Chapter 100 Martial Law in Luoyang

Four cavalry were galloping, Liu Cang and the Yue cavalryman named Zhang Tao were riding one and two. The sky was golden with wings spread, and the two of them headed straight for Luoyang.

Zhang Feng asked Liu Cang to help lead the army. In the past two days, Zhang Xiu Niang happened to return to her parents' home to accompany Zhang Feng. Seeing the Yellow Turban riot, Liu Cang was about to rush to Luoyang.

After explaining the trivial matters of Luyuan and assigning defense tasks, Liu Cang returned to Luoyang with Zhang Tao.

The Yellow Turban Rebellion was brewing, but it broke out suddenly. Luoyang was still a hundred miles away from Luyuan. In order to ensure the speed of the horse, Liu Cang brought two more horses and rode with Zhang Tao.

Luoyang is not an isolated city, or in other words, most cities now have some common people's villages around them. Compared with other areas, the number of Xiongnu villages in the area from Luoyang to Chang'an is much denser than in other areas.

Liu Cang came from the north and saw fighting in several villages along the way, and some villages were massacring their own villagers.

Even if the Yellow Turbans are found in Han villages, they will mainly arrest and detain them, and those who wield the butcher's knife are often from Xiongnu villages.

There are those who cry out, there are those who beg for mercy, there are those who curse, there are also those who cry.

It is not difficult to find from some scattered remarks that some Xiongnu villages were indeed unaware of the Yellow Turban riots, while some villages may have ignored the matter and directly killed some serfs to clear their relationship with the Yellow Turbans.

"Is this the case in Luoyang too?" Liu Cang asked Zhang Tao as he galloped past the outskirts of a village, ignoring the sounds of fighting.

"Yesterday, Luoyang was under martial law and a peace notice was issued. However, when I left Luoyang, the infantry battalion left the city, and the elite Changshui battalion was also ordered to suppress bandits along the Chang'an line, including the suburbs of Luoyang, and probably killed ten thousand Yellow Turbans."

"Ninety percent of them are from the villages and towns of the bereaved people. There is no unrest in Luoyang city for the time being. Don't worry, sir. The foster father in Cai Gong's house has also sent troops to look after them."

Zhang Tao shouted back to Liu Cang while driving his horse.

In the Imperial City of Luoyang, chaos was dealt with with the power of thunder. The Yellow Turbans planned a rebellion and were unprepared to be suppressed. However, the Eastern Han Dynasty had been peaceful for hundreds of years. In such a short period of time, such a dense number of deaths was shocking.

These Xiongnu remnants have lived in the Han Dynasty for a long time. In the villages among the tribes, the powerful people transformed themselves into families but still lived a noble life. Most of them probably had no intention of rebellion.

However, the serfs under them were deprived of much of their land, had no land, no livestock, and were exploited for a long time. After being beaten for a long time, they inevitably risked their lives.

Zhang Tao was in great awe of Liu Cang. Even though Liu Cang had selected the Yueqi camp from soldiers to generals earlier, he was still Zhang Feng's adopted son.

Well, Zhang Feng was a bit unconventional in this regard. Zhang Feng was from a civilian background and had a naughty temper. When he lacked confidence in commanding the Yueqi camp, he simply took on eighteen names in the Yueqi camp.

Although the Vietnamese cavalry generals were elite, some of them were from the frontier army.

Under normal circumstances, the Forbidden Army was the end of their lives. Faced with the olive branch extended by Zhang Feng, Zhang Feng promoted his adopted sons to help him manage Yueqi affairs.

Of these so-called eighteen fake ones, there are now only sixteen left.

Because at first there were still people who wanted to assassinate Liu Cang as relatives, but after Liu Cang accidentally killed two people, these people completely calmed down. In many cases, Liu Cang's words were more effective than Zhang Feng's with them.

Liu Cang didn't like this group of people, but who let Zhang Feng mess around? Taking Zhang Feng's face into consideration, after these people settled down, Liu Cang's attitude towards them was more easygoing than that of outsiders, and these people were also used to treating them as young masters.

Call him Liu Cang.

They went straight to Luoyang. In less than an hour, Liu Cang and Zhang Tao rushed to the gate of Luoyang's outer city.

North Pianmen, where Zhang Feng is located, is where Yueqi and Shesheng are stationed together.

Nowadays, the ban on Luoyang has not been lifted, but the city gate has been opened. When Liu Cang arrived, he could already see some young people riding horses and leading troops in and out of Luoyang.

"Look, Badger Liu." A young man of fifteen or sixteen years old was wearing light armor and had a long sword across his waist. He seemed to be too excited to hold back his voice. His greeting to his companions caught Liu Cang's eyes.

"Haha, don't blame Haoxuan. My brother is young and has no ill intentions." Beside the young man, a young man with a crown of hair looked at Liu Cang. He forced a smile and clasped his fists at Liu Cang.

"Nothing, brother, why are you here?" Liu Cang looked at the young man and saw that his eyes were blazing and showed no malice, so he returned the favor to the young man.

Liu Cang didn't know this young man, but judging from how he rode his horse and led his troops, he was obviously a son of an official.

