Chapter 15 The Savior

When facing Liu Taozhi's question, Wu Ming was a little confused. Although he had already returned to secular life, he was still a Buddhist. He knew that the two types of Buddhas believed in by believers these days: Maitreya Buddha and Amitabha Buddha.

There is a Pure Land Buddhism in Central Plains, which are divided into Maitreya belief and Amitabha belief. Although both were introduced into the Central Plains from India, there are differences between the two beliefs.

The Pure Land of Maitreya is the Tushita Heavenly Palace, that is, the Pure Land of Tushita; the Pure Land of Amitabha is the Pure Land of Western Pure Land, also known as the Western Pure Land. Both are Pure Lands where believers want to be reborn in, but the difficulty of realization is different, and the Buddha is also different.

Amitabha Buddha is an infinite Buddha, and its original meaning is "infinite". Maitreya Buddha is the successor of the World-Honored One Shakyamuni Buddha. In the future, he will be born and practiced in the Saha world, that is, the future Buddha in the Saha world.

Maitreya Buddha is the sustenance for Buddhist believers to be saved. In other words, for Maitreya believers, Maitreya Buddha is the savior and can save them from dire straits, so there is the saying "Maitreya saves the world".

"It's nothing strange about Maitreya's salvation, right? Believe it or not depends on the individual."

Wu Ming was a little puzzled, but Liu Taozhi did not go around the circle and pointed out directly: "Maitreya saved the world, how many people initiated the incident in this name?"

A few simple words were like a revelation, which made Wu Ming shudder: "You mean, someone wants to rebel through the saying that Maitreya saved the world?"

Liu Taozhi did not answer this question and asked Wu Ming where he got this Buddha statue. Wu Ming thought about it and told the whole story.

Not long ago, the guards of the Xiyang Prince's Mansion (Cat Team) took a thief's den during a routine operation to catch thieves. Since the person was stolen and captured, they were sent to the government as usual. As a result, there was a statue of Maitreya Buddha among the stolen goods. The owner did not claim it for several days.

This is nothing strange. Maybe the owner was transiting to Xiyang. I didn't know that the government asked the owner to claim the lost property. But the thief confessed that the Buddha statue was stolen from a tenant in Xiyang City. The official came to report that the tenant was still living in Xiyang City after several days of opening the bill.

The second day after the official visited, the tenant suddenly left his residence and never came back. This matter was only known a few days later. According to the landlord, these tenants originally planned to live there for at least one month.

There are more and more suspicious points. Although these tenants may have something to leave temporarily, such coincidence still makes the case Sima Yuwen Shiwu, who is in charge of the case, become suspicious.

Yuwen Shiwu stayed in Huangzhou and guarded the house for the Xiyang Wang Yuwen Wen. There were many things to do. Of course, he didn't have time to take care of such trivial matters himself, but the whole thing revealed a strange smell, so he handed over the matter to "his own people", Wu Ming's cat team.

In fact, it is just to find things for the Cat Team to avoid a group of young people being bored and getting belly-breaking all day long. What's more, Wu Ming is a "insider" in the industry, so he will take on this job naturally.

At first, Wu Ming judged that the Buddha statue had a mechanism, and there might be some treasure maps, wills and other small notes inside. However, when he looked at it with a magnifying glass, there was nothing wrong with it. It was just when he was helpless that he always felt that this Maitreya Buddha statue was a little different from the Maitreya Buddha statue he had seen.

The difference is, but I can't tell you, so Wu Ming was staying at home these days at the Buddha statue.

"This Buddha statue is indeed different. Do you want to hear it?" Liu Taozhi asked. He had experienced countless storms, witnessed countless big scenes, killed many vassal kings and powerful people, but could not put on airs in front of his only son.

Wu Ming was thinking about the Buddha statue now. Seeing that his biological father had insights, he couldn't help but become anxious: "Uh... Could it be that his style is different?"

"Yes, look..."

Liu Taozhi began to explain that the entry point was the style of the Buddha statue. This Buddha statue is a bronze statue of Maitreya at the foot. The backlight of the statue is surrounded by Mao Kong, and a relic tower is installed on the top.

The top, body, and the two sides of the brake seat are symmetrically decorated with honeysuckle patterns. There are two small niches on the brake seat, and each one is carved with a Buddha in the niche.

There are five flying bodies in the symmetrical Mao Kong on both sides of the tower, each with a scarf and a skirt, a light body like a swallow, a ribbon floating, a square face of Maitreya, a treasure crown, a treasure trotter, a garland, and a sagging, a sash wrapped around his arms and hangs on both sides of his body.

