touch the ground.
"How do you fill out the demand form? Who can understand it? You have to describe it in language that others can understand. Isn't this the most basic thing?"
"If we use Notis mythology, will Liyue also use it?..."
"This code is just a mess...who wrote it? Oh, Brother Dong wrote it, that's okay. It's very well written."
... Qin Sulan walked between the workstations, listening to these conversations, and for a moment she felt like she was in another world.
"Sister Lan, you are finally back!"
A young girl waved hello to her desperately.
This girl's name is Xu Lilong. She is an employee who joined her in the same batch. She has the same "seniority" as her. However, she has less experience in painting, so she was always around her before.
"Sister Lan, I miss you so much!" The girl looked at Qin Sulan with watery eyes and almost shed tears.
"What's wrong?" Qin Sulan said a little surprised, and sat down with her bag, "I've only been away for seven days."
"Do you know how I spent these seven days?"
The girl pulled Qin Sulan and opened a folder on her computer.
A large pile of drafts appeared before her eyes.
"In the past few days since you left, the company has been as deep as the sea. Everyone has been crazy busy! I have been drawing pictures these days, and my family thought I was missing..."
Qin Sulan frowned slightly and said, "Wouldn't it mean that everything is messed up at work?"
"That's not true." The girl said, "I'm a bit busy, but actually it went pretty smoothly."
Qin Sulan slid the mouse, and character settings, line drawings, and models jumped in front of her eyes, which made her dizzy.
"So many!" Qin Sulan couldn't help shouting in a low voice.
Xu Lilong nodded proudly: "Really? I painted them all in the past few days, but they kept everyone busy."
Qin Sulan suddenly had a sense of crisis: In the past few days since she was abroad, her colleagues at home have also been idle. She feels that the work they do seems to be more valuable than hers??
Qin Sulan slid the mouse and asked carefully: "Are these all designed by you in the past few days? From the settings to the line drawings, were you all drawn on the spot?"
She asked this because the characters on the screen were very detailed.
Generally speaking, the more detailed the setting, the clearer the idea, the more perfect it is, and the closer it is to finalization.
This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading! Because character design is not as simple as just drawing a good-looking girl and modeling it accordingly.
The character design starts from the character setting to the color matching of the main body, hair color, clothing, and decoration.
For example, before Qin Sulan went abroad, her art team was designing a character called "Hu Tao".
This role was born in the copywriting team and was a request from them.
According to the needs of the plot, they need a role of "the proprietress of the funeral parlor" (I don't know who the devil came up with it).
At the same time, this character must have a national style, but not too much.
You need to look serious and serious, but at the same time, you need to be lively and out-of-the-box.
The most important thing is to design it in a sexy and cute way.
These needs are as incomprehensible as the colorful black.
But it’s not impossible to design.
Because of the seriousness of the profession, the overall color of the character is black.
Pure black will definitely not work. In order to look better, the classic red combination is used to dilute the overall rigidity of the character.
The character's eye color can be designed to be black with peach blossom eyes. This design can generally highlight the liveliness of the character.
At the same time, it is designed to be flat-chested, which can strengthen the attribute of "lively and optimistic".
When designing, modeling should also be considered.
Since the game style is two-dimensional and the engine is developed at the same time, if there is a large blank space on the character's clothes, it will be rendered into a smooth iron plate, which looks very ugly.
Therefore, when designing a character, there cannot be any blank space on the clothes, and a bunch of patterns must be placed to increase the three-dimensional effect.
For the decoration of "Hutao"'s clothes, we decided to use the four gentlemen of flowers "plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum" as prototypes.
On the one hand, this can add a sense of national style, on the other hand, it also fits her setting of "funeral parlor owner".
It sounds simple, but in fact, when designing a character, every detail must be carefully polished and finalized repeatedly.
It often takes an extremely long time to design a character from the first draft to the final draft, with repeated attempts to see.
The several drafts now placed in front of Qin Sulan are very detailed, so detailed that they can be used on the spot.
So Qin Sulan was very surprised.
"I don't believe it," Qin Sulan shook her head, "I've only been away for seven days. How did you design so many characters in just a few days? Is the company hiring again?"
Xu Lilong smiled "hehe" and said, "No, actually, the designs of these characters were finalized by Mr. Chen together with us."
"Mr. Chen?" Qin Sulan tilted her head and asked, "Does he still know how to design characters?"
"Yeah." Xu Lilong nodded solemnly, "He shocked me at that time."
