Chapter 1121: Know the inside story

After completing the submission of the national certificate and meeting with President Wu Minhui, Mu Yang left the government office, got in his car, took the guards, and went to the office of the Myanmar Embassy in Mandalay. Mu Yang and the others will live in the office in the next few days.

The embassy office rents a two-story residential building on the street, which is half new and not old. If it weren't for the plaque of China-Myanmar dual-distance at the door and the Chinese flag hanging from the window on the second floor, I wouldn't have known that this place was actually a diplomatic office.

Actually, it is not surprising, because there are many offices like China on this street. Myanmar's civil strife were occupied by Angh Lai, and the government fled to Mandalay as a whole. Now Myanmar only has a government framework, which is basically difficult to operate normally.

In order to communicate with the Myanmar government, embassies of various countries have to set up offices in Mandalay. As for the embassies in Naypyidaw, some are still insisting on it, such as China, and most have been evacuated, leaving only the offices in Mandalay to facilitate communication and understanding of the situation in Myanmar.

There were already several people greeting outside the building, and Ma Xiaobo got off the bus first and introduced it to both parties.

"Hello ambassador, I am Chen Zheng." Chen Zheng is the director and counselor of the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Myanmar Embassy. He was later sent to Mandalay.

"Counselor Chen Zheng, thank you for your hard work in Mandalay." Mu Yang stretched out his hand and shook hands tightly with Chen Zheng.

"No need to work hard, please let us talk inside."

Everyone walked into the living room. After Mu Yang came in, he looked carefully. It was indeed a decoration of houses. Even if some decorations were made temporarily, Mu Yang could still see the taste of the original houses from many places.

Chen Zheng introduced three other staff to Mu Yang, and Mu Yang shook hands with them one by one, and then everyone sat down.

Mu Yang talked with the four people about the situation in the office. Although there were only four people here, there were still a lot of things. He was responsible for communicating with the Myanmar government, handling passports, rescuing compatriots and evacuating overseas Chinese, collecting information and the latest news in Myanmar. So what Mu Yang said was hard, not a polite word. They were really hard.

If the political situation in Myanmar has not changed much in the near future, Mu Yang may consider reporting to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to open a consulate in Mandalay, and then shifting the focus here, so that the embassy in Naypyidaw will reduce staff, so that there will be no delay.

Then the others dispersed, and Mu Yang called Chen Zheng to the dormitory prepared for Mu Yang. Mu Yang pointed to the chair and said, "Counselor Chen, let's talk alone. I came here this time, one is to submit a certificate of nationality to President Wu Minhui for formal office, and the other is to understand the real situation of the Myanmar government now, not the situation in the report. After the Myanmar coup broke out, you came to Mandalay to be responsible for evacuating the Chinese people, and later stayed here to be responsible for the office. I think you should be the clearest about the situation here, so I want to ask you."

"I dare not ask for advice, ambassador, you want to know about that aspect." Counselor Chen Zheng asked.

"What is the situation within the Myanmar government now? Can they have the strength to quell the rebellion in the short term and bring Myanmar back to a stable state?" Mu Yang asked.

"The voices within the Myanmar government are not unified now. Wu Minhui has some military forces and some government supporters. However, due to his policy mistakes, there are also many internal oppositions. Now he is just relying on the army to support it."

"Some members of parliament have proposed to resolve disputes through peace talks, bring Myanmar back to normal track, achieve temporary stability, and then slowly resolve the remaining problems. This faction is called moderates, and their current idea is to stop war, resolve disputes with dialogue, and eliminate confrontation with political means. This faction accounts for about 40% of the parliament's population."

"The other faction is the so-called hardliners. They advocate eliminating civil strife by force, eliminating all the rebel soldiers, real unification and stability, eliminating the shortcomings of Myanmar for decades, and since then, they have unloaded their burdens and stride forward. President Wu Minhui is the leader of the hardliners, and this group accounts for about 60% of them."

"There are still people who have proposed that Wu Minhui's policy errors have caused civil unrest and let it be over, so the presidential power should be handed over. Their idea is to re-elect a moderate faction to the office."

"Wu Minhui's statement is that his previous policies were not wrong. The coup was caused by the unwillingness of soldiers to give up their power. If these warlords were not eradicated, Myanmar would never be able to achieve true democratic governance and would never be able to escape the shadow of the military government. As for the presidential term, the domestic situation is now chaotic, turbulent, and there is no soil for democratic elections, so he will always hold the presidency until the next legal election."

Mu Yang felt funny when he heard this. If he wanted to be shameless and quibbling, he could find out any reason. Wu Minhui would not give up the president's power easily, especially at this stage. If he gave up the president and had no real power in the army, the troops below might not listen to him again in the future. Then his future fate might be very miserable. Wu Minhui could naturally realize it, so he would hold on to the power in his hands.

"Who is the leader of the moderate?" Mu Yang asked.

"It used to be the Speaker of the National Assembly, Zuolinwu, but now it is Sai Maokang." Chen Zheng replied.

"Sai Maokang, Vice President Sai Maokang." Mu Yang murmured, then his heart moved and asked Chen Zheng: "How much do you know about Sai Maokang."

"Sai Maokang was not a soldier and had been in politics. Before serving as the Vice President of Myanmar, he was the Minister of Education and a senior member of the Myanmar Democratic League. Most importantly, he was the son-in-law of the Speaker of the Parliament, Zuolinwu. Zuolinwu was a senior government official during the Danrui military government. He has always stood firm. He has a very strong internal force and has certain strength in the army." Chen Zheng said.

Mu Yang thought to himself, I just said, how could it be so fast without any root? He became the vice president at the age of 51, and after being elected as a moderate leader and fighting Wu Minhui, he was able to hold the position of vice president. This is all.

It seems that there are many contradictions within the Myanmar government. There is no unified understanding within the warlords outside. Although Wu Minhui is a president with powerful skills, his political wisdom is the situation that was originally quite good, but now he is making this look like this. It can be seen that it is not very good.

Perhaps it was because of his temper he developed when he was in the military and he liked to use tough means to deal with problems, but the complexity of political issues was obviously beyond his predictions.
