Chapter 84 Choice

Jiankang, Lingyao Temple, and the streets outside the temple were full of carriages. Today, Emperor Chen led all civil and military officials to come here and listened to Zen Master Zhiyi's lecture on the "Prajna Sutra of the Ninja Sutra". Therefore, there are imperial guards everywhere inside and outside the temple, with three steps, one stand and five steps, one whistle.

The emperor and all officials were in the temple, so in order to make a complete plan, it is normal for the deployment of the imperial guards to be high, but in order to show respect for the pure land of Buddhism, ordinary pilgrims can still enter the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha.

As long as there is no unnecessary action, it is unintentional to misunderstand, then walking past the envious imperial soldiers will not attract the other party's attention at all. Some brave people enter the temple to burn incense, while more people look at it from a distance, hesitating whether to go in.

Yang Guang was also hesitating. He was in the crowd, looking at the gate of Lingyao Temple in front of him, and he didn't know how to choose.

That day, he drank the poisonous wine sent by Yuwen Wen's order, and then he fell to the ground and died. He thought that he would be reincarnated in this cycle, but he unexpectedly came to the Sala Double Trees Double Tree Garden where the Buddha had entered.

The monk sent by the Buddha wanted to lead him into the Western Pure Land of Bliss. The reason for such a fate is that his parents are willing to enter the Avici Hell forever and get such an opportunity for their sons.

Yang Guang was not willing to do so, crying and begging the Buddha to let him suffer on behalf of his parents. The Buddha did not directly answer, but asked him to make a choice: whether to enter the Western Pure Land of Bliss by himself, or to replace his parents, not to enter the Avici Hell but to stay in the world to save all sentient beings.

How to save all living beings? First, do the emperor's affairs and work hard to govern, so that the people can live a happy and fulfilling life; second, become a monk and promote Buddhism, so that the people can cultivate the next life.

Yang Guang didn't know how to make a choice, but the Buddha used his supreme magic power to open his eyes and let him see the future after different choices.

He fled to the State of Chen and lived in Jiangnan. He was named Duke of Sui as a prince of the State of Sui, but was suspected and could not be used seriously. During this period, Chen struggled to maintain the Yangtze River defense line and repelled several major invasions from the Northern Dynasty Zhou Kingdom.

A few years later, the Zhou Dynasty had an accident. The powerful minister Yuchi Dun designed to kill the royal pillar of the royal family, King Qi Yuwen Liang, forced the emperor to abdicate and ascend the throne to emperor. The prince of King Qi Yuwen, King Xiyang, King Yuwen Wen of Wen, raised an army to resist, and the Zhou Dynasty broke out civil strife.

Chen's army was in the northern expedition, intending to recover Henan prefectures and counties, but he was in a difficult situation. He escaped the river alone, recruited refugees and trained troops to fight everywhere, and was trapped in desperate situations many times but turned bad luck into good luck.

After more than ten years of war, we finally ended the troubled times with our own hands. Since the Yongjia Rebellion in the Western Jin Dynasty, the north and south have been integrated again, and the Central Plains are inseparable.

The Sui Dynasty was re-established, and everything was in trouble. He worked hard to quell the rebellion and gathered the people. After ten years, the world was finally ruled. In order to avoid the Guanlong family at both ends controlling the government, he ordered the construction of the Eastern Capital and the capital was moved to Luoyang.

He was moved by the many ills of the examination system. He inherited his father's will and created the imperial examination system. He selected talents by selecting talents in the country through the method of selecting talents in the subject, so that poor families can have ways to enter the officialdom, and his career will no longer be monopolized by children from aristocratic families.

He also ordered the digging of a canal to connect the north-south water system. The canal is centered on the capital Luoyang and is divided into three sections. It reaches the south of the Yangtze River and the south of the Yangtze River and the north of Zhuo County. It is nearly 6,000 miles long.

A large amount of manpower and material resources were gathered to build the canal within a few years. At this point, the three Wu coins and grains can be directly reached through the canal to Zhuo County in the north, and the prefectures and counties along the way can benefit thousands of years.

He also ordered the attack on the grassland Turks and expedition to Tuyuhun in the west. He defeated the opponent step by step with many years of troops, and did not dare to covet the Central Plains anymore.

There was also Goguryeo, Liaodong, who secretly occupied the four counties of Han and attempted to occupy the western part of Liao. He lit up the troops across the country to investigate and attacked them three times in a row. Seeing that the success was about to happen, the accident suddenly arose.

The aristocratic families were dissatisfied with the imperial examination system and were dissatisfied with his strengthening of imperial power, and rebellions were launched everywhere. The people suffered heavy casualties in the expedition of Liaodong due to the construction of the Grand Canal, and civilians were in chaos. The ambitious people in the border generals colluded with the Turks and led wolves into the house, and the Central Plains fell into war.

