Chapter 21 Cigarette Friendship
Old Boman seemed to have started talking that night. Benjamin, who came to his senses from the photo, drank black tea and chatted until after eight o'clock in the evening.
Old Boman is a very typical old-fashioned federal man. Since his son was killed by terrorists, he has particularly supported the federal army. Although he knew in his heart that the federal garrison in the Middle East was just an excuse and a piggyback job. But he still looked forward to the day when the terrorist organization was completely wiped out.
Perhaps it was because of his concern for the federal army that three years ago suddenly one day, he met a soldier he had interviewed when he was young. But now, the other party can only stay on the streets. Looking at the old homeless man who was in a down-and-out state and still had a foul smell on his body.
Old Boman was stunned, although he knew that the federal government had not done well in the placement of veterans now. But that was just a concept, far from reality could have had such a strong impact on him.
He invited the veteran to have lunch and gave all the cash on his body. After returning home, Old Boman could not combine the foul smelly homeless man with the once sunny and fighting young face.
Since then, there has been one more thing in Old Boman's life. He began to pay attention to the situation of veterans, would take photos of them, go to the Veterans Association to lie in, and even occasionally go to chat with homeless people on the street.
After three years, he photographed many down-and-out veterans. He also saw how many veterans were fired during the period of high anti-war sentiment. He wrote letters and published manuscripts to magazines and newspapers. But none of them could be written. Gradually, Old Boman could no longer do it. He was tired.
Until today he met Ye Qing. Seeing them running around for Benjamin's affairs, he did not earn even a cent. In them, there was no prejudice against soldiers by anti-war figures, nor the mentality of using extreme people. This made Old Boman feel very pleased.
Ye Qing was surprised when he first heard about the problem that Old Boman said. He grew up in China since he was a child, so he really couldn't understand the occurrence of this situation. Naturally, he could not make any comments.
"I'm just a businessman. Those things that I shouldn't worry about against or against war are not what I should worry about. Hiring veterans like Conn, Harris, and others are just that they are more familiar with guns than ordinary people and can do better jobs."
This was Ye Qing's answer at that time, very sincere. This answer undoubtedly made Old Boman very satisfied until Ye Qing left. Old Boman's face was full of smiles.
"Boss, you're back. Some customers left after hearing that you were not here. I can only make some pure wine or beer for them before leaving, and the money is placed on the table in the bar."
Just as he parked the car, Ye Qing, who walked into the store with two boxes in his arms, saw Harris rushing to him as if he had seen a savior.
"Okay, thank you for your hard work Harris. The extra two hours are considered overtime. How about taking a little longer tomorrow and coming two hours later?"
"That's great, so I can sleep in tomorrow. By the way, now the guests need cocktails, I'll write them on the notes. Then I'll leave first, goodbye, Lai Li!"
Looking at Harris who was excited after work, Ye Qing also smiled. The three employees in the store, Lai Li was too quiet, and Kang An was a little older. Only this Harris was no more than two years older than him. Looking at him, Ye Qing also felt very relaxed.
While saying hello to Laili, Ye Qing walked into the bar. After putting the two boxes first, Ye Qing bent down to see the sticky notes attached to the edge of the bar.
Sticky notes lined up the cocktails that guests needed in chronological order. Those who received money and those who did not received money were also marked. This made Ye Qing reaffirm Harris's carefulness.
Then put on the apron and Ye Qing started his own performance.
Ye Qing’s bartender was fancy, but the speed was not slow at all. He prepared all the wine ordered by the guests for more than twenty minutes. Of course, there were also reasons why the guests did not order too much cocktails.
When serving the wine, Ye Qing did not bother Lai. Instead, he personally served the guests. While observing the source of the guests, Ye Qing also expressed his apology to the guests for being late today.
Fortunately, most of the customers were repeat customers who brought their friends to him after tasting Ye Qing's craftsmanship here yesterday. They were very generous to Ye Qing, the excellent bartender and boss.
What's more interesting is that Ye Qing found a little girl who had asked her for cigarettes in a table of guests. She was a little unsure at first, but when she saw the other party dodging her eyes, Ye Qing affirmed her discovery.
It seemed that she was brought over by her friends. Her friends were not beyond Ye Qing's expectations. They all looked very young and would never be a good student in dressing.
But Ye Qing didn't care about these things, he just had to pay a little attention to whether there were ATF inspectors coming to his house. After all, in Silver Eagle Federation, under the age of 21, drinking is not allowed.
Thinking of these messy things, Ye Qing walked back to the bar. After simply cleaning up the operating table, Ye Qing took out a cigarette and prepared to add one. He talked with Lao Boman for so long before Ye Qing wanted to smoke, but he was worried about Lao Boman's body, Ye Qing endured it until now.
"Hey, man. Are you going to have one?"
A man drinking alone sat on the bar stool next to the bar, out of Chinese-style courtesy. Ye Qing pulled out a cigarette and put it in front of the man.
"Oh, thank you. My name is Mike, Mike Blair. I live in the apartment opposite."
The man was obviously stunned by Ye Qing's actions of handing over the cigarette, and then did not refuse. While lit a cigarette, he introduced himself. It just seemed that he didn't seem to smoke. He sucked a cigarette and coughed several times.
"Ye Qing, the boss and bartender here. It seems that you can't smoke. If you feel uncomfortable, you don't have to force it. It's me who took the liberty."
Ye Qing looked at the opposite side and introduced herself while turning around and receiving a glass of soda for Mike.
"Drink a little water to rinse your mouth."
"Ahem, thank you. I'm fine....hem, I mean, you didn't take the liberty. You made me feel very warm, yes, like a friend."
The man's a little incoherent words made Ye Qing a little confused. What is this with?
"Well, I think we should be friends now. But friends don't need to please each other. If you really don't get used to it, put down your cigarettes, which won't affect our friendship, right?"
Seeing the other party feeling so uncomfortable that he was still unwilling to destroy the cigarette in his hand, Ye Qing couldn't help but feel guilty in his heart. Could it be that he would bring out another cigarette addiction...
Speaking of which, all three roommates in college were taken by themselves to learn how to smoke...
