In 1988, the band Winner, which was once a hit back then, had been disbanded for ten years. This year they released another commemorative album, among which the song "The Unchanged Thousand Years" also entered the top ten golden songs of that year.
Among the members of Winn Na after flying solo, the lead singer Chung Zhentao is becoming popular, and Alan Tam is the number one in the Hong Kong music scene. However, the situation of Tan (Alan) and Zhang (Kuang Rong) competing for hegemony is getting more and more intense. The fans of the two are in a hurry, and the conflicts of scolding and even fighting each other occur from time to time, and Zhang and Tan are overwhelmed. For this reason, Alan Tam announced at the 1987 Hong Kong Top Ten Chinese Golden Melody Awards Ceremony that he will no longer receive the award from now on and will withdraw from high-profile.
During this year, Lam Yilian left her CBS New Power, which made her famous, and Chung Zhentao left Polykin, who had more than ten years of guest-host relationship. Lam Yilian returned to the old Chinese record company entertainment. Lun Yongliang twice held a concert with the Hong Kong Orchestra, and the latter time Lam Yilian participated. Immediately afterwards, she participated in the 44-Country International Singing Competition held in Shanghai, and won the first place in the Chinese competition with the song "The Source of the Yellow River".
The original film actor Chi Zhiqiang was released from prison this year. The audio-visual company took this opportunity to launch the singing album "Prison Song" with the theme of self-reported prisoners, which was packaged with folk slang tunes.
The wave of the northwest wind faded out in the music scene, and followed by musical works of various vulgar and minor tunes. Such as "The Great Impact of the Pandemic", "Grape Skin", "Girls in the Sorghum Field", "Spring Rain is as Precious as Oil". Wang Di, Tian Zhen, Tu Honggang and others were all entangled in this tide.
In Taiwan, 15-year-old boy Su Youpeng joined the Little Tigers, which imitated the Japanese boy idol group Youth Team. At the end of the year, they triggered a craze with "Green Apple Paradise".
Zhang Xinzhe, who joined Jushi Records last year, sang "You Are the Only" with Pan Yueyun on the album, becoming a highly anticipated newcomer.

After Alan Tam withdrew from the awards, Leslie Cheung had no opponent. He easily won the most popular male singers in Hong Kong in 1988 and 1989. He held a global tour concert in 1989. After that, he announced his farewell to the entertainment industry physically and mentally exhausted and boring.

Singer Harlem Yu also became popular at this time with "Let Me Love Enough" and Zhao Chuan also sang "I'm Ugly, But I'm Gentle".
Lin Qiang, a newcomer under the Rolling Stones, became famous with the Taiwanese rock song "Walk Forward".
The most unpopular one is that Chen Shuhua has resonated with thousands of fans with her song "When Awakening Dream", producer Lee Zongsheng, singer Chen Shuhua, and Li Zhengfan, who added points to the album, also rose to the top and became the new popular darling.

