Chapter 108: Confession

Merry's words were mysterious. His proud expression seemed to have already seen everything and made Fro feel even more distressed.

"What do you mean?" Frodo looked at him nervously.

"Listen, dear Frodo, we've known for a long time that you want to leave Charles. The reason you're so entangled is because you don't know how to say goodbye to us. Am I right, old friend?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Frodo stood there in surprise.

It turned out that Merry had known early that he was leaving Charles in advance!

Suddenly hearing this amazing news, Frodo retracted his small body back into the back of the chair.

Seeing his helpless expression of surprise and guilt, the companions beside him laughed like children who had succeeded in the prank. For a moment, the whole hall was filled with laughter.

"Dear Frodo!" said Pipin. "Maybe you are not a qualified actor! Your acting skills may be able to deceive others, but you can't deceive us! Since April this year, we have noticed the abnormal behavior in your daily life. How can a person who is still preparing to move in Guern say goodbye to all his relatives and friends as if he wants to leave everyone?

Or, even if you say goodbye to your neighbors near Badou Pit, it is understandable that you still often mutter whether you can see us good friends again while we are not paying attention? It is your reluctance to your hometown, Badou Pit and your relatives and friends that make us realize that you may have to learn from the pace of Old Bilbo Baggins and run away from your hometown to take risks.

It was precisely because we realized this problem that we discovered the illusion that you pretended to spend all the wealth left to you by Bilbo. Despite this, none of us expected that you would sell your favorite pouch to the Sekville Baggins family! Such an abnormal thing, if you included the actions you often planned with Gandalf, all the answers would come out-you really want to leave Charles!"

"This is really incredible! How do you guess these?" Frodo said. "I always thought I was careful enough and secret enough. Oh my god, maybe I should have listened to Gandalf's persuasion to act more normally. However, I still have a problem. Since you have all guessed the news that I am leaving, what about the others? Does the entire Charles region know that I am leaving Charles?"

"Of course not! You don't need to worry about this," said Merry. "At present, I'm pretty sure that only a few people present know about Frodo's departure. After all, we've known you for so long and often play with you. Only then can we guess what you're thinking.

In other words, among the Hobbits in the entire Charles and the Buckland, we are only familiar with the personalities of you and Bilbo! Since the old Bilbo left Charles quietly for adventure without saying a word, we have been worried about you and have increased our attention to you. I think you will follow his footsteps sooner or later... and your abnormal behavior will deepen our worries.

We are afraid that you will disappear as mysteriously as him. The tradition of leaving without saying hello is too scary! Fortunately, it seems that you didn't choose to do that in the end!"

"Please don't try to keep me, dear friends. I have no choice but to leave Charles." Frodo said. "Although I am like you, I am reluctant to leave each other. But if you hear the reason why I have to leave Charles, you will definitely understand my difficulties. Since you know my personality so well, please do me one last favor--don't try to stop me!"

"Wait, Frodo, I think you seem to misunderstand what I meant by saying this." Pipin said. "Since you must leave, we will take a risk with you! Merry and I, when they discovered your move to leave, they unanimously decided to go with you.

There is no doubt that Sam is a loyal and reliable partner. But we all think that relying on Sam alone is not enough. You will need the strength of Meri and Me! Anyway, no matter what, this adventure must be faced with a few of us."

"My dearest and most considerate Hobbit friend," Frodo said with great emotion. "Please allow me to refuse your volunteering. A long time ago, I made up my mind not to let you be involved in this adventure with me. I heard from me that I don't think you can understand how dangerous this journey will be. This is not a task to find treasures, nor is it an easy adventure. In order to avoid the crisis, I have to invest in a greater crisis."

"Of course we understand," Merry said firmly. "That's why we decided to go with you. We know the Lord of the Rings can't be used as a joke, but we will definitely do our best to help you fight the Lord."

"The Lord of the Rings! How do you know about the Lord of the Rings?" When they heard that their friends even knew the existence of the Rings, the Frodos were stunned.

For a moment, he even wondered if his acting skills were really too clumsy as his friends said, and he didn't even do a confidential job of keeping the secret of the Lord of the Ring without even knowing it.

"Yes, Lord of the Rings," said Merry. "Frodo, you don't need to worry. The reason why we know the existence of Lord of the Rings is entirely due to the Hobbit's excessive curiosity and an accidental event. Speaking of which, long ago, when Bilbo was still in Charles, I had initially learned about the existence of Lord of the Rings. However, although I knew the secret at that time, since old Bilbo regarded it as a secret, I couldn't take the initiative to mention it. After all, it was not a very glorious thing to rashly explore other people's secrets.

Since then, I have not taken the news of the existence of the Lord of the Ring seriously for a long time. Until Bilbo left, Frodo, you behaved very abnormally, and then I took this accidental discovery from many years ago. Of course, I don't know much about Bilbo as much as you, the heir who was with him day and night. I was too young at that time, and he was more careful than you; but this still cannot stop my curiosity. If you want to know the story behind this, I am willing to share it with you."

"Of course, I just hope that the secret of the Lord of the Rings was not revealed by me. I am already wondering whether my disguise and acting skills are as clumsy as you said." Frodo completely put on the mask of pain and no longer had any hope for his acting skills.