She was wearing a skirt, with deep, smooth and round and convex patterns. She put her hands on the Wuwei and Wishing Seal, and sat on the Sumeru pedestal with her feet, stretching her limbs and hovering around her.

The Buddha statue is not in the style of the Southern Dynasties, and Liu Taozhi can confirm that the Buddha statue originated from the Northern Dynasties. Specifically, it should have been made in the Qingzhou area, and it was probably during the Qi State (Northern Qi).

Why is it so sure? Liu Taozhi certainly is certain, and the evidence is still the style of the Buddha statue.

The Maitreya faith spread from south to north. During the Wei Dynasty of the Northern Dynasties, the Maitreya faith in the Southern Dynasties spread all the way north through Guangling and Pengcheng, while Qingzhou, located north of Xuzhou, was greatly influenced by it.

During the rebellion of the Six Towns, the situation in the Northern Dynasties was turbulent, and the number of people who believed in Maitreya Pure Land increased significantly. No matter the noble and humble, they were begging Maitreya to save the world. As Maitreya's belief expanded in Qingzhou, the style of statues also evolved significantly.

Liu Taozhi made a summary. From Wei to Qi, the style exhibition of Maitreya Buddha statues was roughly divided into three stages.

The first stage was before the rebellion of the Six Towns of Wei State. The style of Buddha statues was the same as that of the "Xiu Bone Clear Figure" in the Southern Dynasties. There were many back screen-style statues, focusing on the carving of clothing. The Buddha's clothes were dressed in a sleeved garment with the right collar and the left elbow, and the sides of the hem were outwardly exposed.

In the second stage (Eastern Wei Dynasty), round sculptures increased, and the Buddha statues were larger in shape, from focusing on the carving of clothing to expressing the shape of the Buddha body. Buddha clothes changed from thick to thin, and the way of dressing also changed.

The right collar has risen from applying to the left elbow to the left shoulder, and the belt on the chest is still retained. The hem of the Buddha's clothes is restrained, and the number of accessories of the necklace gradually increases. The high bun snail on the Buddha's head begins to transform to the low bun snail, and the crown ornament transitions from the low crown to the high crown.

In the third stage (Qi Dynasty), the shape of the Buddha statue is more prominent. The Buddha's clothes are less or less engraved. The whole body is covered with square patterns and the middle image is painted. The Buddha's clothes are covered with the right collar and the left shoulder and are tightened to the back to form a small round collar. The sides of the hem are fit vertically.

The Buddha statue obtained by Wu Ming was obviously the third stage of the statue style. The robes and belts of this Buddha statue not only cover the left shoulder, but also reveal the unblocked tongue-shaped left collar, which is the style of the Buddha statue in Qingyan area.

Therefore, Liu Taozhi was able to determine that the origin of this Buddha statue was Qingzhou, and it was produced in the middle of Qi State. In the later period, another reason was the dragon of the Buddha statue. This dragon was called "Surrendering Dragon", which is a feature of the Maitreya Buddha statue in Qingzhou.

The reason why Wu Ming felt something was wrong was because of the "dragon subduing".

"Dragon subduing? It doesn't seem like this is special?"

Wu Ming was shocked by Liu Taozhi's rich experience in identifying Buddha statues, but he still had questions. As for the questions he raised about the dragon, Liu Taozhi also explained.

The descending of the dragon that is mentioned here is the descending "submission", not the descending of the "submission". The dragon in the Buddha statue refers to the descending dragon that follows Maitreya. If it is three or four claws, the descending dragon in front of the Buddha statue is five claws.

Generally, the Buddha statues of Maitreya will be engraved with words for making a wish by the Buddha, such as "What do people in a certain county wishes in a certain year, month and day", but this Buddha statue does not have the only explanation...

"Maitreya is born under the will of the dragon, and the dirty world is transformed into the pure land of the world."

Liu Taozhi read the long-standing words that had been hidden, which made Wu Ming a little surprised: "The Pure Land of the World? Isn't this just calling on believers to rebel? Uh...how do you know so much?"

Why did I know?

Liu Taozhi did not answer. Looking at the strange Buddha statue in her hand, everything seemed to be back to that time.

He was tall and stared at himself with his eyes like an eagle, and threw a Buddha statue in front of him: "Liu Taozhi, I heard that Qingzhou has a savior who wants to turn the dirty world into a pure land on earth...hahahahahaha!"

There seemed to be thousands of troops hidden in the laughter, with murderous intent, making people shudder.

"You go to Qingzhou and come back with this so-called savior's head!"

"yes."

"There is an elder in white, kill him!"

"If someone who condons and shelters, kill him!"
