Chapter 5 The Half Stone Tablet

That night, the dark wind howled in Juehu Village, there was a rustling sound in the sky and the earth, and a shrill scream could be heard from time to time in the night.

Sun Changming heard a thumping sound, as if something was constantly hitting the wall and door of the small shabby house.

He bravely climbed under the window and slowly raised his head...

Snap!

The window made of mulberry paper was broken by a black shadow the size of a fist. The black shadow fell into the room and turned around. It was a beetle that was completely black but had white lines like a human face.

The beetle suddenly raised its six sharp blades like a mantis. It was small but very irritable. It opened its big mouth and hissed strangely, and suddenly found Sun Changming.

It froze for a moment, then quickly shrank its whole body, rolled into a round ball, and rolled out of the door. It hit the door with a thud and bounced back, and became anxious. It hit the door several times, boasting.

He suddenly hit a transparent hole in the door panel and ran out.

Sun Changming looked puzzled: It felt like... meeting a ghost at a corner, and both the man and the ghost were frightened.

Inside and outside the village, there were densely packed with these insects. They flowed through like a flood and headed towards the big mound behind the village...

This night was extremely long. After dawn, the village was filled with cries. The casualties caused by the strange insect swarm to the village far exceeded those of the big monsters in the past.

Sun Changming sighed secretly, told his sister to pay attention to safety, packed up his things and went out.

I went to the tree hole first, cut up the remaining weapons and fed them to the little loaches.

This time, after the little loach was full, another wave of warmth came. Compared with before, it was a bit stronger, making Sun Changming feel like he was on a stove.

The area under the lower abdomen seemed to be full. This warm current circled around the body and settled on Sun Changming's left chest.

Sun Changming discovered that there was a vague symbol in this warm current, but it had not yet taken shape.

Sun Changming picked up the little loach by its tail and taught him a lesson: "Why was there no warm current yesterday? You must have stolen it for yourself."

The little loach drooped its beard, looking pitiful.

Sun Changming smiled and threw it into the river.

Just like yesterday, Sun Changming's soul attached itself to the little loach and swam into the river. First he circled aimlessly twice, and then went straight to the place where the fierce fish was yesterday.

Today, the feeling of a foreign body in my throat is more obvious.

Sun Changming lurked in the mud and observed for a while, and after making sure there was no ambush, he emerged and swam over.

There was an underwater stone wall here, and Sun Changming plunged into the mud again. Without much effort, he found a hole in the stone wall, which was blocked by a stone as big as a washbasin.

The fish was still on the rocks, covered by a thick layer of sand.

However, both the stone and the hole are irregularly shaped, with a gap exposed in the middle, just enough for a small loach to get in.

The cave is not very deep. As soon as Sun Changming entered, he felt that it was much warmer than outside. There was a semicircular stone tablet buried at the bottom of the cave with some patterns carved on it, which could not be seen clearly in the water.

The little loach caught it in one bite and swam out.

We must seize the time, who knows if the overlord fish will suddenly come back?

But it got stuck at the entrance of the cave. The gap was too small for the stone tablet to pass through.

The little loach turned around and slapped its tail heavily on the stone.

Sun Changming originally wanted to pull the stone away just enough to swim out. But after pulling it out, he turned around and saw that the stone was full of cracks!

It seemed to be several times more powerful than the last time I smashed that vicious fish.

Sun Changming did not dare to delay any longer, so he got out of the greatly enlarged gap and swam towards the river with all his strength.

Suddenly, there was a turbulent flow of water behind him. Sun Changming secretly thought, "Oh no, it's the overlord fierce fish who came back and found that the treasure was stolen."

The little loach swims very fast, like a sharp sword passing through the water.

But the surging water behind him became stronger and stronger. Sun Changming cursed secretly, could that thing still sense the location of the treasure?

Sun Changming made a prompt decision and approached the river bank. Then he arched his body and swung it violently. The half of the stone tablet flew out of the water and landed far away in the grass by the river.

The little loach emerged from the water, remembered its location, then dived into the water and sprinted with all its strength for a while, plunging into the mud at the bottom of the river.

The dominant ferocious fish was unable to get ashore and was so angry that it wreaked havoc in this section of the river, tearing seven or eight of the ferocious fish to pieces. Even the nearby pearl divers were too frightened to enter the water.

It wasn't until it was almost dark that the dominant fish left in disgust.

The little loach came out and swam back to the river quickly. Sun Changming put the little loach back into the gourd, secretly excited, but on the surface he was disappointed with nothing, and returned to the village.

This night was surprisingly peaceful. The big monsters didn't come. Sun Changming hugged his sister and slept peacefully.

The sun rose as usual, Sun Changming had breakfast and set off.

Calculating the time, there are still four days before the life tax. If I want my sister to eat meat, I must find another pearl in these days, no matter how big or small.

Sun Changming took out the bag from the tree hole. Several weapons had been eaten by the little loaches, leaving two tokens. One was engraved with three flames, and behind it was the character "Yuan" in seal script. The other was

There are complicated black cloud patterns on both sides of the piece, and only on one corner is the word "nine" engraved.

Sun Changming cut them all and threw them to the little loaches.

The weight of two tokens was far inferior to weapons. The little loach was not full and pestered Sun Changming and refused to work. Sun Changming had no choice but to say, "I'll find something else to eat later."

The little loach just gave up, but Sun Changming pinched its tail: "Don't run away, where's my share?"

The little loach reluctantly sent a stream of heat, which was much weaker than yesterday's. It circulated around in the body and settled on the chest.

The symbol in the warm current is a little clearer.

Sun Changming was very careful today and touched the edge of the river.

Then I realized that I was worrying too much: Yesterday, the dominant fish made so much noise that the pearl divers were scared away. Today, there was no one in this section of water.

Sun Changming found the half stone tablet in the grass by the river. He didn't dare to take a closer look, so he put it in his arms and left quickly.

Then, he returned to the small river and controlled the little loach to swim from the small river into the big river.

Today's luck was good. Sun Changming found a pearl at noon.

The river mussel is completely black with light yellow patterns on the edges. If you are an experienced pearl diver in the village, you may despair when you see this kind of river mussel. This kind of river mussel is called "gold-painted clam" and is very alert.

Moreover, the shells are extremely strong and difficult to break open with a large hammer.

The little loach rushed over, and the golden clam immediately sensed it and quickly closed its shell.

The little loach rushed forward, flicked its tail skillfully, and cracked the clam shell open with a snap. Then it twisted its body, whipped it back and forth in the water, and cracked it several times until the clam shell was completely broken.
