Chapter 101: The strange knight figure

I have to say that although Frodo didn't know how many months in advance, he made psychological construction for himself to leave his hometown.

However, when he really left Charles and spent almost half of his youth, Frodo felt a sense of emptiness.

No one knew how determined he made in the end this insignificant move.

In fact, except for the insider Tom, who had made up his mind to leave Charles with him and vowed to go out for adventure with him, the other good friends of Frodo who did not know the secret (including Pipin, who was by his side at this time) thought Frodo's recent sorrow was because he sold his beloved pouch pit.

Whether it is to protect himself, to fight against the Dark Demon Lord, the forge of the Ring and the real evil master of the Ring, or just simply not wanting his simple and kind friends to notice anything and worry about himself for nothing, Frodo could only remain in his heart's reluctance to leave home, and try to show the smile that a normal mover should have.

Yes! He should smile. Think about it, he is not destined to be alone in this trip.

In any case, Tom is accompanying him on an adventure journey! I just don’t know why Gandalf, who is elusive in his daily life, gives people omnipotence in his words and deeds, and understands everything.

You know, Gandalf, who has always kept his promises, will come on schedule after making a promise. Apart from this time, Frodo's memory has never seen him breach his contract!

I don't know if Gandalf had any trouble? As he said before, in the extreme darkness of the far south, there are evil creatures with orcs, sheepmen, etc., as well as depravity and darkness.

If Gandalf went alone, in Frodo's memory from childhood to adulthood, the gray-robed wizard has always been alone, and only a very small number would find a few like-minded righteous people to accompany him. In any case, Frodo firmly believed that Gandalf could overcome the difficulties and obstacles along the way.

Gandalf has done that all along, and his outstanding experience over the years has proved that he has really done it!

For the next three hours, Frodo thought about Gandalf's affairs all the way.

Perhaps Gandalf was too familiar with the Lord of the Rings and other information, which made the Hobbit, who had not yet figured out everything around him, unconsciously developed a dependence on the gray-robed wizard.

.....

It is not a bad thing to stop missing Gandalf. At least Frodo was surprised to find that as soon as he guessed what difficulties it was, delaying Gandalf's pace and preventing the wizard from meeting him as agreed, time passed quickly.

Almost closed my eyes and opened them, and three hours passed!

After rushing for so long, I was carrying a backpack with various heavy objects on my back. The tired Pipin and Tom shouted and asked for a rest.

Needless to say, Frodo, who was also exhausted, was making such a wish.

Therefore, the three of them hit it off and immediately chose a beautiful place nearby to sit down and rest.

As a hobbit who is good at enjoyment and pays great attention to the quality of life, Frodo took the lead in taking out the prepared supper from his backpack.

A piece of pre-made butter fried steak, two pieces of chopped marinated ham, and a small cup of grape wine filled with a small iron wine pot. This is the dinner for Frodo and the three of them tonight.

Although these are not many of these for the three hungry Hobbits, even this simple supper seems precious when it is destined to rely on eating and eating to supplement the road for just hours of rushing on the road with heavy objects on their backs.

After a meal, Frodo finally had some experience of adventure.

Unlike Pipin, an outsider who always thought they were just making up for this supper, Frodo knew clearly that perhaps the next adventure would be as described in the story of the Lone Mountain Expedition that Bilbo told him back then, full of suffering and challenges.

Frodo may not be able to eat a simple meal like every meal! Not to mention that after walking out of the safe area of Charles, there must be more terrifying and evil enemies waiting for him to face and fight.

After shook his head and expelled the distracting thoughts in his heart, Frodo hurriedly took his two good friends to climb a hill with a relatively high terrain to identify the stars in the sky.

With the stars in the sky, after comparing and confirming them together, Frodo also confirmed again that there was no problem with their direction.

Not far ahead, there is their goal today - a trail next to the ferry. After passing that trail, they can bypass the Green Hill and head to the east of the Charles.

After a while, they embarked on a road surrounded by tall trees.

Not surprisingly, the surroundings were quiet. In this lush forest, the three people who walked without turning on the torch could only slowly rush to the light of the stars.

In that darkness, Frodo side walked carefully and observed the direction of his two companions. He didn't want to repeat the tragic situation in which Bilbo was separated from his companions in the dark when he followed the dwarves to adventure.

Fortunately, Pipin and Tom are both close to him and have not lost the team at all.

Just when Frodo was glad that his two companions were reliable, he heard Pipin behind him suddenly hear it. Perhaps there was a pile of fallen leaves where Pipin stopped. In the silent forest night, the sound of Kara falling leaves suddenly trampled and made a sound. Tom, who was walking in front, turned around in horror to see what happened to Pipin behind the team.

Just as Frodo instinctively attributed Pipin's abnormality to whether he discovered the wild wolf wandering and hunting in the forest at night, and other difficult-to-treat hunters, Pipin stood carelessly and yawned.

"I'm sleepy, and I can't even stand straight if I don't sleep." He said, "Can I ask first? Do you want to sleep while standing? It's almost midnight."

"I'm scared, Pipin. Please, before you stop suddenly, can you say hello to us first?" Frodo complained angrily. "As for rest, we need to find a suitable place first. Before we set off, we agreed to Merry to come the day after tomorrow, so we still have two days to go, so there is still plenty of time."

"Western winds are often blowing here," said Sam. "If we can go to the other side of the hill, we should be able to find comfortable and sheltered flat ground, sir. If I remember correctly, there will be some firewood in front of us." Sam knew the situation in the twenty-mile radius of the Shire area. As long as we are still in the Shire area, he would definitely be right.

