Chapter 60: Wrong and Chaos(2/2)
As Uriu said, as soon as he walked into the store door that was lowered, Alexander saw the thin man behind the counter opposite, with an extremely huge pair of eyes on his face.
Because he was sitting in the shadow, Alexander couldn't see the man's face clearly, but his bright eyes left a deep impression on him.
The man was wearing a very wide dark gray cloth robe, and a large bag was placed on the counter in front of him. The bag was filled with all kinds of small pieces. Seeing Alexander with his guard and servant, the Jews immediately quickly put the small pieces into their big pockets.
"Do you have anything to serve, sir?" The Jew stood up and walked out from behind the counter and walked to Alexander and asked carefully.
He had been in the city of Rome for a long time, so he had a pair of eyes that could see people. The young man in front of him should be a prominent person. This could be seen from his own clothes and manners, but also from the followers who were following him.
"Your name is Isaac?" Alexander looked at the Jews, and then nodded gently when he saw the slightest change in his face. Alexander had a deeper understanding of this person.
A very clever guy.
"I want to know if you know the Duke of Gandino?" Seeing the Jews stunned at first and then began to shake their heads, Alexander raised his hand.
Following this gesture, Paul Busako, who was standing next to him, stepped forward, grabbed the Jewish collar and lifted him up and pressed him tightly on the counter!
"Answer, or I'll stuff you and other gadgets into your mouth." Paul Busako said, grabbing out of the counter and scattered pieces of gold and silver that had just been hidden and pressed hard on the Jewish mouth, and then twisted them constantly in his hands.
The Jews were frightened and held their heads up and tried to struggle out of the terrible clutches of this terrible demon, but he was obviously not as strong as Paul Busako. When his mouth was pierced by the edges of several sharp gold and silver objects, the Jews finally couldn't bear to make a profit and scream: "I said, I said, I said, I'll tell you everything you need to know, please don't do this!"
Paul Bussac retreated aside, and he still held a silver brooch stained with Jewish blood.
Looking at the strong man who kept holding the brooch in his hand, the Jews couldn't help but be frightened and shuddered again.
"Do you know the Duke of Gandino?" Alexander continued, "I was able to come to you because someone told me something. Now I just want to get proof from you, so you should be smarter and say everything you know."
"Sir, I don't know the Duke," the Jew said first, and saw Paul Busako next to him move slightly and then he quickly continued, "but I heard that he was asking about some things, about a cardinal."
"Is it a cardinal?" Alexander asked in a low voice.
There are many cardinals in the Vatican, but few can attract Giovanni attention. But the Duke of Gandino who can condescend and surrender to the nobles will come to the Ghetto area to inquire. Who will this be?
"Yes, I've seen the Duke asking for a person nearby, but I don't know who it is," said the Jew. Seeing Alexander looking at the terrible strong man again, the Jews had to hurry and continue, "But I heard that the bishop seemed to have made a deal with someone here, and the Duke probably wanted to know what the deal was going on."
"Is it somebody from this house?" Alexander looked into the narrow street outside the door.
"Yes, it's the people here." The Jews hurriedly said, "I know all this, I don't know anything else."
"But I heard you seem to be familiar with everything here." Alexander walked to the table and looked at the gold and silver vessels that fell around the basin. "And you seem to be a famous rich man here. I think you must know many of you rich people. Since this is the case, you cannot have heard of a Vatican big man who participated in the transaction."
Paul Busako immediately came over, and he grabbed the panicked Jew again and pressed the brooch with sharp corners in his hand to his mouth!
"Don't, I'll say!" The Jew finally collapsed, and he fell down while crying.
"Tell me." Alexander looked at the Jews coldly. He knew that he could only be cruel and ruthless at this time. The news he exchanged for Sophia's "secret" must be worth the money.
"I just know that someone seems to have borrowed a lot of money from some people here and then used it to do something, but I really don't know who borrowed it and who is the creditor."
Looking at the crying Jew, Alexander thought about it and waved to him.
"You know a lot of people, so now I'll leave this to you and find out what I want to know," Alexander said softly. "Listen, if you dare to lie to me, you should know what will happen."
As he said that, Alexander seemed to remember, he said again: "I forgot to tell you that I am Alexander Juliant Gombre, Earl of Montina."
After saying that, Alexander ignored the Jews who seemed to be stunned and turned around and walked out of the store.
Isaac sat blankly in his shop. It was already dark but he remained motionless.
I don’t know how long it took, but when the sky turned completely dark, the Jews suddenly moved.
He quickly packed up the shop, then carefully walked out of the alley through the back door, and after careful observation, he put his hood on his head and mixed into the crowd.
