Chapter 2 Only make Kunming Xiyang

In a corner of Kunming City, Song Xian was exhausted and had just entered the city but didn't care about rest. He first checked in the residence that had been completed for a while. He walked inside and out, looked around carefully, and finally nodded with satisfaction.

When the shopkeeper and the client were satisfied, a stone fell into the ground in his heart: the boss regarded the Kunming store more seriously than anything else. If there was a mistake, the benefits he got would be ruined.

Many people were surprised to hear about the smoky and sanctuary land in the south. When the wealthy merchants in Shu wanted to seize business opportunities in Zhuti, Weicheng and Kunming, they had to send people to open residences to establish a foothold. Therefore, in order to motivate the shopkeepers and friends to enter Nanzhong, the bosses all promised heavy rewards.

The Song Dong family was no exception. After everyone came to Kunming, they found that the climate here was not as terrible as the legend. On the contrary, the climate in Kunming was pleasant.

Seeing that Kunming City is becoming more and more popular, everyone is confident that they will take root here and have a lot of branches and leaves, so they are taking their boss seriously and don’t want to lose their jobs.

"Well? Why is this courtyard and the house style a little special?"

Song Xian suddenly asked a question, and the shopkeeper was stunned for a moment when he heard this and quickly replied: "Hong Kong, this is the unified form required by the government office. After all, the townships and residences are only able to connect with each other. There are gables in the middle of each residence, so as to prevent a street from burning when the water is flowing."

The shopkeeper paused and said, "After all, the craftsmen are from Huangzhou. If Huangzhou is like Xiyang, Kunming will follow."

Song Xian looked at his own courtyard and the left and right courtyards, and looked at the same three-story building on the street. He felt a little moved. Under the guidance of the shopkeeper, he entered the backyard and prepared for meals.

Song Xian was from Yizhou and a wealthy businessman in Chengdu. He had been to Shannan and to Xiyang, Huangzhou. Xiyang gave him a shocking feeling. When he arrived in Kunming, he saw the situation in the city, and felt a little dazed.

This Kunming City looks like a reduced version of Xiyang at first glance. In an instant, Song Xian really thought he had arrived in Xiyang City.

There is a bell tower in the city, the streets are clean, and there is no ordinary city with mud everywhere and shit and urine flowing. The style of the house is similar to that of Xiyang.

A sound of "Dangdang" came from his ears. It was the clock tower's moment. When Song Xian saw the shopkeeper take out his pocket watch, he suddenly remembered something: "Where is the greeting? Have you handed it over?"

The shopkeeper replied after hearing this: "The boss, I have already handed over the letter, and the agreed time is 9:00 a.m. the next day."

"oh..."

Seeing the boss pondering, the shopkeeper ordered someone to bring a wooden box. After opening it, there was a pocket watch inside.

"The boss, the shopkeepers of Nanyang Trading Company, are the most punctual."

"Yes." Song Xian picked up the pocket watch, looked at it, and gave it to his followers, and explained carefully: "You must remember to wind it up, just right the time!"

He followed Ying Nuo in person, took the pocket watch and carefully put it away. Song Xian started to think about the matter while eating the cook's freshly prepared food.

Nanyang Trading Company mainly engages in maritime trade, and Jiaozhou is its operating area. However, Nanyang Trading Company opens an "office" in Nanzhong Kunzhou, which is thousands of miles away from Jiaozhou. This matter sounds a bit ridiculous, but it is actually very normal.

Because you can reach Butou on the north bank of Yeyushui by walking hundreds of miles south of Kunming. You can reach Jiaozhou thousands of miles away by taking a boat down the river in Butou.

Go south from Chengdu, Yizhou, pass through Zidu, Zhuti, Weicheng to Kunming, and then take a boat from Butou to Jiaozhou Prefecture to Zhilongbing. The whole journey takes only more than a month, which is more convenient than taking the Yangtze River through Guangling and then taking the sea route to Jiaozhou Longbing.

This is the legendary "Ma Yuan Ancient Road" of the Later Han Dynasty into Jiaozhou Road.

Of course, the white sugar produced in Jiaozhou, as well as various overseas incense medicines and rare treasures, can also be accessed by Yizhou along this road, which is much more convenient than the original commercial road to enter Shu.

Therefore, Nanyang Trading Company set up an "office" in Kunming to prepare for the sale of various goods in Nanzhong.

It is also because of this that when the wealthy merchants in Shu determined that the court really wanted to operate Nanzhong and reopened Yizhou to Jiaozhou Road, they were infuriated.

Everyone began to gather manpower and material resources, and went south along the "Five-foot Road" of the government's re-expanded entry into the south central area, rushing to set up residences in three important places in Zhuti, Weicheng and Kunming, and then formed a caravan to open up new sources of wealth.

Or "market".

The word "market" is a "cit" that the merchants in Jingxiang, Shannan often put on their mouths. Song Xian had dealt with Shannan merchants a lot and found that these people's vision was already a little different from them.

Therefore, these Shannan merchants followed the government army and made a fortune in Nanzhong, but as merchants from Shu, they failed to have the first taste of the soup in the adjacent Nanzhong area.

Who should I blame? Not myself!