"Oh, the secret of the Lord of the Rings has nothing to do with Frodo. I think you should be able to guess some of the introduction to that incident. It was the Sekville Baggins family who made Billbo expose the existence of the Rings. It happened to be about a year before the banquet. One day I happened to be walking on the road and I found Billbo was right in front of me.

Just as I was about to say hello to Bilbo, several members of the Sekville Baggins family suddenly appeared and walked towards us. When I saw the group of annoying guys, Bilbo stopped and the next second I watched him disappear out of thin air. Suddenly, such a drastic change occurred, I was so scared that I hid in the fence next to me that I didn't dare to move. It was not until the disgusting guys in the Seba family walked away that Bilbo's figure suddenly appeared out of thin air again. At that time, I saw him put a golden ring carefully in his pocket."

"That incident almost shocked me, and naturally I have been extremely curious about the mystery since then. In fact, I admit that I did sneak into it several times. Apart from Frodo, I guess I was probably the only person in Charles who has read the biography written by Old Bilbo himself."

"You have read even the biography written by Bilbo? I didn't even see the secret chapter he deliberately hid!" Frodo shouted. "My God, Merry, I don't know what to say about you now..."

"Well, I'm sorry for this. I think Frodo, as the heir to Bilbo, has done these mistakes that I have done without a doubt infringe on your right to know." Merry said. "But I just glanced in a hurry and there were many things I couldn't understand. I didn't see much about that secret biography. Unfortunately, I never saw it again after that. In your hands, Frodo?"

"No, the book on the list of things Bilbo left me. I think he would have taken away all the secret biography he wrote when he left."

"Okay, where did you just talk about it?" Merry continued. "Anyway, none of us expected that the mistakes I made out of my excessive curiosity as a child would have made a surprising effect not long ago. In order to figure out your detailed plan to leave Shire, we spent a lot of effort. Although you have poor acting skills, you can't talk about the relevant information and can't find any flaws, and you can't get any information from Gandalf. However, in the end, a warrior who investigated the information was found among us."

"Among you guys? Who are you?" Frodo looked around, and he couldn't find the person who matched Merry's depiction by his close friends.

"Please let me introduce it: Detective Sam!" said Merry. Sam stood up with a flushed face. "The reason why he could know the detailed information was all based on Sam! Although he was finally noticed by Gandalf, he undoubtedly performed perfectly in the process. The only drawback is that Sam has become taciturn since Gandalf told him in the bottom pit at that time, and he has never leaked any news to us since then."

"It's Sam!" Frodo felt a little frustrated and disappointed.

"Yes, sir!" said Sam. "Please forgive me, sir! Mr. Frodo, the reason why we tried our best to find out about the content of your plan and Gandalf was completely worried that you would leave Charles without saying hello. Perhaps Gandalf would have seen this. Otherwise, he would not have made me suddenly make a vow to embark on this adventure with you."

"But now, because of your past actions, I don't know if I should believe you again," Frodo said.

Sam looked at him in a state of depression.

"The key is what kind of friends you want." Merry interrupted. "You can always believe in the sincerity of our friends to you. You can also believe that we keep our mouths tight and will not leak the slightest bit of words like you. But you cannot think that we will let you face crisis alone and leave without leaving a word.

Frodo, you will always be our friend. It is because of this that we do not want you to embark on such a dangerous adventure alone. It is because we know too much about the Lord of the Rings that Gandalf told you and the rest of the hidden and horrible historical stories that we are not at ease with you. Although we are very scared, we still want to go with you. Even if you disagree, we must follow you."

"Anyway, sir," Sam added, "you should follow the elves' advice, too. Gildo suggests you walk with your friends, do you remember this advice?"

"Okay, you won." Frodo said to Sam who smiled. "You guys, it's really beyond my expectations. Sam, especially you, believe me, no matter whether you snore or not in the future, I won't believe you are asleep. Next time I have to kick you hard to confirm whether you are really awake!"

"You witty and brave good guys! Although you have deceived me in the past, you undoubtedly have done these actions out of kindness." He stood up and faced everyone. "May God bless you!" He stood up with a smile and waved his hand. "I agreed to your request. I am willing to follow Gildo's advice. He was right. I may not be able to reach the end of such a dangerous journey alone. Only my companions can support each other and move towards victory. Let us face it together for the next adventure!"

"This is really great. Although the process is a little twist, I am glad that everyone has finally gathered here to reunite and form this close team. Now, let us raise our wine glasses together and cheer for Kang's fearless Captain Frodo and the united great adventure team!"

I don’t know who started first, but everyone cheered and drank the wine in the glass together, and the fragrant wine filled the sky above the hall where everyone was.

Since then, the atmosphere has become extremely cheerful. Merry and Pipin have begun their singing and performances together. From their proficiency, it seems that the familiar ballad of the tune is almost a perfect work prepared in advance.

That was done by the Dwarf song that imitated Bilbo on his adventures, and the tune was so grand and exciting:

Farewell to home and hometown,

Through heavy rain and frost,

Let's sail before dawn,

Over the dense forests and hills.

Move forward, move forward, we will eventually dispel the darkness and usher in the dawn of victory!