Compared with the 1980s before, the Chinese music scene seemed to have diluted a little. When thinking, the prosperity and decline, separation, sorrow and joy always makes people feel mixed and indescribable.
In 1990, the Asian Games were held in Beijing. On January 28 of the year, Cui Jian's first performance of the charity performance for the Asian Games kicked off at the Workers' Stadium in Beijing. On May 1, Taiwanese singers such as Zhao Chuan, Harlem Yu, and Qian Baihui also participated in the "Eve of the Asian Games" concert held in Beijing with permission from the Taiwanese authorities, and thus opened the prelude to the craze for Hong Kong and Taiwan singers to perform in the mainland.
Mao Amin, Na Ying, Tian Zhen, Sun Guoqing and others were relatively famous singers at that time, although their musical styles at that time may be completely different from those now.
Also in this year, on February 17 and 18, the "90 Modern Concert" known as the "China's First Rock Music Festival" was held at the Beijing Capital Gymnasium. "Tang Dynasty", "Breath", "Cobra", "Baby Brothers", "1989", and "ado" six rock bands participated in the performance. According to the comments at that time, "a mile away from the performance venue, the Capital Gymnasium, many young people stood on the streets of rain and snow, waiting for ticket refunds. The black market tickets rose to 50 yuan per ticket." During the concert, Cui Jian said in an interview with American scholar Tim Brees: Politicians, as listeners, have the right not to like my works.
Cui Jian's album "Nothing" was launched in Taiwan and attracted much attention from the media. He Yong also established the "Newsboro Band" this year.
In 1990, Hong Kong Radio held the election of "Top Ten Performing Arts Celebrities in the 1980s", accounting for five singers: Liza Wang, Xiaofeng Xu, Alan Tam, Anita Mui, and Leslie Cheung.
In January of this year, Leslie Cheung, who won this honor, announced that he would withdraw from the music scene in Hong Kong. Nine months later, on October 7, another winner, Anita Mui, also announced at her small birthday party that she would no longer receive any music awards.
Apart from these, in the first year of the 1990s, there seemed to be no earth-shaking changes in the Hong Kong music scene. The ones at the top of the list were the glorious names of the 1980s.
ja-jakson and eton have held concerts in Hong Kong this year, and the scenes are very popular. The most politically meaningful Daming Yipai record "Nervous" and the most meaningful Liu Meijun record "Naked. Feeling" were both released this year.
A large number of Taiwanese singers seized the Taiwan market, and Harlem Yu, Wang Jie and others performed extraordinary performances. Many masterpieces have also emerged among Hong Kong singers. Leslie Cheung sang "When the Wind Rises Again", and Sally Yeh sang "Burning the Heart with Fire" written by Huang Zhan. Alan Tam sang a song "Kara Forever OK" based on the continued popularity of Karaoke.
In Taiwan, Luo Dayou released two new songs in 1990 + cover songs "Love Songs - Luo Dayou". Qi Qin followed Luo Dayou's footsteps and released the new songs and cover album "Love Declaration". Harlem Yu's "Let Me Love Enough" caused a great response in Hong Kong, both in Taiwan.
Lin Yilian from Hong Kong also released her first Mandarin album "Falling in Love with a Person Who Don't Go Home" in Taiwan. Lin Qiang released the sensational Taiwanese album "Walking Forward" under the Rolling Stone, in which the single "Walking Forward" won the "Best Song of the Year Award" at the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards. This is the first time that Taiwanese songs have broken the vassal of language since the establishment of the award.
Zhao Chuan established his personal music studio in 1990, but his business conditions were not good until Lee Zongsheng wrote a song for him called "I am a Little Bird".
This year, when Chen Sheng released "Song of Greed", his economy and marriage were in crisis. He understood this suffering with the persistence of a musician. "Like a fool with excessive morphine like gluttonycetes, waiting impatiently for another stronger spiritual impact, but he was afraid that he would not be able to exhaust all his emotions."
In 1990, Xue Yue released the album "Birth, Aging, Sickness and Death". When recording this album, his liver cancer was getting worse. During the recording, he had to hold his upper body with a chair to make a sound. However, the works such as "If There Is Tomorrow" and "Scam Life" in the album shine with moving light of life. And, after he completed the album "Birth, Aging, Sickness and Death", people suddenly heard that he would hold his final concert.
On the evening of September 17, 1990, Xue Yue appeared on the stage of the Taiwan North Guofa Memorial Hall, holding a concert of "Scam Life". The audience was full and stood up and applauded three times, and it took a long time to stop.
At the end of the concert, Xue Yue sang the song "If There is Tomorrow" that was popular back then. The song says: "If there is still tomorrow / How do you dress up your face / If there is no tomorrow / How do you say goodbye..." At the end of the concert, Xue Yue finished in a weak voice: Let us give us a beautiful end.
On October 7, Xue Yue was admitted to the hospital for treatment 20 days after the concert. On October 24, because he was no longer physically capable of combing his hair, Xue Yue asked to cut off his long hair that he had been with for many years.
Xue Yue died in Taipei at 2:4 pm on November 7, 1990.
In the same year, another new singer in Taiwan officially debuted. Although his start was not so smooth, within a few years, he sang a work that swept across China, "The Heart is So Soft".