Badger Liu, the new nickname given to Liu Cang by the boys in Luoyang is not as good as the original Badger Liu Haoxuan.

If the demolition of Wang Yun's family hadn't gained more than a hundred reputations, Liu Cangtuo would have wanted to find out who initiated the nickname first.

"The Yellow Turban rebels have caused a lot of nuisance to the people. I have been ordered to patrol the outskirts of the city to appease my brother. I have military affairs, so I'll say goodbye." The young man clasped his fists at Liu Cang, smiled, ordered the infantry, and left quickly.

Seeing the young man's evasive attitude, Zhang Tao beside Liu Cang twitched his lips and looked at Liu Cang with a very strange look.

"Young Master, this man is the son of Liu Biao of the clan, and that young man may be his younger brother." The young man walked away, and Zhang Tao approached Liu Cang and said.

"Huh? How are the kids in Luoyang lately?" Liu Cang frowned. Liu Biao was relieved. His kids also came to Luoyang to hang out. Coincidence? Or intentional?

"Well, there have indeed been many more children from aristocratic families in Luoyang recently." Zhang Tao nodded thoughtfully, while Liu Cang said nothing and rode into the city.

No one stopped him from entering the city. Now Liu Cang is very well-known in Luoyang. Many residents in the city may have never seen Liu Cang's appearance, but the soldiers guarding the city know Liu Cang to some extent.

There was no need for Yue Qi to explain, and the soldiers in front of the city gate did not stop Liu Cang. Badger Liu, who doesn't know that this guy is very good at demolishing people's mansions, so it's best not to offend him.

As soon as he entered the city, Liu Cang saw Zhang Feng running out of the city tower, followed by eight names.

Zhang Feng's face was full of joy when he saw Liu Cang. Liu Cang's brows jumped when he saw his demeanor.

"Haoxuan, you came just in time. I have the heavy responsibility of guarding the city. There is no one to control the parade in the city. You can stay with Zhang Tao and help me share the burden." When he came to Liu Cang, Zhang Feng restrained his joy and looked serious and upright.

, gave the order to Liu Cang.

"Here, where is Xiu Niang?" he replied lazily, hugging Zhang Feng's fists in response, and Liu Cang asked Zhang Feng again.

I went to the Cai Mansion and went to change into it." Zhang Feng snorted coldly, shook his sleeves and went up to the tower again.

Looking at Zhang Feng leaving, Liu Cang wanted to ask him, who told him that the tower was safe?

Zhang Feng left, and Liu Cang looked at Zhang Tao aside, a tall and thick man, scratching his head as if he was embarrassed.

"Sir, what should we do?" Zhang Tao asked Liu Cang.

"Promoted? Army Sima? You are more familiar with Yue Qi, so you can give orders." Liu Cang smiled at him.

"I don't dare." Zhang Tao shook his head. My uncle is very evil, so it's better to be careful.

"I'm not familiar with the Yueqi military system. You can make up your own mind. Don't make any mistakes. I'll go to the Cai Mansion to have a look." Liu Cang said again, and Zhang Tao nodded.

"If you want to ride a hundred men into a group, it would be better to send a group of soldiers to follow the young master. The Cai Mansion is on the main road, and you still need to trouble the young master to patrol there." Zhang Tao said to Liu Cang.

"Okay, what's your order in case of trouble?" Liu Cang asked.

"Three tunes gather the music, a short whistle gathers the troops, and a long whistle makes the camp fight. The young master does not need to worry, the commander of the camp will report." Zhang Tao said, blowing the iron whistle, and after a while, a group of Yueqi followed Liu Cang, and the group went straight to Cai Mansion.

.

There are few people wandering around in Luoyang City today. From time to time, there are groups of soldiers led by young junior students running around Chidao. Whenever they meet, they will show off their cards to Yueqi. They are all the children of officials, assisting Zhi Jinwu in maintaining order in Luoyang.

To maintain order, they probably took advantage of the opportunity to show their faces and gain fame. These young men who led the army were very arrogant when they first saw Yue Qi, but whenever they saw Liu Cang, they would mostly shrink to the side, give way to Chi, and be careful to avoid taboos.

On both sides of the road, there were many people leaning against doors and windows to watch the situation on the street. Liu Cang was very annoyed because he had to check those who led troops and wandered around.

Seeing that they were approaching Cai Mansion, two rows of ten heavy armored cavalry appeared on the galloping road. Their iron hooves stamped on the ground and their voices were deep and steady, which made Liu Cang concentrate slightly.

Liu Cang led the Yueqi team to give up the road for the first time, allowing the ten heavy cavalry to walk slowly past.

Horses and men are equipped with armor, with iron head coverings, horse armor, stirrups, saddles, and iron hooves. The three-piece cavalry set often referred to in later generations is now collectively referred to as horse gear. Usually only heavy cavalry with a higher load capacity will be equipped in a complete set.

(ps: To avoid random comments, let me explain that there were saddles in the Han Dynasty. Questioners can go and see the cavalry figurines of the Han Dynasty. As for why they are generally not used, we here tend to use naked riding in the Han Dynasty to increase combat effectiveness, which is the same as some armor production techniques.
