Chapter 45: The Calamity of the Tianshan Mountains (Heavy Snow)

I slept in a daze all night. When I woke up the next day, I was in an ice cave, so I didn't know what was going on outside. I climbed out along the cave, then reached out and pushed away the layer of snow outside, and took off the air vent I built before I fell asleep.

Then I looked out. During this season, I don’t know if there is heavy snow in Tianshan Mountain, but everything outside is completely covered by snow.

Even the traces left last night were erased, and the only thing left was a smooth snow surface.

Qian Nanmu also crawled out along the cave path and asked behind me, "Has the snow stopped outside?"

"Yeah, it's stopped, but it seems to be quite shallow"

I answered.

After a night, the slope at the entrance of the cave seemed to be almost flattened. You can imagine how heavy the snow fell last night.

I had explored the thick snow before and found that because the temperature was too low, the snow turned into powdery grains, a bit like salt.

This is a special snow formed when the temperature reaches a certain level and the snow falls and is blown by strong winds.

It is generally more common in northern China. In my hometown, snow can be made into a ball. We call it Nuoxue, but this one is like sand and cannot form a ball in our hands. It is called sand and snow, and some are called salt snow.

This kind of special snow has one advantage, which is easily blown away by the wind, but there is also one disadvantage, that is, the snow is particularly loose, with deep accumulation thickness, making it difficult to form a solid stress layer.

On the Tianshan Mountains, the one you are most afraid of encountering is this kind of snow, because it basically hits it to the end and has no ability to bear it at all.

This increases the risk of walking. After all, the Tianshan Mountains are so steep. If you step on this accumulated snow, it will be a small matter if you fall into the gap. What I am afraid of is that if you step on the gap, the problem will be big.

So I hurriedly retreated and asked Qian Nanmu to go back to the cave first, and we were lying together in a row.

“The snow outside is very dangerous, not only the depth is very shallow, but it is also loose”

I spoke.

Hearing this, Qian Nanmu's brows sank, frowned and thought for a while, and finally showed his inspiration and said, "We can push the snow and push a way out."

"Push the snow?"

"Yes, it's just snowballing, and I'm afraid of making a larger piece of ice. Although they are not sticky, if they are enough, they can still push some of the snow off, and then we use things to explore, which will be much safer."

She said.

I measured it after hearing this, and thought it was feasible, so I nodded, "You can give it a try."

I responded, and then told her to tie her trousers' legs, then climb out by herself, collect sand and snow at the entrance of the hole, and then squeeze it into pieces with force.

After doing all this, I pressed it on the snow in front of me and rolled back and forth. At the beginning, it was difficult to roll the snow up, but soon as the weight increased, the efficiency of the snow was faster.

Seeing that this method was shaped, I hurriedly stopped it, then went into the hole and called Qian Nanmu. She held the Broken Soul in her arms and pulled my backpack.

I helped her get the things out of the hole and placed them one by one at the entrance. Then I pushed the snow and she explored the way.

I just groped through it bit by bit and walked back along the road in my memory. I originally thought it would not be too difficult, but I really muttered about the harsh climate of Tianshan Mountain. I followed the road in my memory for a while and suddenly realized something was wrong. Because the road ahead did not have much similarities at all, and because the snow in some places was too thick, I had to take a detour, so I went back and forth, and when we realized something was wrong.

Everything around me became completely unfamiliar, as if I had left for the first time, and I was very sure that I didn't see the place I stayed at all when I came here.

Regarding this phenomenon, Xiao Shi explained to us that this is called loss of direction, which means that walking without reference objects will unknowingly deviate from the original route and thus lose direction.

This situation is very common in snowy days, because it is difficult to have reference objects on snowy days, so the chance of getting lost is very high.

After listening to his words, I was not very discouraged, but quickly used the knowledge I learned to make judgments.

I hope I can find the way down the mountain. After some determination and planning, I finally get the route down the mountain.

I plan to walk straight first, with a line as a reference, and then try not to deviate from that line until I can't walk down, and then walk straight along the left or right side to find a place where I can go down.

Because we want to go down the mountain, as long as we keep going all the time, we will definitely be able to go out.

At first I thought about it, but after I implemented it, I was stunned. At first, it went smoothly and the speed was very fast.

However, after encountering the first obstacle again, it seemed to mark the arrival of our bad luck. I originally thought that since I couldn't get off, I could find a way to continue when I walked left and right, but after I walked all the left and right, an embarrassing situation occurred.

Because we found that there is no road left or right to continue. For this situation, it can be said that there is a headache. There is no road to go, which means we have to go back to the starting point and explore the way again, which is for the efficiency of going down the mountain.

It will undoubtedly greatly increase the time we spend in the snow, but I can't do anything so I have to take Qian Nanmu back.

Seeing that I was not in a good mood, Qian Nanmu hurriedly comforted me and told me that as long as I work hard, there will be no forest that cannot get out of the world and no mountains that cannot get down to the bottom.

Looking at her serious comfort, I nodded and cheered up for three steps. We went back and forth for half a morning, but there was still no progress. The surroundings seemed like an independent space, blocked from the surroundings, resulting in no way going down at all.

We went back and forth, exhausted, and finally found helplessly, and finally we walked back to where we started.

Looking at the familiar ice cave, we looked at each other and smiled helplessly, "Well, we can continue to sleep for another night."

She smiled.

Looking at the girl's indifferent appearance, I pulled the corner of my mouth, "You can see it openly, we are being chased."

"Not afraid or not, they can't find us."

"I hope we can eat something and then take a break," I responded, then took out the prepared things from my bag, found a stronger piece of floor, and after processing, I sat on the ground and ate.

As for water, fill it in a water bottle, then shake it vigorously to shake the water in the bottle away.

Although it is very difficult, fortunately, the weather in Tianshan seems to be good, the water is acceptable, and it doesn’t taste strange.

After I finished eating the food, I dealt with the ice cave again and planned to stay in it for a night, and then rush to go tomorrow. We were also helpless about finding nothing for a day.

But the more you get lost, the more you must stay calm. You cannot lose your position, as the chances of going out will become even more slim.

I expanded the hole because the snow began to freeze, so I didn't worry about collapse if it was too big.
