Chapter 1 Past Events

The night was dark and boundless, with only a few scattered stars emitting a faint light. In the eastern suburbs of Jindu City, two fast moving figures appeared in the original Prince's Mansion, which was burned into ruins by a fire.

They came to a dry well covered by weeds in the northwest corner, polished Huo Yizi, cleared the debris above the wellhead, threw the long rope on their backs into the dry well, and pulled the rope one by one and crawled down.

In the dry well, the man found a faded swaddle. The man took out a piece of gray cloth from his arms, wrapped it up and tied it around his waist, and climbed out of the dry well along the rope.

Half an hour later, the swagger was sent to the wife of Dao, who had just been freshly released two months ago. Dao unbuttoned the cloth bag with trembling hands, and saw the swagger inside, and tears rose in his eyes.

The cloth strap on the swaddle had been weathered, and it was a slip knot, which was easily torn apart, with a small piece of gray-white bone inside. Dow's hand was trembling and he wanted to touch it but didn't dare to touch that piece of bone. Tears were crying like rain, and he shouted: "Daughter! Daughter! My miserable daughter!"

Tao was holding the cradle, crying heartbrokenly, crying with hoarse voice, and her eyes were swollen. I don’t know how long it took, Tao cried so hard that she was weak and cried on the table. She twitched for a long time before she slowly calmed down.

Tao wiped away the tears from his face, carefully and carefully folded the cradle neatly, put it in a brocade box, gently stroked it, muttering to himself: "Daughter, my mother will not let you die unjustly, I will avenge you, and I will send the culprit to apologize to you. Daughter, it's my mother that's useless, it's my mother that I'm sorry for you, I will come down to accompany you soon, good daughter, don't be afraid, you wait for your mother."

Tao looked at the cradle in a daze, motionless, and her whole body solidified in grief. It was not until the window passed through the light, indicating that it was dawn that she closed the lid of the brocade box and locked it into the carved cabinet of the red sandalwood wood.

Tao pulled the bell and called the maid in to serve. The maids had already prepared toiletries and were waiting outside. When they heard the sound, they pushed the door in and saw Tao's face haggard. The maid asked with concern: "Madam, did you not sleep well last night?"

Dow's lips curled slightly and said in a pun: "Yes, I didn't sleep well, I had a nightmare. Now I've woken up and I'll sleep well in the future."

While Tao was washing and dressing up, several concubines came to pay their respects, "I wish my wife goodbye to you, and my wife will be blessed."

Tao's eyelids did not even raise his eyelids, and his attitude towards them did not change at all. After a while, Shen Muke, the Marquis of Zhongyi, came, and the concubine who was following him was the concubine who was happy with him yesterday. The concubine looked springy and her slender waist twisted out, which made the other concubines full of jealousy.

"Master." Tao bowed and bowed, and the cold light flashed in his lower eyes.

Shen Muke nodded and sat down on the left chair. Tao personally presented her with tea, and then sat down on the chair to his left.

The maid reported: "Third Master, Third Grandma, Seventh Master and Young Master, Miss Bao are here to pay tribute."

Shen Muke took a sip of tea and said, "Let them come in."

Tao looked at Shen Baiyu who limped in, and a hint of heartache flashed in his eyes. Seeing Shen Baiding swaying, his hands folded in front of him, and he held each other tightly.

Second grandma Shao greeted her parents-in-law, looked up at Tao, and a smile of surprise flashed in her eyes. What's wrong with today? My mother-in-law, who has always disliked applying makeup, has been polished too thick today.

Tao coughed lightly and said, "You're all here, go to court to eat."

The maid set up the food for the court, and Chen Muke sat down at the table, and Tao and others sat down. Tao glanced at Shao and said, "If you have servants to serve him, you can sit down and eat together."

"Yes." Shao responded with his knees bent.

Shen Boding picked up the bowl and put it down again, showing that he could not swallow his food. Chen Muke looked up at him and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Father, my son sits and eats while my biological mother is serving him. My son is burdened." Shen Baiding stood up and lowered his head.