As soon as they crossed the hill, they found a pile of firewood. The three left the road and walked to a flat ground surrounded by darkness with a strong smell of woods. They collected some pine needles and dead trees, and soon a bright and fiery bonfire rose under a big tree.

After sitting by the campfire for a while, the distressed people immediately prepared to go to bed.

Then, everyone found a corner with a comfortable trunk to lean down, wrapped the blanket and clothes and fell asleep quickly.

They did not send anyone to watch, and even Frodo was not worried, because they were still in the core area of Charles. The peace in Charles has long penetrated into the hearts of every Hobbit.

The pale and sticky morning came again. Frodo woke up first, and then he quickly woke up his two sleeping companions.

After confirming that the two companions were awake and woke up, Frodo patroled around as usual to check for dangers that might be hidden in the dark.

When he came back, Sam and Pipin had already raised a scorching flame.

"Water!" Pipin shouted. "Who are you preparing water?"

"It's not up to me. I've finished all the wine in my wine jug," Frodo said.

"I thought you went to find water!" Pipin was busy setting up food and cups. "For the sake of the food, we can't even eat breakfast without water."

"Okay, I'll go now," Frodo said.

There was a stream at the foot of the mountain, and it was there that Frodo happily filled the wine pot he brought back with clear and sweet stream water.

After the group finished their breakfast and packed their backpacks, it was about ten o'clock and the weather began to get hot. They walked down the slope, crossed the stream, and crossed the slope of another hill. After this tossing, their cloaks, blankets, water, food and other equipment had become serious burdens.

After walking like this in the morning, they realized that today might not be too easy. After walking for a few miles, the road began to slant down. They had crossed the winding path before, and now they finally started to walk to the lower part.

The road in the distance suddenly came a magical bend in front of them, and it was like a bowstring.

"Why does it seem like this road will never end," said Pipin. "Maybe we should stop and have lunch first!" He sat on the side of the road, looking at the hazy distance, where he had lived for most of his life and the familiar river. Sam stood in front of him. He opened his eyes wide and stared blankly; the scene in the distance was something he had never seen before.

"Will the elves live in that forest?" he asked.

"We have been in Charles for so many years, and no one has ever seen an elves be our neighbor!" Pipin said. Frodo remained silent. He also looked towards the east, as if he had never seen this scenery before.

Before he knew it, he heard what Bilbo had to pay attention to when he was a child: when he was away, be careful of the rivers that seemed to flow extremely slowly, and there are probably those cunning aquatic predators, or other disgusting and difficult unknown guys.

"So, at least there is an hour left on the road to get out of me," Pipin said.

Seeing that Pipin did this, Frodo and Tom immediately followed suit. After a while of rest, they used a hearty lunch, and then happily chatted with the strong tree trunk for a while.

The sun began to sink gradually, and the hot sunlight at noon shone lazily.

Perhaps it was this peace that had not seen for a long time that made everyone relax, and even Frodo himself began to focus on the irrelevant trivial matters of thinking about what to eat at night.

When she walked to a flat forest trail, Sam suddenly stopped and showed a vigilant look.

"Wait! Stop, stop first! Did you hear it? There is a sound of horse hooves!" Sam said.

Hearing this, everyone stopped moving almost reflexively. Frodo, who was already wary, quickly turned around and looked at the way he came. "Maybe Gandalf has caught up with him? But this is not accurate." Frodo said.

Just as he guessed whether it was Gandalf, he instinctively felt a nervous feeling in his heart, as if he didn't want the Knight to discover his whereabouts from the bottom of his heart.

"I feel something is wrong. The other party may not be Gandalf! As far as I know, Gandalf's horse is not so aggressive." As the panic in his heart gradually worsened, Frodo immediately found a reason to let his two companions hide in the grass with him.

Unexpectedly, it seemed that the two companions felt the sound of horse hooves as they were as flustered and unaware of it, so no one had any objections to hiding in the grass and watching the situation.

After quickly hiding behind the tall and dense bushes with his companions, confirming that his group was hiding perfectly and would not be discovered, Frodo then raised his head and curiously looked up from the roots of the tree.

A dark horse appeared from the other end of the road. It was not a pony ride by the Hobbit, but a tall horse that humans were accustomed to riding. On the horse's back was a tall man, wrapped in a grown cloak and wearing a hood, as if lying on the horse's back. A sniffing sound came from the shadows under the hood.

Just by the rude sound of the rider sniffing the nose, Frodo felt that he was more like a human-shaped monster and an unconventional human being able to ride horses.

For some reason, as soon as Frodo's thought appeared, he felt that his bizarre conjecture, which was as good as a fantasy, seemed to be the truth.

However, just as the horse rider was about to pass through the grass where Frodo was hiding, a wave of fear for no reason suddenly grabbed Frodo.

As if he was afraid of being discovered, he instinctively thought of the Lord of the Rings in his hand that could make him invisible.

This unreasonable fear tortured Frodo's patience, which made him want to bring the ring and avoid the other party's tracking. At the critical moment, the knight on the horse shook the reins a few times.

The dark horse accelerated and galloped towards the distance.

Frodo crawled to the side of the road and watched the knight disappear in the distance. Due to distance, he was hiding in the grass and his vision was blocked. But he seemed to see the knight riding his horse into the forest on the right.

"The knight riding a dark horse is really weird. Maybe he is not a human at all! I have never seen a human rely on his nose to find people or find ways!" Frodo shared his feelings when he walked back to his companion.
