Chapter 24 Tomb Raiders in Bailuyuan (1)

In a very old age, a white deer appeared on the White Deer Plain. Even though it was fleeting, it was regarded as auspicious by the emperor.

Bai Luyuan is in the heart of Guanzhong. In the 300th year of the Tang Dynasty, the 18 imperial tombs of Emperor Taizong of Tang were established. From Emperor Taizong of Tang to Emperor Xizong of Tang: Xian, Zhao, Gan, Ding, Qiao, Tai, Jian, Yuan, Chong, Feng, Jing, Guang, Zhuang, Zhang, Duan, Zhen, Jian, Jing, and 18 imperial tombs, stretching 300 miles east and west, which is the so-called "Eighteen Tang Emperors of Guanzhong". If Wu Zetian and Emperor Gaozong Li Zhi were added, a total of nineteen emperors fell asleep. However, since Zhu Wen forced Emperor Zhaozong of Tang to move the capital to Luoyang, Chang'an would no longer be the imperial capital. Except for Li Zicheng, changing Xi'an to Xijing and establishing the Dashun Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu fled to Xi'an in the Gengzi year, and no other emperor came to Guanzhong.

In the sixth year of the Republic of China, on July 1, 1917, Zhang Xun announced the restoration in Beijing. On the same day, a Beiyang army crossed the Wei River, burned, killed and looted all the way, and did not dare to approach the Xi'an city wall, so he had to climb the Bailu Plain. The wounded soldiers could not carry it, so they threw them to the roadside and shot them one by one to prevent the wound from becoming suppurated and maggots, and ended the pain in advance. In summer, the grass and trees were flourishing on the plateau, and wheat waves rolled layer by layer, and farmers rode cattle by the fields from time to time. The ragged soldiers recruited peasant women and pushed them into the wheat fields to rape them.

The leading brigade commander rode a white horse and came in a hurry to a large tomb. He was from the Baoding Military Academy and most of his subordinates were not from Shaanxi. In 1914, the Bai Lang army broke into Guanzhong. General Lu Jianzhang of Yuan Shikai entered Shaanxi, plundered the civilian paste, and robbed the ancient tombs of the Han and Tang dynasties. The "Salu Zi" and "Fist Maple" among the six horses of Zhaoling were sold to the United States and were left to the University of Pennsylvania Museum.

The White Deer Plain lies 800 miles across the Qin River. It leans against Zhongnan Mountain in the south, connects to Chang'an City in the west, overlooks the willows of Baqiao in the north, and looks at the Qin Emperor's Mausoleum in the east. It stands out from the Wei River plain with gullies and ravines and surrounds the Han and Ba Rivers on three sides, like a large loess roof formed on the plain. In the Tang Dynasty, Ma Dai's "Evening Look at the White Deer Plain" says, "The geese fly down, and the people of Qinyuan are buried back. The hills and tombs and the city palaces, and the grass and trees share dust."

The soldiers used bayonets to threaten the farmers to learn that this was the tomb of the little prince of the Tang Dynasty, and there were many miracles, and they burned incense and worshiped by neighbors in all villages and neighbors.

Standing on the top of a high tomb, the brigade commander overlooked the Bailu Plain, consciously had the momentum of competing for the Central Plains, and delivered a speech to the soldiers—

"Brothers in Beiyang! At this time of crisis, Duan Qirui, Zhang Xun, Feng Guozhang and other warlords fought endlessly, and the war was in chaos. In order to turn the tide and support the building to collapse, our army must dig up this tomb, take it from the ancients, use it for the people, save the country and the people. It is of great benefit! Anyone who sees treasures will have a share, and you can get half of it, and the rest will be used as our military resources for our comeback!"

As soon as this statement was spoken, morale was greatly boosted, and everyone was eager to try it out. But where did you start with such a large tomb? Everyone was at a loss, and some people said, "Hey! Hasn't Xiaomu been a master?"

