chapter.11 The meeting in the dreamland(1/2)
Cthulhu Mythos.
Fictional stories named as myths mostly describe horrific and bizarre events and imaginary existences, and strive to deduce the indescribable fear that penetrates the back of the paper through vivid narratives.
Although "Cthulhu" is often used as a name to refer to the entire system, the classic image representative is the most famous Old One in this mythological system - in the Cthulhu mythology, "the Old One"
"As its name suggests, it once dominated everything hundreds of millions of years ago, and then passed away silently with the gradual rise of modern civilization.
However, the one who has the most absolute power and the most disgusting people is neither the "Old Rulers" nor the "Old Gods" who are hostile to the Old Ones and suspected of being in the good camp, but the one who comes from outer space.
The powerful gods are collectively referred to as the terrifying existence of "outer gods".
The pinnacle of the "Outer Gods" is called "Azathos", who is the god of blindness and ignorance, a crazy will that operates purely on instinct; under him, there are the three gods who are named "Three Pillars".
Three powerful alien gods.
One of them is the "Supreme Mother Goddess" Shub Nicholas, known as the "Goddess of Dark Soil" and the "Black Goat of the Forest that Gives Thousands of Descendants"; and one of her many incarnations and images
Among them, there happens to be one that has a frightening correlation with both the "Moon Mirror" and the "Dreamland".
"Guardian of the Moon Mirror", one of the incarnations of the "Supreme Mother Goddess" Shub Nicholas, lives in an underground space that may lead to the dreamland!
Recalling these fictitious "useless knowledge" without the support of mystical science, Klein felt a little unreal for a moment, as if he couldn't believe that the existence in the false stories had walked out of the text and paper, and couldn't believe that they could invade so easily.
The reality that I personally experienced.
After a few seconds that seemed short but seemed extremely long, he came back to his senses and realized that cold sweat had broken out on his body and the clothes on his back were slightly soaked.
Phew...if we were in the process of running a group, a character like me with my own knowledge of the Cthulhu Mythology would probably have been asked by the KP to go through a SAN value check just now. (Note)
With a gentle breath of turbid breath, Klein gradually regained his composure. While adjusting his mood with complaints, he allowed his thoughts to wander, trying to find a reasonable explanation for all the things that aroused his thoughts——
Yes, the emergence of the untimely "Cthulhu Mythos" is actually not too surprising.
After all, their encounter tonight is inseparable from the decryption of the "blasphemous card", and the maker of the "blasphemous card" is Emperor Russell...a time traveler from the twenty-first century earth!
It doesn’t seem to be unimaginable for the senior time traveler to do some tricks and play tricks on the props he made.
At least according to the Emperor's Diary that Klein has read, this guy has even considered coming out of One Piece, which is considered a bad taste.
so……
The password spell of "Mirror of the Moon", plus the cliff on the edge of the dreamland, and the design of the lever on the edge of the cliff that looks like some kind of mechanical device. Klein is almost certain that the answer that the combination of these elements points to is at the end of the void under the cliff.
, in that wonderful dimension called "Dreamland".
Although the more well-known way to enter the dreamland is to walk down the 770 steps in the dream and enter the dream realm from a door leading to the enchanted forest of the dreamland, it is obvious that the emperor chose a path for them.
Not so safe, full of thrilling routes.
Jump off a cliff.
But it seems that they still have some choice?
Klein was thinking this way, and turned his gaze to the abrupt mechanical lever on the edge of the cliff. He intuitively had the idea to pull it - no, or rather, the intention of placing this lever here is simply like
It’s the same as if it’s expressly used by visitors!
As if she could see that he had some ideas about the current situation, Alice smiled silently and nodded, indicating that he could try it with confidence.
So Klein approached the mechanical device that was incompatible with the empty wilderness, held the cold metal lever, and pulled it without much effort.
This action indeed triggered a certain mechanism, and the sound of gear operation and a slight vibration were transmitted to the senses of the dreaming body.
Klein stuck his head out and looked at the bottom of the cliff shrouded in thick fog. He listened attentively and could faintly catch some faint echoes from the windless silence.
Out of uneasiness about the unknown, he quickly retracted his head and returned to Alice to talk to her about some of his guesses about this dream - of course, in fact, he just picked some "Kesu" that was convenient for interpretation.
"Lu Mythology Knowledge" briefly stated that there might be some things under the cliff, reminding her to be mentally prepared.
As the two communicated, the clicking sound of the mechanical operation gradually became clearer, passing through the thick fog that filled the cliffs, from the gap in the void below to the edge of the cliff in the dream wilderness, and finally hovered in front of them.
"This is-" Elevator!
Klein couldn't bear to retract the term that popped into his mind. He looked at the simple platform with no roof and no walls. He found that in addition to the symbolic handrails around it, the most eye-catching thing was the platform.
Objects placed on the central stand.
When he first looked at it, he even thought he had made a mistake; but after actually looking carefully, his face couldn't help but reveal an expression of surprise.
At this moment, the device with a brass metal "handle" on the central platform of the platform rang.
