Chapter 67 The Outskirts of Myitkyina

Oh, I owe!" Walking in the jungle, Wu Ming suddenly sneezes and wipes some inexplicable things. What happened today? The fight started one after another.

"Boss, don't you catch a cold?" Zhao Xiaomei asked with concern, and reached out to try Wu Ming's forehead.

"It's okay, maybe my wife misses me." Wu Ming politely blocked her hand and said with a smile.

Zhao Xiaomei smiled softly, stopped talking, and lowered her head to continue on the road.

"The falling flowers are intentional, but the flowing water..." Zhang Shuhua next to him looked at Zhao Xiaomei's back sympathetically and murmured in a low voice.

"So, so sour." Wu Ming gave her a blank look, "You are jealous too."

"Go, what are you talking about?" Zhang Shuhua said angrily: "Miss is the best choice regardless of character, appearance, and ability. How many handsome men are there..."

"Yes, yes." Wu Ming said with a smile: "Although there are a little more muscles on the body and it doesn't feel good to touch, but the body shape is quite standard."

"Have you touched it?" Liu Hemei joked, "When did it happen?"

Cough cough, Wu Ming coughed twice, pointed at Liu Hemei and said, "Be careful when speaking at the girl, you are learning bad things from these male soldiers."

"I'm wrong, I've learned it from you." Liu Hemei curled her lips and said with a blink of an eye.

"Haha, if you don't learn it, you can't see so many advantages in me. I'm just learning it, and I'm just slick." Wu Ming smiled and put on a pose, "Look, how wise and powerful, how handsome and cool."

…………………………………

In May 1942, after Japan occupied Myanmar, it immediately strengthened various strategic points, built fortifications, and consolidated the outer border defenses of northern Myanmar. However, the Japanese army was actually in a situation where they were attacked on three sides. On the Indian-Myanmar border in western Myanmar, it confronted the British army with Cong Yinfang as the base. In the Hukang Valley in northern Myanmar, it continued to fight small-scale battles with Stilwell and Zheng Dongguo as the base, in Yunnan, China, and fought across the Nujiang River with the Chinese Expeditionary Force based in Baoshan as the base. The strategic situation was very unfavorable to Japan.

In 1943, the army and air force of China and the United States gradually increased. The construction of the Redo Highway between China and the United States made the Japanese army even more frightened. The Japanese army predicted that the Chinese and American troops would start a counterattack after the completion of the Ledo Highway. On the vast battlefield facing the enemy in three faces, the Japanese army counterattacked against the Chinese, American, British and Indian troops in the absolute dominance. If they responded with a defensive force, they would inevitably be unpredictable.

Therefore, the Japanese army decided to attack the bases of China, the United States and Britain first before counterattacks, with attack as defense. For this reason, the Japanese army believed that the British and Indian troops were relatively fragile and decided to attack the British army that printed the Myanmar border first. In the winter of 1943, the 15th Army Command of Myanmar confirmed that the Allied forces were deployed, and the main force attacked Mandalay, and then went south to recover the entire Myanmar. Therefore, a plan was formulated to attack the British army in India.

But before the Japanese attacked the Indian wing, the Chinese army stationed in India had already entered the Hukang Valley, disrupting the Japanese army's strategic deployment and opening the prelude to the counterattack of China, the United States, Britain and India.

In December 1943, the Indian army launched the enemy in the Hukang River Valley. The Hukang River Valley (also known as the Menggong River Valley at the southern end) winds through it, covered with forests and complex terrain. Especially the cliffs and cliffs on both sides of the northern part of the valley are confronted by the Dana River, with narrow roads and undulating hills, and the troops are very difficult to move. Mengguan is the most dangerous, and it is the throat of Burma.

The enemy's 18th Division built a semi-permanent mother-fort solid position on the banks of the Dana River and fought to the death. At this time, the Indian Army provided local materials and equipment with the Lease Act. In addition to the chariot battalions and mountain artillery battalions, each infantry company was equipped with 6 small mortars. Most of the soldiers were submachine guns, and the small mortars were used in the mountains that were better than the Japanese grenade launchers. These two weapons were very convenient in the forest and had good results. The Japanese army was proud of hand-to-hand combat, and the weapons and equipment were inferior to those of the Indian Army. The Indian Army not only had strong ground firepower, but also the British and American air forces had air supremacy. Strategic fleets continued to fly behind enemy lines to bomb, and fighter jets and bombers coordinated with ground troops to attack the Japanese positions in groups.

The terrain of northern Myanmar is complex, with forests, rivers, lakes and marshes crisscrossing, and the requirements for special training are high, such as swimming, boating, building bridges, opening roads, terrain judgment, the use of compass, and various communication methods. The Chinese army stationed in India conducted jungle war training in forests near Redo before the war, so it was able to flexibly use various tactics during the battle. This alone is not comparable to the Expeditionary Force during the first expedition to Myanmar.

