Chapter 156 Yongle Grand Ceremony
What is "Yongle Encyclopedia"?
I'm afraid that with the current Chinese level, a considerable number of people can't say it. However, the "Siku Quanshu" which is much smaller than it, has given the blessing of the Qing Palace Drama, and many people know it. After all, it was the guy with iron teeth and bronze teeth who was responsible for organizing the staff to compile it.
Many people know that "Siku Quanshu" was the author of Emperor Qianlong's collection of books in order to demonstrate his might of prosperity. The Siku of "Siku Quanshu" is a collection of classics, history, and literature. Of course, if there are other purposes for writing this series, we can only guess now, but the responsible impact caused during the writing process is really too great, which makes people have to doubt the sinister intentions of Qianlong, a famous emperor of prosperity.
In order to write the "Siku Quanshu", the official confiscated private books from all over the country. Of course, most of the books collected were not used to write series, nor to enrich the royal library, but were burned and burned.
Why?
Said it was a violation of the ban.
The three most revived eras of the Qing Dynasty, Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong, were also the most rampant literary inquisitions. A large number of literati were killed and a large number of books were destroyed. If we really talk about it, Qin Emperor's burning books and burying scholars was really a pediatrician. Moreover, Qin Emperor cheated on those alchemists and witches who deceived them, and they burned books such as Confucianism, Law and Mohism, but the final reason for the later Confucians arranged them into a major historical crime. It was just that Qin Emperor valued the Legalists and did not use Confucianism, so later Confucianism would naturally not give Qin Emperor a good reputation.
As there were more Confucians surrendered in the Qing Dynasty, they also wrote history, so naturally they would not write much of Qianlong’s writing... Otherwise, if they surrendered to a tyrant, what would their face be?
This is history, especially the history after the Song Dynasty. After the Yuan Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, the character of literati cannot be preserved much, resulting in the true direction of history being completely obliterated in the long river of time. What we can see is just a little bit of fragments, and a distorted fragment.
Let's take it back.
The "Siku Quanshu", which is now known as the largest ever in China, only contains 3,000 books, and there are as many as 7,000 ancient books and classics selected and preserved by the "Yongle Encyclopedia"!
"Yongle Encyclopedia" was edited by the talented man Xie Jin. The book has more than 20,000 volumes, 11,095 volumes, and 370 million words. The original is suspected to be in Changling of the Ming Dynasty. The copy was tragically destroyed by war. There are more than 400 volumes in existence, totaling more than 800 volumes, scattered all over the world. It preserves the historical geography, literature, art, philosophy, religion and other encyclopedia documents before the 14th century of China. The Encyclopedia of Britain calls the "Yongle Encyclopedia" the largest encyclopedia ever written in the world!
"Yongle Encyclopedia" is a genre book that took six years to compile. Its original name is "Literature Dacheng". Its main purpose is to collect meaningful and valuable classical books into books.
It’s not that we criticized the descendants of Tungus’s wild boar skin here, but the more outstanding emperors of the Qing Dynasty were really petty. They compiled a "Siku Quanshu" and burned countless other precious classics. Even Kangxi, who was named the Emperor of Eternal Eternity, was just holding the attitude of a family and forbidding the sea. Although he had a profound knowledge, he actually had no use for governing the country.
Yongle is different. Although it is also a family, at least the emperor guards the country's borders and does a good job. When people wrote the "Yongle Encyclopedia", they did not destroy the miscellaneous books when collecting the books. They also absorbed foreign cultures. It's a pity that this book of Mining World was destroyed by war. Even the most collected by the National Library of China was only more than 200 books, accounting for one fifty of the total!
It is not surprising to say that the "Yongle Encyclopedia" is a national treasure!
Where did the other parts of the Yongle Encyclopedia go?
This set of extraordinary books was originally hidden in the royal family. When Qianlong asked someone to compile the "Siku Quanshu", he allowed to borrow the "Yongle Encyclopedia". Although according to regulations, this book could only be read and not brought out, it was a relic of the previous dynasty. Some literati and good book writers found ways to bring some of them out of the palace and then lost them.
Of course, the biggest loss was that the Eight-Nation Alliance attacked Beijing in 1900. Because the Yongle Encyclopedia was thick and hard, some of the invading troops used it to build fortifications, while others directly took it as existing, and then... it was like this now.
Therefore, when Professor Peng and others identified this box of old books as "Yongle Encyclopedia", they were so excited that they almost burst into tears!
How could it be that I was not excited to be able to get so many "Yongle Encyclopedia" unexpectedly?
"Is it true?" This time, even He Dongcheng stood up excitedly, and he walked to the stage and asked nervously.
"The preliminary identification is true!" Professor Peng was still quite excited. He patted the box gently, and then said, "We just counted it. There were 73 volumes, 151 volumes, each volume was fifty pages, about 50 cm high and 30 cm wide. The pages were made of snow-white and thick bark paper, and the book clothes were hard-framed with multiple layers of rice paper, wrapped in yellow silk, which was in line with the binding style of the "Yongle Encyclopedia". Look here," Professor Peng pointed to the upper left of the front of a volume of old books and said, "This bookmark is stuck on top, with four words "Yongle Encyclopedia" and there are also the number of volumes below, which is completely in line with the characteristics of the Yongle Encyclopedia. Although carbon 14 has not been used to detect the age of the old books, we have basically confirmed that this box of ancient books is basically the "Yongle Encyclopedia"!"
As he said that, Professor Peng couldn't help but carefully turn a page, pointing to the words on it and said, "Look at this word! It is written in two colors of red and ink. The paintings here are all drawn by hand. How beautiful, beautiful and grand! This is the regular script of the Pavilion style that is commonly used in the Ming Dynasty. It is exquisite and crafty, and can be regarded as a work of calligraphy everyone! I can see so many "Yongle Encyclopedia" in my life. To be honest, I really feel it is worth it!"
In the monitoring room, Lin Dong also opened his mouth wide. He himself never expected that the auction of the quota he had made could actually bring out precious national treasure-level classics like "Yongle Encyclopedia"!
After Lin Dong was just surprised, he immediately said to He Dongcheng and Manager Zhang through the microphone: "Announcement result: If this Donsbato is willing to exchange it, he will get a place!"
When He Dongcheng heard Lin Dong's words, he immediately said to Dons Barto next to him: "Mr. Dons Barto, are you willing to exchange this box of books for a place to land on the moon?"
Donsbato was not stupid. He knew clearly from the expressions and movements of several people just now that the box of old books he brought was very valuable.
However, he didn't think this was any difference to him. As long as there was a quota, what was the book? After all, it was a cultural relic of China!
"I'll pay five million dollars to buy your box of books!"
Suddenly, a voice interrupted the decision that Donsbato was about to make.
Five million dollars?
He Dongcheng turned his head and looked at the malicious interrupter. This was a tall white man!