Thinking of this, Song Xian was helpless. When the Cuan family in Nanzhong rebelled, the imperial court mobilized troops to Nanzhong to suppress the rebellion. The Yizhou General Administration Office once called on merchants to support the army, but everyone was dealing with it.

The same is true for Song Xian.

It’s not that everyone has no confidence in the official army, but because everyone believes that even if the official army defeated the Cuan family, the court could not control Nanzhong. Therefore, even if the court promised to give benefits to merchants who actively supported the army, the merchants who did business in Nanzhong had preferential measures, no one was interested.

Because the Cuan family has been entrenched in Nanzhong for hundreds of years, as the saying goes, three feet of ice will not be cold for a day. Everyone believes that the court will not be able to rebuild the order in Nanzhong in a short period of time, so why can we make a lot of money by doing business in Nanzhong?

Nanzhong was the old place of Dian Kingdom in ancient times. When the Three Kingdoms returned to Jin, the world was divided into nineteen states. The Jin court established Ningzhou in Nanzhong.

Later, the world was in chaos, and the Central Plains was in chaos. The Ningzhou garrison and the great surnames in the southern central China were repeatedly fought among the Yizheng. The Central Plains court's business territory has been gradually disintegrating for hundreds of years since the Han Dynasty and Shu Han.

The Jin court moved south to Jiankang. In the early days, the Ningzhou governor of the Jiankang court was still able to attack the powerful people in the South Central, but the situation in the South Central gradually got out of control.

The powerful people, big surnames, and the generals from all over the country attacked and merged each other, and the result of the strong fighting against each other was that there was a large number of people left: the Cuan family.

The Cuan family occupied Ningzhou and controlled the wealthy areas in the south. They only "respected the righteousness" of the Central Plains dynasty (Southern Dynasty) in form, but in fact they were in seclusion in Nanzhong, and their ambitions grew.

The Cuan family is divided into Eastern Cuan and Western Cuan, also known as "Two Cuan Man", and is the actual controller of various places in Nanzhong. Although the Nanzhong region has multiple prefectures and counties, Ningzhou is divided into several prefectures and counties such as Nanning Prefecture and Xining Prefecture, the governors and county magistrates are mostly children of the Cuan family.

Since the Hou Jing Rebellion, Shu was owned by the Wei State (Western Wei), and the villages in various parts of the southern central region were changed, and the Chang'an court was regarded as the official, but in fact it was still the same.

The Chang'an imperial court (Zhou State) could only grant the Cuan family children a remote position as governor and county magistrate, and could not actually control the states and counties, and even the appointment and removal of local officials could not be achieved.

The Nanzhong pays only a few taxes to the court every year, and the imperial court has no choice but to do anything about this. After all, it is too late to reach. If you don’t garrison troops in Nanzhong, how can you control the local area?

To send troops to such smoky places like Nanzhong, the more they sent, the more they died, let alone so many troops stationed in various parts of Nanzhong, where did the large amount of food and grass come from?

However, there are fewer troops stationed and cannot intimidate the barbarians everywhere. The officials sent by the court will die sooner or later die if they lose their troops to support them.

The merchants in Shu knew a lot about the situation in Nanzhong, so few people responded to the call of the court and took the initiative to support the army in exchange for various "preferential policies" when doing business in Nanzhong in the future.

So now one or two regret it.

The court's attitude towards Nanzhong is now well known. It has been constantly sending troops in, mobilizing manpower and material resources to clear the post road. From the Wufo Road to Zhuti, the five-foot road has now been widened to fifteen feet.

Zhuti City is already overcrowded and its outer contour continues to expand.

A large number of merchants from Shannan flocked to Nanzhong, using Zidu, Zhuti, Weicheng and Kunming as bases to quickly open up new business paths.

Zidu, Zhuti, Weicheng, Kunming, like Xiyang, all have bell towers and “trade houses” with the same style. From here, you can see a large number of people with Shannan accents.

In the southeast direction of the Jiaozhou General Administration, its local wealthy merchants also organized caravans to enter Kunzhou along Yeyushui, and then opened up a new trade route and began to trade with the barbarians in various parts of the South Central.

The most popular business of the wealthy merchants in Jiaozhou in Nanzhong was to sell sea salt to the barbarian tribes, capture slaves themselves or buy raw mouths from the barbarian tribes, and transport them to Jiaozhou for sale.

And these transactions have been made by merchants from Shu since ancient times!

Shu produces well salt, while Nanzhong produces slaughter (slave slaves). Merchants sell Shu cloth and salt enters Nanzhong, and gets slaughtered back and reselling. This has been like this for thousands of years, but the "traditional market" is actually stolen.

The merchants in Shu who came to their senses quickly responded and tried to make up for the loss of sheep. The court also gave everyone the opportunity to make up for the loss of sheep, calling on merchants to recruit people to take root and sprout in various parts of Nanzhong.

The court has decided to open up Yizhou and Jiaozhou Road. In this way, Yizhou merchants and Jiaozhou merchants can make a fortune together.

Thinking about the beautiful "money prospect" in the next few years, Song Xian couldn't help feeling relaxed and happy.

The trade route between Yizhou and Jiaozhou has been completed. As one of the key places on the trade route, Kunming City will inevitably become larger and larger in scale. It is difficult to gain a place, so it cannot be wasted.