The two armies had committed a special battle in Myanmar in 1942. The offensive of the Indian army was extremely fierce and the battle was extremely fierce.

Wu Ming stood on the top of the mountain and looked at the distance with a telescope.

He then put down his hand and turned around and walked back.

"Send a report to the headquarters of the Indian Army and Kunming Station in Yunnan, the division headquarters of the 18th Division of the Japanese Army will drive out of Myitkyina tomorrow morning and move forward to the north. There are about 1,500 people and dozens of tanks and armored vehicles." Wu Ming paused for a moment and continued: "Request the Air Force's long-range strategic fleet to carry out air strikes and bombard them. Our Rangers will indicate the target for them and attack them in the chaos."

Myitkyina is located in northern Myanmar, surrounded by mountains and in the middle, which is the end of the Myanmar railway. It can directly reach Menggong, Mandalay, Yangon and other places. The highway connects Sunbulaban to the north, Bamo to Lashio in the south, connects the Myanmar highway to Yunnan, and reaches the Hukang Valley through the Kameng League in the west, and connects with the Sino-Indian Highway. It is surrounded by the Irrawaddy River in the east, pours into the southeast, and flows into the sea through central Myanmar. Not only is the transportation developed, it is also one of the commercial centers and largest cities in northern Myanmar. The northwest of Myitkyina is the famous Kumang Mountains, which separates Myitkyina from the Menggong Valley, which is a natural obstacle to the defense. There are airports in the west of Myitkyina city, and both sides of the north, and the Sino-Indian Highway also passes here, and its strategic position is particularly important.

After Wu Ming led his team to the periphery of Myitkyina to meet with other sub-movements, he immediately spread the troops out and prepared to find fighter planes. Combined with listening to the local Japanese phone number, he learned that the Japanese division headquarters was preparing to move forward to Menggong to command the battle nearby after learning that the troops stationed in India were launching a counterattack.

The Rangers won consecutive battles and were full of enthusiasm. Many cadres advocated setting up an ambush to attack the enemy division headquarters, winning with fewer and making more achievements, but Wu Ming, Huang Zongwu and others strongly opposed it.

"First, the enemy division moved forward, with more troops and strict guards. If you attack rashly, you will inevitably suffer more losses; Second, our Rangers came lightly and lacked heavy firepower. Facing the Japanese tanks and armored vehicles, you have no confidence in winning only by bazooka, bomb and other close-range firearms; Third, the Rangers are not good at positional warfare, and the enemy is three times more powerful than me. Once the stalemate is in a row, the Japanese troops will flock to you, and the consequences will be unimaginable." Wu Ming explained patiently: "I will bring you out and try to bring you back as safely as possible. In my eyes, I feel heartbroken that one person can exchange ten Japanese troops."

"The Japanese devils are beasts, how can they compare with our people?" Huang Zongwu said with a smile, which caused a burst of laughter from the team members.

"Haha, in short, in short, a word, you won't fight without any confidence." Wu Ming laughed twice and made a final conclusion, "I hope I'm not a waste of saliva. I have to remember it in my head. In the future, who is the commander, and I will never take risks."

"What if the plane doesn't come to bomb?" Tan Zheng beeped softly and said, "I'm really a little unwilling to leave this big piece of fat and don't eat it."

"Big fat meat can't hold you up." Wu Ming glared at him fiercely, "Some are targets waiting for us to fight, airports, ammunition and food warehouses, etc. We must not only eat, but also eat comfortably."

"You guys are so fucked, after winning a few battles, they feel amazing. They will suffer a great loss when they regard the Japanese as local chickens and dogs." Wu Ming shouted: "Borrowing other people's words, you should despise the enemy strategically and pay attention to the enemy tactically. You all think about it carefully. Now, leave the surveillance force, and the others follow me to reconnaissance and arrangements on the Japanese army's necessary path. Whether to fight or not is one thing, and whether to be prepared is another."

…………………………………

"This time I'm going to let the sniper complete the mission." Wu Ming's cold eyes swept over the team members in front of him. "This is different from the past. It mainly tests the ability to lurk for a long time. A shelter is set up every 800 meters. If there is no aircraft bombing to cooperate, we will set up bombs on the road to disrupt the enemy's marching team and strive to expose the enemy's important targets themselves."

"You may be thinking that this place is relatively empty and not suitable for hiding." Wu Ming pursed his lips and continued, "Wrong, a real sniper will not be stumped by this. My idea is to dig a hole and bury people in the soil to disguise it. This requires patience and perseverance. For a few hours or even a day, long-term lurking requirements for quality are very high. Anyone who thinks he can't hold on, please take a step back."

All the snipers stared at Wu Ming without blinking, and their feet did not move at all.

"Female sniper, please stand aside." Wu Ming waved his hand gently, "You have another mission."

The three female soldiers in the team seemed to be stunned. Does this mean that Wu Ming does not believe in their abilities? This difficult task has excluded them.