Jingle Bell--
An old-fashioned telephone, an antique telephone that was so old that it only appeared in movies that Klein had seen, was noisily sending out an answer signal to them.
Someone has dialed the number of this phone? Want to give some encouragement to jump off the cliff to the person standing on the cliff at the entrance to the dreamland?
Gudong.
He unconsciously swallowed the excessive saliva in his mouth due to nervousness.
"Let's go over there and see what's going on."
Alice took the lead and walked towards the antique telephone that was ringing, seemingly not caring about his slightly nervous mood.
Looking at the girl's back, Klein silently labeled her as reckless, then let the curiosity in his heart override his caution and quickly caught up with her, even taking advantage of his long legs to get ahead of her.
Stepped on the metal floor of the lifting platform.
He had vaccinated himself, confident that no matter how weird or scary the sound came from the phone receiver, he was fully prepared and would not be easily frightened.
But just when he was about to reach out and pick up the phone, the noisy phone ringing suddenly interrupted, and the surroundings fell into deathly silence again.
Klein calmed down and decisively raised the receiver to his ear. As expected, he only heard a steady beeping busy tone.
...Is this also a trick done by the emperor?
With a silent curse, Klein replaced the receiver of the antique telephone and felt the lifting platform under his feet shake slightly.
Immediately afterwards, the familiar clicking sound of mechanical operation sounded, and the gears that interlocked with each other began to rotate, driving the mechanism at the end of the thick fog to begin to lower the swaying simple platform, slowly and steadily carrying the two foreign tourists, and took them away.
The entrance to the dream dimension.
Seeing that this simple lifting platform did not consider the user experience of the passengers at all, Klein thought for a moment and pulled Alice, who was leaning on the edge of the platform, back to the central platform, asking her to imitate him and hold on to the platform.
There are specially designed handrails underneath.
Who would have thought that the girl just glanced at him vaguely, then turned to look at the cliffs and thick fog outside the platform. Looking at the monotonous scenery that was descending at a slow speed and barely seeing any change in scenery, she chuckled.
"Maybe soon there won't be any need to be so cautious."
Klein's heart suddenly pounded, and he instinctively asked: "Why?"
"The reason... is very simple." Alice raised her eyes and looked at the old-fashioned phone that suddenly rang and then was cut off. She pointedly raised her index finger to her lips and said, "The ringtone just now sounded...
It’s like urging us to make a choice quickly, don’t you think so?”
…Of course it’s not that he didn’t consider this possibility.
But once he considered these suspicions, he could no longer suppress the idea of turning on his spiritual vision. Even though he knew that doing so might get some clues, and it was more likely that he would see indescribable horrors, but he
Still tapping his teeth, he let himself enter the spiritual vision.
At the moment when his spiritual vision turned on, Klein heard his own heartbeat.
A thump, thump that exuded fear.
The space outside the lifting platform is not empty fog and cliffs at all!
They...those formless black shadows, twisted, faceless shadows surrounded the slowly descending metal platform, wandering silently, almost reminding him of vultures hovering in the sky looking for carrion corpses.
But no animal can form a group like this group of black shadows to the point of being nearly overwhelming!
The black shadows were wearing rotten and old robes, and they looked more human than human. Their empty faces were always facing the two foreign visitors, always following their every move, like a swarm of moths chasing the light.
As if aware of Klein's gaze, the silent and invisible shadows became restless. The nearest shadows even wandered closer to the slowly downward lifting platform, stretching out rotten, disgusting
The deformed claws caused the simple metal floor to shake violently.
Fuck!
He almost blurted out an all-powerful national curse and immediately turned off his spiritual vision to avoid further irritating those hovering shadows.
However, the shaking of the lifting platform is getting more and more violent, making people more and more frightened, and it looks more and more like... being torn into pieces by the group of shadows that look like humans but not humans!
Klein only had time to confirm Alice's state at this time, and couldn't help but open his eyes wide. He watched in shock and confusion as the lifting platform under his feet was completely twisted and overturned by the shadows. The mechanical parts were all rotten and rusty, revealing something like
A hideous skeleton covered in scars.
There is no longer any obstacle between them and the void at the bottom of the cliff, and they are about to complete the journey to the dreamland by falling!
Instinctively, he found the opportunity to kick off the severely damaged lifting platform, adjusted his posture, and hugged Alice tightly in his arms amidst the weightlessness caused by the fall, as if doing so would help her.
It blocked her from the countless weird shadows and helped her isolate the inhuman screams and wild laughter that echoed through her ears.
Klein closed his eyes in time before his vision was enveloped in a blinding white light.
The girl in his arms gently lifted up and wrapped her hands around his back, leaving a warm touch that was enough to soothe panic.
At the end of the long fall, the visitors to Dreamland both fell into the water, causing a huge splash.
Unprepared, Klein took several sips of the heart-cooling water. Until the dizzy feeling of dizziness passed, he straightened his body with the help of Alice, and suddenly jumped from this piece of water that was only as high as his shoulders.
He stood up in the shallow pool.
To be continued...