Dow curled the corners of his lips, his eyes were as calm as water, and he picked up a spring roll and gave it to his granddaughter, "Baoer."

Chen Muke glanced at Shen Boding's biological mother, Aunt Dong, and said, "Go and sit next to you."

Aunt Dong smiled so hard that she couldn't see her eyes and said, "Yes, Master."

After the family had eaten quietly, Chen Muke took the cup handed by his maid, rinsed his mouth, and walked towards the left vent. Tao pointed to the concubine and said, "Go in and wait for the master to change his clothes."

The concubine bowed and said, "Yes."

Chen Muke changed into court clothes, walked out, and said, "I'm going to the yamen."

Tao stood up, and took him to the door with his concubine, bowed and said, "Give me a farewell to the master."

The concubines also saluted: "Give me a visit to the master."

After seeing off Chen Muke, Tao sent his concubines and Shen Baiding away and said, "Yu'er, your wife has been married for several years and has not returned to her parents' home. It's nothing in the past few months. Just take her and the children to the Shao family to see your father-in-law and mother-in-law, and come back before the Dragon Boat Festival."

Shao was full of joy, Shen Baiyu had always been filial, and the couple followed Tao's words, prepared gifts, and left Beijing to Shao's parents' home on March 18th.

On the third day when Shen Baiyu and his wife left with their children, on March 20, Tao went to the old house of Shen's family as often as possible to pay homage to Chen's mother. Chen's mother was wearing a dark blue ball flower-double-breasted wide-sleeved gown, leaning against the couch, and a little girl was pounding the beauty and pounding her legs.

Chen's mother watched Tao come in, a faint look flashed in her eyes, and she asked in a deep voice: "Why are you the only one? Where is Shao?"

Tao only treated her as if she didn't see the look in her eyes, and saluted respectfully, saying, "Old lady, Shao has returned to her parents' home."

"This junior doesn't tell the elders when he returns to his parents' home. It's too rude. He is a small family and just can't get on the table." Mrs. Chen Er said sarcastically.

"She returned to her parents' home with the consent of me, my mother-in-law. The old lady is my mother-in-law and I serve her." Tao said with a smile.

Zhou curled his lips and hummed with disdain.

Without waiting for Chen's mother to speak, Tao looked for a chair to sit down on it. Chen's mother's face became a little ugly again.

Mrs. Shen, Lin, led her daughter-in-law, and Zhou, led her daughter-in-law to flatter her mother, and looked at the flattering look. Tao was so disgusted and looked down at the patterns on her sleeves.

Tao was patient and drank tea in the old house of Shen family so that the tea was faded. Then he got up and left the house and went to the medicine shop. Tao took out three old orders from Heli, "Shopkeeper, pick up all these medicinal materials and send them to the Zhongyi Marquis' Mansion. The price is not a problem."

The doctor in the hall saw that the three orders were all prescriptions for nourishing the body. There was no problem, so he nodded to the shopkeeper. His meager medical skills were not enough to show that from the three medicines, he could produce a fatal poison by taking a few medicines from each of the three medicines.

The shopkeeper nodded and said, "Yes, yes, yes, madam, don't worry, you can pick up all the medicinal materials in two days and send them to the mansion."

Tao left the medicine shop, went to the restaurant for dinner, ordered another table of noodles, and asked them to deliver them to the Zhongyi Marquis' Mansion on the evening of March 26th.

Two days later, the medicinal materials were sent to the Hou Mansion. Chen Muke asked, "What did you buy so many medicinal materials?"

"I haven't slept well these days, so the doctor said I should drink some medicine to calm down." Dow explained.

Seeing that her face was not very good, Chen Muke didn't think much about it and told her to take medicine as soon as possible. In the next few days, Tao did not let his concubine and his concubine come to pay tribute on the grounds of being in poor health. Tao hid in the room and focused on picking out the medicine he needed, making it a pair of deadly poison, and grinding the medicinal materials into powder.

