Chapter 1515: The Provocation of the Old American Fleet

There is a famous saying in the United States, "There is no problem in this world that cannot be solved by an aircraft carrier formation. If there is, then send two."

Now, the United States has sent a third aircraft carrier formation. The USS Carl Vinson, the first aircraft carrier formation of the USS Carl Vinson, heading to the western Pacific Ocean and is about to enter the waters of the South China Sea.

The two aircraft carrier battle groups stationed in Asia are now led by the USS Ronald Reagan of the USS Seventh Fleet and the USS John Stennis of the Third Fleet.

The USS Carl Vinson is preparing to join with the other two aircraft carrier formations to support two other aircraft carrier fleets that have been patrolling the South China Sea. This is one of the measures taken by the U.S. Navy to strengthen its naval and air strength in Asia.

The Carl Vinson aircraft carrier formation also includes the "Lake Chamberlain" missile cruiser and two destroyers, the Wayne Meyer and the "Michael Murphy", with about 750 people on the formation ship.

Previously, the USS Carl Vinson has announced to the public that the USS Carl Vinson will come to the Western Pacific and will be committed to strengthening maritime security operations and theater security cooperation, and will also hold exercises with partner countries in the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans.

That is, the next US-India "Malabar" military exercise.

The aircraft carrier formation cut through the waves and finally entered the South China Sea after half a month of navigation. The three commanders of the fleet, Major General Hall, the formation commander, Captain Colonel Germport, and the commander of the flight wing, Colonel Keaton, sat together for a meeting.

"The Navy issued an order to test China. This is the Pentagon's order just arrived." Major General Hall, the formation commander, pushed a document to the two, and they signed it after reading it.

Captain Germport asked: "This document has only orders but no plans. How should we test it? How much strength is needed to discuss a countermeasure."

"The plan needs to be formulated by the three of us, and the Pentagon doesn't care." Major General Hall said.

"Now the Chinese aircraft carrier fleet is also conducting exercises in the South China Sea, with the purpose of targeting us. Should we have some friction with them?" Colonel Keaton asked.

"No, we don't need to really fight with them. The order is just a test, a test of China's attitude." Major General Hall said.

“What about your suggestions?”

Major General Hall clicked on the map on the table: "Here, I think it's good."

“oodyis1and”.

Germport and Keaton looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

Since the United States announced that the "Calvinson" aircraft carrier will cruise to the South China Sea, the China South China Sea Fleet has conducted a joint drill, which includes island and reef air defense mainly based on shore-based air defense forces.

After the US aircraft carrier formation entered the South China Sea, China conducted strict monitoring of it, mainly satellite surveillance.

On the first day, "reported to the command headquarters that the 'Calvinson' aircraft carrier formation had abnormalities and the formation route deviated from its established channel."

The next day, "report to the command center, the 'Calvinson' aircraft carrier formation is heading towards Yongxing Island."

This move by the US aircraft carrier formation attracted the high attention of the Chinese side, and the Chinese aircraft carrier formation that was conducting drills in the South China Sea immediately became nervous.

Two fighter jets also took off at the Yongxing Island base and carried out sea cruises, flying over the US aircraft carrier formation in a distance, aiming to warn the US aircraft carrier formation not to make trouble.

When the "Calvinson" aircraft carrier formation approached 50 nautical miles of the Yongxing Island channel, it began to adjust its navigation and switch to parallel navigation.

Despite this, the Chinese Navy is still on a high alert state and has not relaxed for a moment. It is always paying attention to the dynamics of the US aircraft carrier formation.

"Reporting to the Command, the destroyer "Wayne Meyer" broke away from the USS Calvinson aircraft carrier formation and sailed alone towards Yongxing Island."

The "Wayne Meyer" destroyer is the 58th Burke-class destroyer of the US military and is equipped with an Aegis system. Rear Admiral Wayne Meyer is known as the "Father of Aegis". This warship is named after him.

This move by the United States has touched China's nerves.

Two J-11bsh of the South China Sea Fleet took off quickly and sent Changsha and Haikou ships to approach the US warships. The ship-air missiles were ready to go. On Yongxing Island, the Hongqi-9 air defense missile's launch frame has been supported and is ready to deal with any sudden situation at any time.

The US fleet ignored this situation, and the destroyer "Wayne Meyer" was still approaching "Yongxing Island".

When approaching the sea, China issued a warning and used public channels to shout out to the destroyer "Wayne Meyer". "We are the China South China Sea Fleet. Please stay away from this sea area and do not engage in dangerous and provocative behavior."

In the command room of the USS Carl Vinson, several people from the Supreme Command were carefully analyzing all intelligence. On the radar display, two Chinese fighter jets were passing by in the distance, and two warships lie between the aircraft carrier formation and Yongxing Island.

After hearing the Chinese call, Major General Hall, the formation commander, smiled and said, "Look, the Chinese must be very nervous now. Tell the "Wayne Meyer" to approach the 12-nautical mile line of defense and continue to test the Chinese's reaction."

After receiving the order, the destroyer "Wayne Meyer" continued to approach Yongxing Island. China's Changsha and Haikou ships also received the order and moved up. When they were closest, the destroyer "Wayne Meyer" was very close to the two Chinese warships, and they could even see each other with the naked eye.

The "Yongxing Island" base, on this two-kilometer-long runway, four more fighter jets took off continuously.

The Changsha ship warned the "Wayne Meyer" destroyer again and rushed straight forward. As long as the "Wayne Meyer" destroyer enters the 12 nautical miles range, it is very likely to take dangerous actions, such as impacting the opponent's ship.

Just as the two ships were approaching, the destroyer "Wynn Meyer" began to turn and sailed forward along the 12-nautical mile line of defense. The Changsha and Haikou ships also turned a corner and followed closely behind the destroyer "Wynn Meyer" and returned to the voyage when they knew that the destroyer "Wynn Meyer" was far away from the two ships "Yongxing Island".

The US fleet successfully caused tension in the Chinese Navy and mobilized the Chinese side's response methods. This move is not useless. On the one hand, it can test the virtuality of the Chinese navy's strength, and on the other hand, it is also an act of demonstrating the strength of the US military.

Subsequently, Deputy Minister Zhang of China's Foreign Ministry summoned the US ambassador to China to protest a U.S. Navy destroyer cruised near an artificial island built by China in the South China Sea.
