Chapter 13 Gas Station
The two lights of the car broke through the darkness before dawn and drove on the dense spruce forest road against the white mist.
Looking out from the car window, you can see dense branches, bright green needles, and spruce with spire-shaped crowns growing on both sides of the forest road. The faint white snow was dotted in the forest without any place, adding a touch of tranquility to the green.
Located in the northern temperate zone, close to the northern cold zone, the northern area of Plis is full of spruce as high as fifty or sixty meters.
It looks beautiful at first, but it is still the same after watching it for a long time.
The air is cold and fresh, with a little bit of moist soil and cold snow coming from the forest. After breathing for a long time, the lungs seem to be washed, relaxed and comfortable.
After crossing several mountains, the altitude here is not as high as the mountain, but it is much higher than the place where it came. The temperature is already below zero. Sani shrank her neck and breathed a sigh of relief. With the permission of the human skin monster next to her, she carefully drove the lion horse cart to the gas station separated by the road.
It was just below 6:50 in the morning, and the gas station was empty. In fact, judging from the previous weather, they had not encountered any other cars along the way. Who dared to be so crazy and dared to enter the mountains in such weather?
Although there is no car, the convenience stores in the gas station are still on. Generally, such convenience stores in remote areas only open from 6:00 am to 21:30 pm. If you arrive earlier, you may have to wait here for a while.
After Sani drove over and parked the car, she got out of the car, looked at the fuel tank mark on the refueling machine, which was marked with sp95 gasoline marked with green, instead of diesel marked with black, and picked up the oil gun and started refueling.
While cheering, Sani looked at the... monster sitting in her seat, as if she didn't stare at her, but kept looking ahead, then turned her back and quietly took out her cell phone.
I lit up the screen, edited a text message, with only four letters "stop", and quickly sent it out.
This is not a signal of seeking help. In the organization, there is generally no signal of seeking help. Single-line contact, only success or failure of the task, and the organization's strictness requirements cannot be achieved. There is no possibility of sending people to rescue and falling into a trap after the "seeking help" is issued.
Therefore, the text message she just edited actually had only one purpose, that is, to tell the organization that her mission had failed.
The organization will immediately investigate and evaluate whether to continue the task or give up the task. Of course, it will not punish her, but will only downgrade her rating. If there are any higher-level tasks next time, it will not necessarily be assigned to her.
No task means no reward.
It seemed a little uneasy. After sending a text message, Sani turned her head and looked at the monster-like man. Fortunately, there was no movement and he probably didn't notice his movements.
The fuel tank of the car is full.
Sani pulled out the oil gun and put it in, then walked to the convenience store. While walking, she pulled out the SIM card of her phone, picked up the nail knife to cut it, wiped the whole body of the phone with a silk scarf, and then threw it into the trash can along with the formatted phone.
Even though it's just a clean phone purchased from a black market, Sani will be cautious.
On the counter of the convenience store, an old man wearing headphones stared at Sani who was walking in, probably staring at her the moment she drove in.
"No. 2 oil gun." Sani said concisely.
The old man took off the earphones wrapped around his ears, looked down at the crt monitor, and slowly reported a number: "159.7 Lion Coin".
Sani took out her wallet, picked two bills with a denomination of 100 lion coins and handed them to the old man.
Then when the old man took the money, Sani narrowed her eyes, and a light flashed across the road, and a car quickly drove into the gas station and stopped next to the lion horse cart.
The woman breathed slightly and gasped. It was a police car.
Two policemen got off the docked police car. The passenger seat was a young policeman, and the driver seat was a veteran policeman who was obviously in his fifties.
This should be the patrol police in the nearby town. They are usually qualified to carry a "newcomer" with insufficient qualifications. The two were wearing local policemen's brown winter uniforms, black pants on their lower body, and a Kebero F127 on their left hip. They also had a baton, flashlight, two pairs of handcuffs and a radio intercom on their guns.
The young policeman raised his gas gun to refuel, while the old policeman slowly walked into the convenience store with his big belly.
"Give me a pack of raisin."
The old policeman vomited white breath, glanced at Sani standing next to him, and then threw out a few coins to the counter.
The old man obviously knew him, so he slowly did not ask for money for Sani first, but instead went to find a pack of cigarettes for the old policeman, "Have you found the lost child in Flynn's family?"
"No clues have been found yet."
"That's not good. You know Flynn's bad temper. He will definitely come to trouble you."
"That guy... I have to say he's crazy, and he's the horned devil who took his child away."
The old policeman took a cigarette and lit it: "I have lived here for decades and have never heard of any forest devils. Or is it that after this tourist road, the stories of the nervous outside also came in with tourists?"
"Haha... maybe it's been there all the time?"
The old man laughed meaningfully and finally found Sani's change. Sani took the change without saying a word and walked out.
"Do you remember that several children in the town disappeared more than ten years ago?"
The old man also lit a cigarette, and the pale smoke floated beside his pale hair, "In the end, only some fragmented bones were found."
The old policeman's expression changed slightly, and he changed the topic: "Is that woman just now a tourist?"
"No, she came from the north."
North? This weather?
It is definitely not a tourist anymore. All the tourists here come from the southern highway. Very few tourists drive from the northern mountains, especially the situation reported by the radio a few hours ago. Extremely bad weather occurred in the northern mountains. Driving on the cliffs by the mountain is simply a mortal act.
Stop talking, the old policeman picked up the cigarette and turned around, and was about to push the door and leave, the old man behind him shouted, "James."
"What's wrong?"
The old man took out the tape from under the counter, "The latest album of 'Cat and Bear' you asked me to buy last time has arrived."
"Thank you."
After taking the music tape, James pushed the door and walked out, the lady happened to get in and started the engine of the car.
The young policeman held the oil gun and looked at the lady. James could easily understand that the lady did look good.
but……
He strode over and happened to stop the direction the car was about to leave after it started.
"etc."
James patted the hood of the car.
"Is there anything wrong?" The car window rolled down, and the lady showed her head, looking at James with a confused look on her face.
"You just came from the northern mountainous area?"
James asked.
The lady was silent and nodded: "Yes, is there any problem with this?"
James looked inward and said that the lady was not doing well yet, but the man sitting in the passenger seat caught his attention.