He valued, promoted, and trusted people and rebelled and became independent. The people he hoped to benefit all cursed him as a foolish monarch.

When he was discouraged, he finally cheered up and led the imperial guards to Guangling, Jiangbei, intending to back the three Wus in Jiangnan, and wait for a comeback. Unexpectedly, even the most trusted imperial guards broke out. The rebels rushed into the palace and killed him.

The beautiful country was destroyed, and a new dynasty rose later. On the basis of his hard-working years of hard work, he created another prosperous era again.

"Yang Guang, are you willing to choose this path?"

Faced with the Buddha's problem, Yang Guang was stunned. This path had already thought of all the policies he could think of, but in the end he ended up like this. What else could he say?

When his father wanted to weaken the aristocratic families and consolidate the imperial power, he did plan to implement a new material selection system. He thought that the so-called "imperial examination" was very suitable, but this would touch the interests of the aristocratic families and cause strong backlash from the other party.

Building canals to connect major water systems in the world, attacking the Turks, Tuyuhun and Goguryeo, is also what a promising emperor should do, but why did the people betray their relatives after doing it?

After working hard for decades, Yang Guang couldn't accept it, but this was the future that Buddha showed, and he had to believe it.

The second choice is to become a monk, not afraid of the hardships, run around, promote Buddhism and save all sentient beings, and establish a sect after decades.

Finally, like Lao Tzu went west to Hangu Pass to Hua Hu, he went to a foreign land alone to promote Buddhism. From then on, there was no news, but his deeds were passed down through the ages and were talked about by future generations.

Yang Guang didn't know which one to choose for these two choices. The Buddha thought of his filial piety, so he gave him a chance to choose. After laughing a few times, Yang Guang lost consciousness.

When he woke up again, he found himself lying in the coffin. The sound of filling the soil came from outside the coffin. He struggled hard. After shouting, the coffin was opened and he was resurrected from the dead.

The dark-faced King Yuwen of Xiyang originally wanted to give him another glass of poisonous wine, but the subsequent vision of Yang Guang forced him to change his mind and send him to Jiankang with a boat to find Emperor Chen to seek wealth and prosperity.

Glory and wealth? What's the use? Just passing by, the glory and wealth of the Yang family is no better than being a diner to the Emperor of Chen?

Seeing him building a tall building, seeing him having a banquet for guests, and seeing his building collapse...

Yang Guang has experienced joys and sorrows. If he is a diner in Chen State, the Zhou army will defeat Jiankang in the future. Will there be another prosperous dream?

"Hey hey, are you here to burn incense or watch the fun?"

An imperial soldier asked a question and pulled Yang Guang out of his thoughts. Instead of speaking, he clasped his hands together and bowed.

"If you want to burn incense, go in quickly and don't block the way here!"

Yang Guang nodded and walked forward with great strides. As soon as he arrived in Jiankang, he heard that the emperor led all officials to Lingyao Temple to listen to Zen masters' lectures. So now, Lingyao Temple is close to him, there are two choices at the same time.

As the prince of the Sui State, he asked to meet Chen Shubao for asylum. Although he was alone and had no certificates on him, many of the former ministers of the Sui State fled to Jiankang, and they should remember themselves.

And those ministers of Chen who had been on mission to Chang'an should have seen him.

With these people as testimony, he could become a guest of honor for Chen Shubao. Although he would not be valued, he would definitely be given a position, land, houses and servants, which would be enough for him to be a rich man.

Another option is to meet Zen Master Zhiyan, the head of Lingyao Temple. This Zen master has had great attainments in practicing Buddhism for decades. It is said that he came to Jiankang to spread Buddhism more than 20 years ago. He was respected by the emperor of the Southern Dynasty. He was invited by the emperor to preach the scriptures to all civil and military officials in the Taiji Hall.

He can become a monk in Lingyao Temple and practice Buddhism under Zen Master Zhiyan. After he has mastered it, he will start a sect to save all sentient beings. This is another choice.

Stepping into the temple gate, the bell rang, like a yellow bell roaring in my ears, the voices, appearances, smiles and appearances of parents, brothers and sisters appeared in front of me, and then disappeared. Yang Guang remembered the Sala Twin Tree Garden he had been to again.

The attachment to the world flashed by, and without hesitation, he walked to a novice monk who was cleaning up to pay tribute.

"My little master, I wonder if the abbot of the presidency is here?"

"The donor, the abbot is preaching to the emperor in the main hall. I wonder what the donor has to do to meet the abbot?"