On the 26th, Tao and Shen Muke went to the Eastern Palace to attend the prince's birthday banquet. In the evening, the restaurant brought the table in, and Tao mixed poison into the wine and the eight-treasure chicken soup that Shen Muke loved to drink.

Tao did everything and ordered the maid, "Go and invite the master to come over and say I have something important to discuss with him."

The maid went to invite Chen Muke. Chen Muke was hugging Aunt Dong, laughing and drinking wine, and was very happy. When he learned that Tao had invited him, Aunt Dong pouted unhappily and pulled the corner of his clothes, "Master, today is my day."

"I'll finish talking to her and come over again." Chen Muke pulled his hand out of her clothes.

"I'm waiting for the master to come here." Aunt Dong said in a coquettish voice.

Chen Muke went to the Tao's yard, and Tao held all the subordinates back and stood by the door waiting for him. Chen Muke strode in and asked not too patiently: "What are you important to you? Do you have to say today?"

Tao smiled slightly, closed the door, turned around and said, "Today's lunch, the master drank wine. He should have let the master rest, but he shouldn't disturb him. But if I don't share this happy event with the master, I don't know who should share it with."

"What happy event?" Chen Muke sat down at the table and asked.

"Master, don't worry, wait until I'll pay three glasses of wine to the master, and then talk about it." Tao took the pot and poured the wine and served it with him.

Chen Muke happily drank three large glasses of wine.

Tao put a bowl of chicken soup in front of him, and smiled and said, "Master, drink the bowl of soup, I'll bring the things."

Tao saw Chen Muke drinking half a bowl of soup before turning around to the inner room. Chen Muke was still drinking soup, but he didn't notice Tao's decisive face and the coldness in his eyes.

Mrs. Tao took out the brocade box from the carved cabinet of the red sandalwood, returned to the hall, and asked with a smile: "Master, do you still remember what day it is today?"

Chen Muke looked at her and asked back, "What day is it?"

"Show the master something, maybe he can remember it." Tao put the brocade box in front of him and opened the lid.

Chen Muke looked at the things inside and frowned and asked, "What are you doing with such a dirty thing?"

"Don't you recognize me? This is a cradle, which I embroidered with stitches and threads, and was embroidered for my daughter. Master, have you remembered it?" Tao asked with a sharp look at him.

Chen Muke's face changed slightly, "You are fine, why are you taking this out for?"

"Tell you that today is the daughter's life taboo, and it is also the daughter's death taboo, and it will also become your death taboo." Tao said with a ferocious expression.

Chen Muke felt abdominal pain at this time, "You, you actually dare to murder your husband."

"The tiger poison is not even a child, but what about you, for your Qingyun Road, you are so cruel that you killed your biological children. Then why can't I be a woman with a scorpion heart? If I could wake up earlier, maybe Mi'er would not die, and Shen'er would not die. Chen Muke, how did you come from, the Marquis of Zhongyi? Have you forgotten? The title you exchanged for with the lives of my children and my nephew, you want to pass it to Shen Boding's concubine son. You are so ruthless and unrighteous!" Tao said gritting his teeth.

Chen Muke was sweating profusely and fell from the chair to the ground, "Take the antidote, I will write a memorandum, I will let Yu'er be the prince."

"It's not rare. Yu'er won't want this title that is stained with his brother, his sister, and his cousin's blood. I won't let this title exist." Tao said in a hatred.

"You poisonous woman, what do you want to do?" Chen Muke asked in horror.

Dow sneered: "What do I want to do? Look carefully underground."

Chen Muke's eyes were round, staring at Tao, his hands and feet kept twitching. Tao looked down at him with expressionless face, with hatred, and slowly losing his breath.

Tao took the swaddle back into the cabinet, walked back to the table, served a bowl of chicken soup, drank the soup, deliberately turned the bowl on the table, lying slowly to the ground, waiting for the medicinal attack.
