Chapter 63 Military Instructors
(I want to say something weakly, please support all kinds of things!)
Just after eight o'clock in the morning, Matthew came to Helen Herman's office as agreed, and only Helen Hermann was in it.
"Sit as you like." Helen Hermann had a laptop in front of him. "He still has half an hour to come."
Matthew went to the water dispenser to pick up a glass of water, and brought it back and sat on a single sofa. Seeing that Helen Herman was still busy, he waited patiently.
Less than ten minutes later, Helen Herman finished his work and pushed his laptop aside, saying, "I contacted an officer who retired a few years ago. He used to be a recruit training officer for a long time. Now he often trains actors for some war crews in Hollywood, which just meets our requirements."
"Sounds pretty good." Matthew nodded.
Helen Herman took off his glasses and wiped them, and said, "He will develop a ten-day military training plan for you to guide you through this part of the training."
"What about the charge?" Matthew didn't think it was an obligation to help, "How did he charge?"
"The price of $1,200 in ten days is already very low." Helen Hermann asked when he thought of Matthew's economic problems, "Isn't the money enough?"
Matthew thought silently, "It's enough."
After deducting this thousand and two hundred dollars, the remaining money will be enough for his basic living expenses in the future. If he can get the role of Ronald Spears and sign the actor contract, the crew will pay a part of the salary.
"How are your data research?" Helen Hermann asked again.
"I have read all the information well and am currently reading the novel for the third time." Matthew said bluntly, "My reading ability is not strong, and I may understand it slowly than others."
If the novel is in Chinese, it would be much better. I only learned very simple English on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, and my level was extremely limited. Although Matthew had studied in middle school before, he was just a waste of time in a very chaotic public school and didn't learn much at all.
Helen Hermann warned, "You need to improve your reading ability, otherwise it will be troublesome to read the script in the future."
"I know," Matthew explained, "I have read books and newspapers every day for several months, and I have never stopped it."
The office door was knocked, and then Amanda pushed the door and walked in, first glanced at Matthew, and then said to Helen Herman, "He's here."
Helen Herman closed the laptop and said, "Let him in."
Not long after, Amanda brought in a strong man in his thirties. He was a white man, but his skin was tanned.
Helen Hermann walked over from behind the desk and introduced them directly to both parties.
"Matthew, this is Hawke Breton." She first introduced the strong dark-skinned soldier, "a very outstanding military instructor."
Then she introduced Matthew, "Hauck, this is Matthew Horner, an actor, and your employer next."
Matthew shook hands with Hawke Breton, feeling that the retired officer's hands were as rough as he was.
The two had a brief conversation. Helen Hermann asked a professional to draft a contract last night, and the two parties signed the names respectively, which was considered to have reached a ten-day cooperation agreement.
"When will the training start?" Hawke Breton asked.
Matthew thought for a while and replied, "Of course the faster the better."
Hawke Breton seemed to be still in the military style, "In this way, I will make the plan today and we will start tomorrow."
Matthew decided to ask for leave from the performance school for a while and said, "Yes."
Hawke Breton asked again, "Where are we training?"
"Uh?" Matthew realized that he had overlooked a very important thing.
Helen Herman took the conversation and said, "I have a small farm in the west of Burbank. I asked someone to clean up the venue last night. Hawke, I will send the specific address to your phone via text message later."
"Okay." Hawke Breton was obviously an action-oriented person, "I'll leave first."
He nodded to Matthew and Amanda and left the office.
Helen Hermann solved the training ground problem, and Matthew couldn't help but ask tentatively, "Does your venue charge for that venue?"
"If you want to give it," Helen Hermann said lightly, "I won't refuse."
Matthew immediately said vaguely, "Let's talk about this later." Of course he wanted to save the money, and then changed the topic, "Is there any new situation for audition?"
Helen Hermann did not chase after him and replied, "Eric revealed to me yesterday that Tom Hanks himself will personally attend the second audition for the role of Ronald Spears."
"That is,..." Matthew understood the meaning behind this sentence, "will his opinions directly determine the role's belonging?"
"Yes." Helen Hermann said the fact, "Tom Hanks is the direct person in charge of the crew."
She said slowly, "Tom Hanks is an actor who works hard from the bottom step by step. Compared to those directors and producers, he pays more attention to the performance itself, and his performance during the audition is crucial!"
Matthew is still lacking confidence and asked, "If the audition fails, what other role can I get?"
"The backup plan has three targets for the time being." Helen Hermann did not hide this time. "A bad guy who was killed by the fire of the Ruger pistol he seized, a Luke soldier who showed up every episode but had few lines and scenes, and a non-commissioned officer who was blown into two dead by cannons."
Matthew frowned, "It doesn't sound very good."
"Do you think a character that an ordinary producer can influence is an important role?" Helen Hermann asked back, and then his tone slowed down, "So, we must try our best to achieve the first goal."
After chatting about the audition for a while, Helen Herman gave Matthew a stack of copies, which was a copy of the diary memoir of E-Company soldier David Kennyn Webster, which was very helpful for Matthew to study the role of Ronald Spears.
Holding a copy of the diary memoir, Matthew went downstairs, and Amanda from the front desk waved to him.
"Matthew!" she greeted, "Come here."
Matthew hurried over and said, "You were not here when I came in the morning, and I still want to talk to you."
Amanda held her hands on the front desk, approached a little closer, and said, "I'll book tickets at the airport and come a while later."
"Come tickets at the airport?" Matthew asked with concern, "Are you going back?"
"Yeah." Amanda nodded, "I'm here, I'm just helping me temporarily. I'm going to go back to New York first, then go to London and continue my studies at Cambridge University."
Matthew sighed, "I really can't bear to leave you. I don't know how long we will wait next time we meet."
No matter what, Amanda has helped him a lot.
Amanda has an open-minded personality and said with a smile, "Maybe you will become a big star when we meet again."
Matthew asked, "Which day's plane is yours? I'll take you there."
"No need." Amanda shook his head, "Now is the key preparation period for your audition, don't be distracted. My parents have come here, I'll go with them."
After hearing what she said, Matthew didn't insist and nodded, "My phone number will not change, stay in touch."
"I'll go to the UK soon," Amanda said with a smile. "If you can pass the audition, you will also go to the UK to shoot. Then I will go to visit your class."
"Okay!" Matthew also laughed, "See you in the UK!"
After chatting with Amanda for a while, he left the Angel Brokerage Company and went to the bank first. According to the previous agreement, he transferred 300 dollars to Hawke Breton's account, and paid the remaining 900 dollars in one go after the training was completed.
In this way, he didn't have much money left. Fortunately, he didn't have much money for the time being. He saved some money and could survive for a while.
The money a character actor can earn is not enough to spend.
If he can get a job on the crew of "Brothers" next, he has a paycheck, which can alleviate the financial difficulties. If he can't get a role or the paycheck is too low, he must consider finding another part-time job.
Now, Matthew only hopes that the audition will come soon, even if he gets an unimportant supporting role, he will go to the UK to shoot, so that he can eat and drink in the crew and save a lot of daily expenses.
It is quite helpless to have poor people and have short ambitions.
After completing the transfer procedures, Matthew called Helen Herman and asked her to notify Hawke Breton, then returned to her apartment in Westwood to carefully study David Kennyn Webster's diary memoirs.
He knew very well that it would take a lot of effort to get this copy.
This female agent didn't say anything, but was actually constantly paving the way for him as a client.
Matthew could also feel that he is now the number one potential client of Angel Brokerage.