A soldier was taken to the brigade commander. His name was Xiaomu, who was only twenty years old and had a pretty face. He didn't look like he had done a tomb robber. Xiaomu called himself a Luoyang person. He followed his father's tomb robbers since he was a child, commonly known as "Tu Master". He first investigated the situation of this tomb and found that there were many robbers on the surface. The brigade commander was a little discouraged, but Xiaomu said that although there were many robbers, it might not have been robbed, but it showed that the tomb was good, and it was located in the dragon vein and the dragon cave, which attracted tomb robbers from all generations to come to dig holes one after another. He circled the tomb twice, and based on the terrain, he decided to dig from the northeast direction, which was called the "outer ghost gate" in Feng Shui.

According to the old method of Master Tu, such a large tomb usually has to be dug for three or four days. However, the brigade commander couldn't wait and decided to use explosives.

In a moment, a loud noise broke out several feet square holes in a fixed position. The smoke of gunpowder dissipated, and a pile of loess was still there. The brigade commander ordered the explosion and it was blown three times in a row, and finally the dark holes were exposed. Such a deep hole, in ancient times, it took at least several thousand civilians to be recruited by manual digging, which took two or three months. Xiaomu covered his mouth and nose and found several broken bricks: "The tomb passage is found!"

The brigade commander ordered all soldiers to draw lots and select 30 people to form a suicide squad. He appointed a confidant battalion commander to lead the team, seal the official and make a wish, and issued the Beiyang Medal. Everyone loaded bullets, carried a horse lantern, carried a shovel and an axe, and carried a gas mask.

The tomb passage was filled with unrestrained dust, and the bricks and stones of the Tang Dynasty on both sides became clearer. You could also see the tiles above your head, and there were bright murals depicting the banquets, hunting, wars, and sacrifices of the Wu Zetian era... The characters in the Tang Dynasty were all vivid, as if they were about to float out of the wall. The beauties in it were as beautiful as peach blossoms, which made several soldiers distracted. But everyone held their breath and kept quiet, fearing that saying a word would attract ghosts from thousands of years ago.

The Tushima Xiaomu walked in front, and the horse lantern in his hand shone the farthest. Suddenly, the light shone out two bones in the corner of the tomb passage. Everyone was panicked, but Xiaomu went to take a bold look. There were several copper coins left beside the bones. When I picked them up, I saw that it was "Yongle Tongbao". How could there be money in the tomb of the Tang Dynasty during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty? It must be a tomb robber in the Ming Dynasty, and it may not be during the Yongle period, because Yongle Tongbao was widely circulated, and it was possible to be by the end of the Ming Dynasty.

The soldiers moved forward tremblingly, and their momentum was no longer as good as before. They saw several bones, undoubtedly tomb robbers from ancient times. They could no longer tell the age, and they could not judge the cause of their death - whether they were trapped in the tomb passage, or did they die in internal strife, or did they really have a murderous mechanism in the tomb?

Xiaomu had a cold sweat on his forehead. Usually the tomb passage was not that long, and the tomb passage was like a maze, unless it was an imperial tomb. What surprised him even more was that the tomb passage was obviously heading down the ground, and it seemed to have bottomless feeling. Sure enough, there was water accumulation in the tomb passage. This was a common situation in ancient tombs, usually due to the problem of building quality, which led to the flooding of groundwater. There was also a special situation, which was specially used to kill tomb robbers. If it was in arid areas without water, this "water" was the more terrible quicksand.

After hesitating, of course, the possibility of groundwater flooding was greater, so Xiaomu walked forward with his teeth. His feet were soaked in the water. The soldiers behind him looked scared, but the battalion commander drew out his pistol and shouted: "Whoever dares to leave, shoot him immediately!"

Everyone stepped on the cold water and looked a little turbid. They didn't know what was dirty inside. Maybe more bones were hidden in the water and couldn't see it. The safest way was to find someone to pump water immediately. But if you want to find a water pump, it was not easy to be in the countryside. Moreover, the brigade commander ordered that the treasure must be dug out today, otherwise it would be dragged until tomorrow, and the enemy might be attacked.

Not long after I walked, the accumulated water had reached everyone's waist. The part that was soaked in the water was itchy, just like the feeling of being drilled into the flesh by a leech, no one dared to take another step forward.

Quiet.

In the complete eternal tranquility, the battalion commander turned around and felt something was wrong with everyone. He counted the characters and found that one was missing.
