Chapter 4 The Bar(1/2)
The light is located in an alley. From a distance, it looks like a lonely shop waiting for customers to come.
It was indeed a store, with heavy doors inlaid with frosted glass and carved glass windows.
Shang Jianyao walked over step by step until he felt that there was human consciousness inside.
"Ten meters..." He raised his hand and rubbed his chin.
This is his estimated distance.
He believed that the person in the store had also discovered his existence.
Shang Jianyao did not stop and came to the thick brown wooden door.
The yellow and warm light flows out quietly at the glass inlaid above the wooden door.
Shang Jianyao raised his right hand, but did not knock on the wooden door or push it directly. Instead, he pulled up the wind chime hanging from the door, listening to it making a jingle sound.
Over and over again, Shang Jianyao seemed to have found a new fun.
Finally, the man inside the door spoke:
"It's open to the public, you can enter if you want."
This is a slightly hoarse male voice, which is quite weak.
Shang Jianyao was "alert" and responded loudly:
"Did you not eat for several days and are so hungry that you have no strength to talk?"
The man inside the door sighed:
"I'm in poor health and it has nothing to do with hunger."
"Is that true?" Shang Jianyao looked "I don't believe it".
However, while saying this, he pushed open the heavy brown wooden door with great enthusiasm.
Inside the door is a small bar.
At the side of the bar, someone was wearing a white shirt and a black vest standing behind the bar, skillfully mixing a glass of wine.
Behind the man was a row of wine racks, with all kinds of bottled wines.
They are all obviously in the red river style.
There is a row of high chairs in front of the bar, and a yellow-lit chandeliers above.
Apart from the bar area, there were only two sets of sofas in other places, and there was no gap. "One, two..." Shang Jianyao counted the seats of this small bar.
Even if you include those high chairs, you can accommodate up to sixteen guests.
"Why don't you open a big bar?" Shang Jianyao asked while walking towards the front of the bar.
The bartender replied weakly: "There are fewer residents in the New World, and there are restrictions on my alcohol quantity."
At this time, Shang Jianyao finally saw clearly the bartender's appearance. He pointed at the other party with a look of "terror" and said:
"You are a zombie!"
The bartender was so thin that he was skinny that he was only a little better than the sleeping Yanhu.
His blue eyes were deeply sunken, his flax-colored hair was dull, and he exuded a temperament that would kill him on the spot if he had disagreement. As for his age, he could not tell at all.
"I'm in poor health." The bartender repeated again.
"Oh." Shang Jianyao showed a concerned expression, "Is there a way to treat it?"
The bartender was silent and said:
“This is the price.”
Shang Jianyao was "terrified" again:
"You told me the price!
"Do you want to kill someone to silence you?"
The bartender didn't say anything for a while.
He drank the emerald green alcoholic beverage he had made and said simply:
“My price is too obvious, there is no need to hide it.”
"Yes, yes." Shang Jianyao agreed and sat on a high chair, "You look like a bamboo pole."
He changed his adjective.
The bartender was not very tall, not much different from Shang Jianyao. With his skin and bones, he was really like a bamboo pole inserted behind the bar.
Shang Jianyao asked immediately:
“What is the name?”
"Jaco." replied the bartender.
"Why are you Honghe people always going over and over again?" Shang Jianyao sighed casually.
Without waiting for Jacob to respond, he looked at the other party's emerald green bartender and said:
“Is this a cocktail?”
"Do you want to try?" Jacob asked weakly.
"No, the wine is not delicious at all." Shang Jianyao expressed his opinion.
Jacob turned his body and pointed to a bottle of wine behind and said:
“Then I recommend one to you.
"It is sugar wine, fermented with sucrose juice. The brewing method is also unique. It has a sweet taste. There is no need to add anything else. Just put a piece of ice in it, which will give you a great enjoyment."
Shang Jianyao's eyes lit up when he heard the taste was sweet.
Then, he shook his head:
“I’m too young to drink.”
Jacob glanced at the strong-body guy and gave up persuasion.
Shang Jianyao asked curiously:
"Many things in the 'New World' seem to be manifested by the spirit, and your wine also comes from your consciousness, and is a part of your spirit?
"If I drink it, is it equivalent to sucking you a little bit of energy?"
After listening calmly, Jacob said with an answer to the question:
“This is the world of spirit.”
Before Shang Jianyao could ask, he added weakly:
“The nature of these wines is different from human consciousness, but not mine.
“They smell comes from the wines I used to drink.”
Shang Jianyao suddenly sat upright and asked in a deep voice:
"The human consciousness you extracted from the dust?"
Jacob's eyes suddenly became sharp.
After a few seconds, he sighed:
"These are guys sentenced to death. I am responsible for the execution, extracting their consciousness and turning them into the purest spiritual food."
"The death row prisoner of a certain force on the dust?" Shang Jianyao asked.
Jacob nodded.
Shang Jianyao's body relaxed and was no longer so tense.
"Don't you suspect I'm lying?" Jacob's voice was low, as if he didn't want to speak with too much power.
Shang Jianyao replied calmly:
“I’ve been sensing your thoughts fluctuations and have no tendency to lie.”
This is the effect of the "thinking reading" ability.
It is not like "other mind knowledge" or "mind reading skills", which can directly "hear" the other person's voice. It can only obtain the characteristics of thinking fluctuations, thereby judging the other person's thoughts and tendencies.
Jacob didn't ask any more questions, took a sip of the emerald green cocktail and said:
"Actually, I don't really need to absorb other people's consciousness, because my body is still alive and well cared for, and my spirit can always be replenished.
"I opened this bar to those awakened people who have lost their bodies, so that they can have a fixed place to replenish themselves, without taking risks, giving up on themselves, and without having to attack humans on the dust without discrimination."
"If the body is still there, don't need to feed on human consciousness?" Shang Jianyao suddenly leaned forward and stared at Jacob's eyes.
"It's theoretically." Jacob shook the emerald green cocktail, "but our bodies will gradually fade, and my health is getting worse and worse, and I still need to have a drink occasionally."
Shang Xiu Yao said "Ohhh" twice:
“That is, having a body is better than not having a body?”
To be continued...
